Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Stamps Flower Show blog hop! I am SO thrilled to be a part of this hop! I have long been a fan of Claire and her talents!

 

For my card today, I used the new set, Folk Art Medallion. Its so, so pretty! I was drawn to the idea of being able to create a folksy looking chalkboard background. This set is so brilliantly designed that all the little pieces and parts face the right ways so you can create exactly that look! Yay!

The flower I added is Spiral Blossom Four  from Spellbinders. Who can resist putting that flower on a card?I cannot.

The leaves are an interesting story and then they turned into a great card making tip!! I wanted to stamp the leaves in a beautiful mint green color (like in the paper pad I was using…). Sadly, amongst the hundreds of ink pads I own, there was nothing mint green. Then I got to thinking, because I was going to have mint green leaves! What would happen if I heat embossed the stamped image with clear embossing powder after it had been stamped onto the correct color of patterned paper? And look! It worked! The perfect color leaves!

Pleated Border Video Tutorial

Today’s video is going to show you how to take Spellbinders™ Borderabilities® and American Crafts fabric-backed paper to create this oh, so shabby chic, pleated border.

Now, let me apologize straight off for the video. I honestly should have re-done it, but it was so funny, I figured, why not let you all see how things *really* go in my world?! My cat wakes up from his nap, much to my surprise, because he was under my feet! And he bumps the camera out of alignment and joins in the project making. Hopefully you can still see how to create the border while laughing in the process! :)

1. Can I use Spellbinders dies in other machines? Yes! Spellbinders dies are universal! I cannot promise you can cut all the materials (such as cork, fabric, etc.) with other machines, though.For a complete list of all the compatibilities and so much more information, click HERE for the Spellbinders website.
2. Isn’t there removable tape I can use to hold my dies in place? Yep! Scotch makes a great removable tape. I wanted to point out that you can use whatever you have on hand. Mine is in storage, in an undisclosed location. (I cannot wait to move into our new house!)

a happy birthday card

Can you ever have enough birthday cards? This card is just some playing around. If I had to pick a starting place, it would be the rose trim. I picked it up a long time ago at a fabric store. Isn’t it beautiful? I paired the trim with papers from Basic Grey and Anna Griffin. The stamps are from Waltzing Mouse and Papertrey Ink.

Its once again been crazy around here. We sold our house in MN (yayayay!!), I did Spellbinders demos at the local scrapbooking store for National Scrapbooking Day, and I came down with some serious crud and spent a couple days in bed. Which all of you moms know, just isn’t good. On the positive side, the little man has started to “read” me books. He has them memorized and what isn’t memorized, he is using the pictures to fill in the rest of the story. This former reading teacher is very proud!! And my special news is coming this week! I cannot wait until Thursday!!

Waltzingmouse stamps

My love for all things Spellbinders (TM) is pretty evident. I would be using their product even if I was not on their design team. I mean, come on, genius right? Well, add my friend, Claire Brennan, to my favorite die templates, and the level of creative brilliance hits all new heights!

Claire recently started her own line of stamps called, Waltzingmouse Stamps. And the genius is, that a couple of her sets are designed to work with Spellbinders (TM) die templates!!

For these two cards, I used Very Vintage Labels No. 4. Gorgeousness that fits right into the dies!! Just one tip to point out…I stamp first THEN cut. I put the die in place, over the stamped image, and then add a little piece of low-tack tape, to keep it in place, before I cut/emboss.

This image was stamped in Vintage Cream pigment ink onto black cardstock. Yummy. Look at the results. Claire’s stamps are fantastic! VERY nice quality (same feel as PTI). Another joyful discovery I made was, the Petite Ovals Large fit inside the Very Vintage image. Which is how I made the cream oval with the sentiment.

The same image was stamped in black ink onto cream cardstock. Beautiful space to add another die cut or just to stamp upon. I must mention the prevalence of Target in this post. You might be wondering where the unique color combination for Christmas cards came from. I was walking in Target (when am I not? and you know I am there this morning, literally, as this posts, I will be the first one in!! :)) and saw this display of towels that stopped me in my tracks. Cream, black, grey and red. They were inspiring. So much so, that I had to come home and make many, many cards! :) And on that same trip, I found my newest love, the red cake stand used in the photos!! Isn’t it fabulous? I adore cake stands. I have no idea why, but isn’t it fabulous? :) thanks for stopping by!
