Mint Monday

Wishing You and Yours

Happy Monday!! Another card I made using the latest releases from Mint Motif, Beyond Borders and Very Merry Sentiments. Once again, I used this amazing stamping-with-your-acrylic-block-technique from Jennifer McGuire. The original background was masked off with two post it notes, once it was dry. And this time, I generation stamped the Beyond Borders quatrefoil on the left side.

Supplies:Stamps-Mint Motif (Very Merry Sentiments, Beyond Borders), Ink-Ranger (Distressing Inks-Peeled Paint,Broken China) Memento (Tuxedo Black)

And here are a couple of projects from a wonderful Mint Motif fan!! Remember to share your projects with me! I love to see them!!

Mint Motif and Baking with Impressabilities, again

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Once again, my cake inspired my card! I thought I would try another baking idea with Spellbinders™ Impressabilities™.

Happy Birthday Cupcake CU Cake

I stamped the middle layer and the top layer from Cake Shoppe onto a piece of cardstock. I then letter pressed the whole piece of cardstock. The excess was trimmed away. I stamped and colored three candles and adhered them to the back of the cake. (I colored the open bottom of the candle long and left it long when I cut it out. That way I had a piece to put adhesive upon and to adhere to the cake.)

Happy Birthday Cupcake CU Cupcake

Here is a look at the final cupcake. Isn’t that cute? :)

Happy Birthday Cutting Fondant

After the cupcakes were cooled, I rolled out a thin piece of fondant and used a circle cookie cutter that perfectly fit the top of the cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Fondant on top

A thin layer of buttercream frosting was spread on the top of the cupcake and then the fondant was laid over the top. I used my hand to help smooth and level the fondant.

Place a piece of waxed paper on your counter. Using a food spray, spray the surface of an Impressabilities (a brand new, unused one) until you can see the color standing on it. Carefully lift it up and move it to a clean sheet. In the photo here, I didn’t move and the excess color spray came right through and ruined the first go round.

Happy Birthday Final Fondant

Gently, but firmly push the cupcake into the Impressabilities. And here is the results. We found that if you rubbed a little water on the fondant first, it didn’t spread the color out as much. The image was much sharper.

Have fun stamping and baking! and thanks for stopping by!!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek: Congratulations and cake

Mini cake Congratulations

Yep, I finally baked for this release! :)

Mini cake Cake

To make the mini cake, I used two circle cookie cutters and cut out the layers. I frosted the two layers with butter cream frosting. Then I rolled out fondant to cover each layer. Now, I would like to be able to take credit for the amazing coverage of fondant, but I cannot. My dear, sweet, oh so much more patient than I am hubby did it. Isn’t he fantastic? :)

Mini cake Card

This card measures 4x4.” While making the mini cake, I wrapped the bottom of the layers with ribbon. So, I thought I would mimic that look with my paper cake. I stamped the two largest cake layers on cardstock and then adhered a small strip of patterned paper to the bottom of each layer.

Mini cake Pick

And here is a cake pick I made with one of the sentiments. Quick and easy and cute!

Cake Shoppe and Cake Shoppe, Too will be available tomorrow, July 14th, at iheartpapers.com! Be sure to stop back tomorrow for another project and links to all the design team’s projects. They are fabulous, let me tell you!! :) thanks for stopping by!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek and a Video

Flower Cake

One of my favorite cake designs (yes, I have a lot of favorites), matches up cakes with fresh flowers. They lift each layer and place flowers in between. Why not do that with paper? :)

Flower Cake CU

I stamped each cake layer individually onto patterned paper and cut them out. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom layer, knowing how I wanted the pieces laid out. Then several Big Scalloped Circles Large (#1 die) were die cut from patterned paper. I made my favorite flowers (Video: HERE) and added pearls to the centers. Starting at the bottom, I foam mounted the largest layer to the Labels Ten shape, followed by a row of flowers. The middle layer was added, along with another row of flowers. And finally the top layer. The leaves were added at the end.

Many of you have requested a how-to about making my leaves. They are my favorite because they are easy and the best part is, they are made with one die template! Enjoy the goofy and quick video!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek in purple

Purple Cake

A simple cake for the peek today, but one that was inspired by my mom. My mom loves purple. So when I started learning to decorate cakes, I just HAD to learn how to make this cake:

brimming-with-roses-cake-main

You can see how this cake influenced the stamp designs used on this card. :)

Well, I made that cake, in purple, for her, for Mother’s Day. I didn’t get a close up photo of the cake, but you can see it in this layout. That is me on the right, my sister on the left, and my mom in the middle.

JusttheGirls

Purple Cake CU

The cakes are easy to color and add embellishments to. There is a ton of possibilities with these images. I cannot wait to see what you come up with, once Cake Shoppe and Cake Shoppe, Too become available at iheartpapers.com on July 14th!

thanks for stopping by!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek Topsy Turvy Cake

Topsy Turvy Cake

The sneak peeks for the latest Mint Motif stamp sets continue today! :)

One cake design I am fond of, is the topsy turvy cake. You know, the ones that look like an Alice in Wonderland cake. With the straight lines included in Cake Shoppe and Cake Shoppe Too, it is very easy to create one. And, there are less calories involved with the stamps. *wink, wink*

Topsy Turvy Cake CU

I thought I would make a video about how to create this cake. Hope you like it!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek Day 2

Best wishes Daisy Cake

Best Wishes Daisy Cake CU

Are you hungry for cake yet? I am! :) Today’s peek takes a look at the daisy border that I think is super sweet. Starting at the bottom, I stamped the longest daisy border. Then the largest sides. Another daisy border and well, you get the idea. I found that starting at the bottom makes building the layers much easier. The centers of the daisies were colored with a Copic marker. And then I added some Copic colored pearls to some of the centers.

One more cool thing about this set to point out, the sentiments all fit in the cake layers. Oooh, that just gave me a good idea… :)

Another peek and a tutorial is coming tomorrow, love this one! thanks for stopping by!
