Happy Thanksgiving! Handmade Napkin Rings tutorial

Happy Thanksgiving! I wish you and yours so much love and happiness this entire holiday season!

Since we moved far from family almost 10 years ago, my parents have been coming to our house for  Thanksgiving. We love hosting them and having them here. And we also love to cook and entertain. Each year I try and add a special touch to the Thanksgiving table. I always feel like making something adds love and warmth  to the table that you cannot find in a store.

This year, I added a simple wooden tag to the napkins using the We R Memory Keepers new Singe Quill and the Freestyle Pen. Both great tools that make quick work of making something special and heartfelt. Visit the We R Memory Keepers blog after your meal and enjoy adding this idea to your plans for next year!

We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill and Water color Tutorial

The We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill is one hot tool! And its no wonder, with the Foil Quill being compatible with so many digital die cutting machines! Once you try it, you will get "foil fever!" Meaning, you will be trying to foil everything! Which is where I found myself when thinking about my design team assignment this month...

Being also currently obsessed with watercolor, the idea struck me to foil watercolor paper and then watercolor in my images! Which is a PERFECT use for the open images that are contained in all the digital drives available for the Foil Quill!

I combined these images and alphabet from Paige Evans on this card, creating a lovely spring card that measures 5x7.

Head over to the We R Memory Keepers blog for a tutorial, tips, and tricks, and more looks at the card. And if you want to REALLY see all the shine, head to Instagram, find me @kimberlystamps, and check out my stories!

We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill

As the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill launched at the trade show this past winter, everyone was beyond excited about the potential of this innovative tool. The Foil Quill turns your digital die cutting machine into a tool that foils! The best part is, the Foil Quill tool kit comes with adapters for the Silhouette, Brother Scan n Cut, Cricut, and the Sizzix digital machines. So you can use this tool with YOUR machine!

The Foil Quill plugs into a USB-based power source (think your computer, a power bank, etc.) and heats up. Using the pen tool and set up on your machine, the Foil Quill essentially draws in foil!! Look at the stunning results on this frame I made for the We R Memory Keepers blog!

You can use the design files from your software, ttf fonts, or you can purchase thumb drives from several of your favorite American Craft's artists! Heidi Swapp, Amy Tangerine, and Paige Evans and Kelly Creates, that I used on my project here.

The Foil Quill took 2 simple pieces of card stock and created a stunning frame. Impressive!

Who are those two kids in that photo? I mean seriously. We were SO young. Its hard to believe it has been 20 years!

For more details on this project, visit the We R Memory Keepers Blog. To see the Foil Quill in action, along with the supplies, helpful hints, and more, follow me on Instagram @kimberlystamps. In my stories, I have added a highlight section specifically for the Foil Quill. And as always, if you have any questions, please email me at the address posted up on the right side of my blog. I love to help!

Here is links to all the supplies available for the Foil Quill.
-You can purchase the three different thickness of pens individually, or as a kit. I would lean towards the kit, as it has all three included, some small rolls of foil, and washi.
-There are 4 digital drives of artwork from American Crafts artists, and also 2 more with whimical art and Christmas/winter art.
-There are sheets of foil (4x6) or rolls that are 12" wide. All the colors are lovely!
-Washi is used to hold the foil in place over the medium you are foiling.

7 unique way to use a stencil for card making - Video Tutorial

One stencil, that is all it took to create these 7 unique and different cards. Pretty amazing what you can create with one awesome tool like a stencil! I fell in love with the Art Stencil Floral from Gina K Designs and I had more fun playing with it! So, I made a video tutorial for you on all the techniques I used. Each card has its own section in the video that is quick and short, but hopefully inspires you to give a few of these cool looks a try!

For those who would like to watch this video in HD, or for those who are reading this via a reader or an email, please click here: 7 Unique Ways to Use a Stencil for Card Making

First up, color pencil. This one doesn't need much explaining, Simply color and add details!
This card above is embossing with highlights from wax paste!

Gold foiling on clear transparencies? How elegant is this?! Special products from Therm O Web create this amazing look! All the supplies used are listed below.

Light modeling paste and the fabulous new ink colors from Gina K Designs. So easy, and so much pop! After adding the ink, I trimmed the image away from the cardstock it was upon for even more impact.

Copper metallic paste on navy blue paper. Stunning! And easy! Look at all the texture it creates.

The two-tone watercolor technique makes another appearance. Of course this could be done with basic watercolors as well, but why not add a twist for even more beauty?!

And finally, the basic inking technique. Nothing wrong with good, old-fashioned, perfection on a card! I hope you enjoy the video and reference for ideas for the next time you grab a stencil and start creating a card!

This is an MFTv project from an episode two weeks ago called, Pretty Poppies Watercolor Card. I adore the look of watercolor and using stamps makes me look good! Its really easy to achieve this look. Personal notes:
Its been crazy around here lately! Sorry for all the quiet. Man, those crickets were getting loud! We took a wonderful vacation on spring break to the eastern coast of Florida. We spent a week in Melbourne relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sunshine. We also visited Kennedy Space Center and St. Augustine. Ask how many books we had to buy the little man about rockets and space shuttles! :D When we came home he needed surgery to remove a stuck ear tube. They also needed to patch the subsequent hole left behind. He did so well through it all and is healing nicely. He had to have an IV for the first time and after some initial panic, was a trooper! We have to try and keep him mellow for a few days until we see the surgeon again this week. Try doing that with a 10 year old boy! We are hoping that he is healing quickly so that he can get back in the pool. He misses it terribly. Keep him in your prayers, please!

Paper crafting happenings:
My class, 5 Ways to Mint is live and going at Big Picture Classes. Learn how to use this new and innovative tool that allows you to make your own custom stamps at home! I go over everything from set up to using the computer program, to inspiring you with unique projects! Check it out!

The MFT Stamps April release starts at the end of the week! Too much fun stuff!

The new Echo Park and Carta Bella lines are hitting store shelves now! I cannot wait to share projects with you soon!

thanks for always stopping by!
