Maya Road Classic Card Kit: Hello Actually

This month I have had the pleasure of creating with the Maya Road Classic Card Kit! This month's kit is called, Hello Actually. And hello is right! This kit is packed with so much goodness, wow! I could make many, many more cards with all the fabulous product! I thought I would share what I used on each card, but to get all the details, and full views of lots of projects, head over to the Maya Road Classic Card Kit Blog!

Wood bingo pieces. Chipboard speech bubbles. Lily Bee Pinwheel 6x6 paper pad. Green paper trim that can be unrolled and cut, like I did on the leaves!

Gorgeous pre-made burlap flowers. Look at the zipper, there is three of them in this kit! The green trim again, this time kept together and bent to create leaves.

An exclusive stamp set. Plain tags. Shaped paper clips. Gold glitter photo corners. Red string.

Yellow tulle trim. More looks at that exclusive stamp set.

Several different styles of pins. And white card bases.

Twine. Tickets. Cool little metal roses and so much more!

This is one of my all-time favorite cards. It was made last year after CHA and was going to be published in Scrapbooks Etc. Sadly, the magazine is no longer around and this was never published.

The cardstock was letter pressed by applying ink to an embossing folder. The flower, leaves, and sentiments were all die cut.

And again, more playing around. The polaroid was cut with my Silhouette using Vintage Frames from Lori Whitlock. The sentiment was stamped onto white cardstock and placed behind the frame.



The buttons were layered together. Man, I love the pop of red and the stripes!

More playing around. This time its with a fun new toy in my crafty space. For Christmas my grandma bought me a Silhouette Cameo, the digital cutting machine. Its been quite fun to play with and to see the different images that can be cut. The red cardstock is actually the negatives from a 3x4 card that was cut with the machine. The negatives where adhered to a piece of Lily Bee patterned paper.

(Anyone else addicted to their corner rounder again, or is it just me?)

 

The sentiment on the card was spelled out with Basic Grey letter stickers and a stamped image from Avery Elle.



This little detail is my favorite part of the card! The card still needed a little something once I added the sentiment and stamped image. I was looking at the letter stickers thinking…hmm…x’s and o’s would be good…and then I thought, Hey! I always have tons of x’s left over and they look like little stitches! Perfect!!! I love it when things work out like that! :)

Ah, playing around with fun product, it was a good way to spend some of the holiday vacation days! This project resulted in my playing around with the January kit from Simon Says Stamp.

It was the wood grain cardstock that sucked me in. My love for wood grain shouldn’t come as a surprise. :) The cardstock is white and full of fabulous texture. I misted water onto the cardstock and then began applying Distress Inks, starting with Frayed Burlap. Start off the paper and make a complete pass all the way across the cardstock, or you will get marks from where you stop. Then Vintage Photo ink, followed by a wee bit of Walnut Stain were added on top. Set aside to dry.

The paper will want to bend, so place it under something heavy to help flatten it. Or, do what I did, and use Crafty Power Tape on the back to provide secure adhesion.



The sunshine is a canvas “button”. By wetting it with water and applying Scattered Straw Distress Ink, it turned a wonderful shade of yellow.

The clouds were stamped in pale blue ink onto patterned paper. They were trimmed out and because of the pale ink, I was able to cut off the little speech bubble part of the image without it being noticed.

Happy New Year!

Well. This year didn’t quite go as planned. There have been more downs than ups, but through patience and prayer, we are making it day by day. And each day seems to have better and better moments. I can honestly say that we are looking forward to 2013 and all the adventures we have planned!

CHA-S favorites

Welcome to a quick peek at my favorite products from the CHA-S show last week. Forgive the lousy photos, but shaky RA hands and bad lighting equals blur. Click on the photos if you would like to see the images in more detail. And I apologize now for spending your money for you. :)

First up is My Mind’s Eye. They always hit a home run. Every release. This one is no exception. I will just share this 6x6 pad from The Sweetest Thing line, called, Honey. Something about these colors just gets me every time!

Be still my heart! Basic Grey’s Lucille. Just look at it. Need I say more?

      

Authentique, Carefree. Loved the red, of course. Great patterns. Subtle, shabby, but I could get away with a boy layout with these!

Loving Persnickety from Lily Bee. Fun patterns. Funky color palette. Looks like lots of creative possibilities!

Colored clothespins from Canvas Corp. Doesn’t that line up just make you smile?

Jillibean Soup, Grandma’s Lima Bean Soup. Fun collection. Its like being in your grandma’s attic. Best part, or worst part is, the backsides are just as great as the fronts! Better pick up two of each!

Banner Bites from Jillibean. Super cute. So trendy. I need to bake cupcakes to use these on!

And these wood buttons from Jillibean too. Great size, beautiful patterns.

    

Hero Arts knocked it out of the park with their holiday stamps. Bold, big sentiments. And I am saying it now, and have been wanting them for some time, BIG IS BACK for sentiments!

Hero Arts/Basic Grey stamp set from the Lucille line. This will be used often on layouts. Its so precious!!

For those of you on the hunt for florist frogs to photograph your cards, search no more! Melissa Frances has several sizes and two colors. Best part about these, more open space between twines, making it easier to display your project.

Ca-ute plastic flowers from Jenni Bowlin. Love the swirled petals in these Doily Flowers.

Oh swoon to Maya Road!! Why yes, those are spools of burlap trim in colors perfect for the vivid colors displayed in everyone’s lines this show!

All the new buttons from Cosmo Cricket are hands down my favorite product/s  from the show. Wood and canvas based, they are bright and vivid and will make a statement. More coming with these later.

GREAT sentiments, in an itty bitty size, for cards, layouts, etc. Love all these stickers from Cosmo Cricket.

Awesomeness from Tsukineko (Imagine Crafts)! These Ink Dauber Delights not only fit on your finger tip, but are full of juicy, inky goodness. This formula also works on fabric!

   

May Arts! Eeeeee! I am a sucker for burlap and canvas and check out these ribbons! The top ones are stitched with colors down each side and come in two thicknesses. The bottom one, need I say more?!?!

Gorgeous stamps from JustRite Stampers, designed by Samantha Walker. These coordinate with her new dies from Spellbinders Paper Arts.

P.S. I did it. All by myself. I went to CHA. I took things slow. Took lots of breaks. Took a few naps. But, I did it. Yes, there was pain. But that is life now. The trip was so good, not only because of friends and some crazy adventures, but because it proved to me that even in pain, I can still do things. I can still go places. The medications are starting to help me feel better. Less tired. More willing to get out and do things. All positive and incredibly encouraging signs, that I needed. Let’s be honest, while I mostly try to keep my chin up, some days it just stinks. I cry. I pout. I stay in bed. But these glimmers bolster my determination to not let this defeat me. I might be slowed down right now, but not out. :)
