Stamping Idea Book 2010

Scrapbook Trends magazine released an issue this summer called, 2010 Stamping Idea Book. I am thrilled to say that I have two projects in this issue, which I get to share with you now! :) Its beautiful and the best part is, you can order a paper copy OR you can order a downloadable copy. Video Tutorial: Stamping on Fabric:

I love this banner made using Pink Persimmon stamps. Fabric, and especially canvas, is very hot right now. And it is very easy to work with. The video tutorial covers how to stamp on fabric, including the ink, and a special tip on how to keep the edges from fraying. And while I use canvas, the tips apply to all fabric.

(use your imagination…wouldn’t this be darling hanging over a birthday table set-up, instead of my renter’s taupe walls? :))

To tie all the banners together, I used my CropODile to create the holes. Its not perfect, but does clear enough to pass whatever ribbon, or in this case, twine you would want to pass through.

The felt “buttons” that are also at the joint were adhered to the banners and twine with Elmer’s Fabric and Paper glue. Love the stuff. It holds. And it works perfectly for fabric to paper.

Go To Sketches

Have you seen the latest special issue from Paper Crafts, called Go-To Sketches? Its a fantastic issue, full of sketches designed by the Go-To Gals. I am thrilled to have five projects in the issue, and I wanted to share one of them with you today.

Instead of making a card for this sketch, I made a Christmas banner. That is what is so cool about sketches, many ideas and uses for them.

Hello dear!

The deer image from Pink Persimmon is so cute! There are actually three deer images in the Oh, Dear! Silhouette set. I stamped this deer with a glue ink pad and then applied Fun Flock. Once everything dried, then I carefully cut him out. The background image is from the same set. By stamping some of the leaves in green, I was able to make grass. The sentiment was stamped onto acetate and placed behind the frame I cut out. Cute set, huh?

The Polka Dot Mushroom set from Pink Persimmon was a perfect match to the newer Basic Grey Origins papers. You can stamp the outlines only, or you can stamp the solid images and then add the outline. For the polka dots, on this particular mushroom, I stamped them onto text patterned paper. I cut them out and glued them over their matching dots on the yellow top. Pretty neat. Time consuming, but you know me, I love to cut things out!! :)

The circle frame was made from Spellbinders™ die templates. You can see a video tutorial I did on making frames HERE.

Bakery Box Bonanza

This month at Pink Persimmon the creative team has been busy making projects with the darling bakery boxes that they carry in the store. Make sure and check out the blog with all the cute ideas! AND check out the ca-ute stamps for Valentine’s Day that are now on sale!

Looking at the box, I didn’t want to cover it completely in paper. Hey, its Valentine’s Day, let’s run with the pink. So, I stamped the box in Versamark ink and the Swirl Journal stamps. It looks deceiving, but the set has 2 swirls, one accent image, and journaling lines. This might be my new go-to set!

I wrapped the box in patterned paper from Basic Grey, lace, and fabulous, oh so fabulous twine from Divine Twine. Its twine with a twist of color, and there are many to choose from. Yay!

The top of the box has two hearts from the Key to my Heart set. I stamped it twice on white cardstock and then twice on patterned paper. That way, I could cut the hearts out and decorate the center. Add a couple of pearls and you are done. I will be putting peanut butter cups in here, because they are my hubby’s favorite. I saw some giant ones at Target…I bet they would fit! :)

Merry Christmas sled

Having an almost 4 year old overly-excited about Christmas, I have been reading “T’was the Night Before Christmas” a lot. A LOT. This project makes me smile just thinking about his anticipation.

I stamped, colored with Copics, and cut out Santa and his reindeer. The great image is from Pink Persimmon. The sled was covered with patterned paper, after some ink distressing. I stamped the sentiment, but decided it would be fun to cut it into smaller pieces and place it around Santa.

This little sled came from Michael’s and what I liked about it was the fact that covering with paper would be relatively easy. Sometimes wooden objects have too many little places to reach, but this one worked fabulously!

Tonight is the little man’s Christmas program for pre-school. He is pumped, and I have to admit, I am pretty excited too! :) I will be arming everyone with cameras and video cameras. Yes, I am one of those moms. :) thanks for stopping by!

Get Sketchy and Pink Persimmon

Today Pink Persimmon and Get Sketchy are joining forces! Check out the great sketch over at Get Sketchy and have fun playing along!

When I saw the “hill” looking part to the sketch, I knew I had to run with the idea. I flipped through my Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly pad and found the two papers you see. I tore the snowflake paper and then glittered the top before adhering to the 5x5 card base. I also added some ink distressing to the edges. I stamped the adorable house, from Little Christmas Cottage, in an unusual color. No, its not a weird color, but its weird for me. I am pretty see it as it is. You know, the house should be brown and trees should be pine green, that whole thing. In a silly way, I am proud of myself for embracing the colors of the papers and being ok with an aqua house. LOL! :) The trees got glitter along with the entire roof of the house. And because I had already made a huge mess, I continued by glittering the snowflakes. Isn’t it great when you have fun making something? :)

Congrats on 300K hits! That is so sweet that your MIL bought you the stamp for your wedding invitations.
My first stamping purchase was the SU Frosty set along with Basic Black and Real Red ink pads. A friend of mine was having a SU party and I knew absolutely nothing about stamping at the time. She even mounted the set for me when it came in! I used that purchase to make my very first Christmas cards.

FUN!

Today is about having some fun! But it starts with me being thankful. SO thankful for not only the blessings in my real life, but the blessings from all the online friends I have had the privilege of getting to know. I can’t believe it, but I passed 300,000 hits early last week!! I am totally amazed! And its all thanks to you!! So, in honor of the milestone, let’s bring out the blog candy!

The first part of the candy includes 2 Spellbinders Impressabilities. Spellbinders not only makes fabulous products that unleash my creativity, but they are truly wonderful to work for! I am thankful for the opportunity to create projects for them! Words could never express my thanks to Spellbinders!!

Also included is the stamp set, Vintage Greetings from Pink Persimmon. Another company that is wonderful to work for! I am thankful that Darcy and Judi have allowed me to work with their fabulous modern vintage images!

Ah, the new Elmer’s Scrapbooking glues, Painter Pens, and the never out of reach X-Acto knife. Adhesives are good and seeing as I love to cut pieces out of patterned paper, the knife is also very good!

Here is my first rubber stamp ever, from Stampendous. It was given to me by my mother-in-law to stamp our wedding invitations. This is where it all began. Add in an embossing ink pad, gold powder, and a heat gun, and the passion began. Sure, it was put on hold for a while, but somehow, it came back, and I am thankful it did. What an adventure paper crafting has taken me on in my life!

Pink Persimmon Sketch Challenge

For the card, I started with cutting/embossing a Spellbinders Nesties (TM) Circle from cream cardstock. I stamped the Santa face on it and colored him with a blending solution-filled water brush. (For more details on this technique see HERE.) The scalloped border along the bottom was stamped onto patterned paper and cut out. The Ho, Ho, Ho sentiment was stamped using the Carnival Alpha Small set and a small star from Little Red Wagon. The twine was colored with a Copic to add a touch of green.

Happy Monday! So, who is wiped out from World Card Making Day? Did you make a ton of cards? I got several completed! Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration everyone!!

This card uses stamps from Pink Persimmon. The red buttons were created with stamps from, Cute as a Button. I stamped the image and then heat embossed with white powder. I die cut the buttons with a Circle Nestabilities and added a clear button with twine over the top. The stems and butterfly are from, Flower Garden, and the sentiment is from, Sweet Greetings.

Today’s card is based on Dawn McVey’s Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #17. And this card fits in perfectly, because Dawn truly is a sweet friend!!

This is Dawn and I last weekend in Kansas. (it was so good to see her again, it had been too long!!) Dawn and her wonderful hubby were sweet enough to meet up with us for dinner one night. Our quest for some life changes lead us to their hometown. They showed us a wonderful evening out on the town. And hooked us on their favorite gelato place, Paciugo. (and I need to have the Sea Salt and Carmel flavor again-yummy!!) To say that they were a blessing would be a huge understatement! Amidst a stressful weekend, they brought a ray of sunshine. We laughed the night away and could have visited for many more hours. Dawn also set us up with the BEST banana bread ever! Their thoughtfulness completely overwhelmed us, and I can never thank the two of them enough!

Hey look! Dawn got a picture of hubby and I at Paciugo. We never get in front of the camera, so this is great to have. (and don’t expect another one for quite some time! LOL!)

And not to leave out the rest of the family, here is the little man with one of his creations from World Card Making Day! :) He saw this die cut and said, “hey its a tree, no a pine tree, NO a Christmas tree, hey, it needs lights! “ And being the crafty momma I am, I handed him some gems and away he went! Most of you will laugh, but his teacher at school can’t get over how well he can stamp….duh!! :)

my sunshine: button tutorial

Well another good morning to you! This card started with me playing around with new Pink Persimmon stamps. I was stamping the small Banner set and thought that they looked like rays of sunshine. I then stamped the letters to spell out “my sunshine” using the small Soda Pop Alpha. I cut out a couple of circles and adhered the letters to the backside. The button in the center is kind of fun and I wanted to show you really quickly how you can make your own custom buttons and twine.

You will need a clear button, a small piece of patterned paper, and glue. Elmer’s sent me a ton of glue to play with because they have a handful of new paper crafting glues. I have always used this glue stick for this application. This is the best glue stick. I love it. It works perfectly with paper to paper, or in this case, paper to button.

The glue is blue. Very, very blue. But never fear, your projects will not have any smurf-like qualities.

Apply the glue to the button surface. If you get excess glue in the button holes, I strongly recommend you remove it with a paper piercer or something else that can reach.

On the left is the wet button. On the right is the dry one. It takes 2-3 minutes to dry. Pretty cool, huh? :)

I wanted to tie yellow twine through my button, but I didn’t have any. So I took some Papertrey Ink Rustic White twine and colored it with my Copic marker. Place a piece of scratch paper underneath your twine. Use the chisel end of your marker and color the twine. Perfectly coordinating twine every time!

To make bow-tying easier, I run my twine through my button first. Then I adhere it to its proper location.

By having the twine attached to a larger surface, it becomes much easier to tie and play around with tying your bow.
