stamping on a wood pallet

My love for wood pallets is no secret. So any chance I have to work with one of the wood pallets from Jillibean Soup, I am very excited! Our design team challenge this month was to focus on stamping on our projects. Yay for me! I was curious how the wood pallet would take a stamped image and I was pleasantly surprised!

I applied Happy Hues Witty White paint to my stamp with a foam brush, making sure to cover the surface evenly. I pressed firmly onto the pallet and you can see the results. Obviously, this won't be clean and crisp like ink to paper, but for rustic charm, the results were fantastic!

Once the paint dried, I added a journaling card trimmed from a piece of patterned paper. I distressed the edges with a distressing tool to add to the rustic feel. The flower from Summer Red Raspberry Soup is layered on with foam adhesive. There is something about orange and blue together that makes me happy!

Around the journaling card, I added two large wood veneer butterflies. For the centers, I used new mini clothespins from Alphabet Soup II. 

I am pretty excited at how this 6x6 wood pallet turned out after being stamped upon! I am thinking that I need to find some Christmas supplies and make one for the upcoming holidays!

creating a pencil, pencil jar with Jillibean Soup

With all the adorable canning jar crafty projects out there, I had to try my hand at one myself! This month at Jillibean Soup, the design team was challenged to find a project on Pinterest that inspired us, and then use that inspiration create our own version. With Happy Hues Paints, it was easy to create this adorable pencil jar that I saw on Pinterest from the website, A Pumpkin and a Princess. Perfect for a teacher gift, this pencil jar, painted to look like a pencil, could also be filled with candy or any other treat.

I started this project by spray painting the jar with white paint. I used a formula meant for covering all surfaces, to have a nice primer for my paint. Happy Hues Yummy Yellow was painted on the bottom, and Precocious Pink on the top. It will take 2-3 coats of paint for an even coverage.

Then I created a simple and personalized tag to tie around the pencil jar. (That makes me giggle. Its a pencil jar that looks like a pencil. Ha!) Behind a Kraft Tag, I adhered a piece of patterned paper, trimmed to fit, to allow the pattern to show through the star opening.Then I layered label stickers on the top of the tag. Mini Alpha Stickers were applied to spell out the teacher's name. Finally, another star sticker was added over the star opening. The tag was tied to the jar with some brightly colored baker's twine. My favorite.

The pencil jar (hee hee) was pretty fun to make! Waiting for the paint to dry was the most time consuming part of this project. But during that time, I made the tag. sew sweet sunshine soup; Jillibean Soup

I am in love with the latest collection from Jillibean Soup called, Sew Sweet Sunshine Soup! Its bright and fun and in my color wheelhouse! For this card I used a printed transparency from Bella Blvd as the base. The transparencies are thick and hold up as a base well. I used double sided papers and journaling cards from Jillibean Soup, so the inside is just as pretty as the outside. I used E-Z Dots adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. The small dots are less obvious through the transparency.

I used a transparency again on this card. But this time to add color, I painted Happy Hues Yummy Yellow on the back. Its such a great look! I need to do that again! The Happy Hues paints dried quickly on the transparency, faster than I ever imagined!

If I had a sewing themed collection, I HAD to create some wall hangings with embroidery hoops!

Everything in the Sew Sweet Sunshine Soup collection coordinates so well, it makes it easy to layer and play and have fun!

This is the perfect sentiment! I loved adding the stitching detail with rub-ons!! I cannot stitch or sew or whatever, but these rub-ons make it look like I can!

These colors are so fantastic! Its hard to go wrong! Keep an eye out for this new collection at your local scrapbooking store! When I find it online, I will let you know!

using Happy Hues paints on paper and wood

This month at Jillibean Soup, the design team was challenged to use Happy Hues paints on our projects. It wasn't all that hard to do because these new paints from Jillibean Soup are fantastic! They come in 10 fabulous colors! Bright and cheery and truly the perfect pallet of colors! One of the the things I like best about the paints is how well they work for paper. They dry very quickly when applied to paper and cause barely any curling. Keep reading to learn about all the 

fun I had with these!

On this card, paint was applied (with a foam brush) to stamps, just like ink. Saffron Yellow Pepper Soup stamps have open and solid image flowers, making this awesome background possible!

How fun is this? I have to admit that I am not the best when it comes to making backgrounds, something about my type-A perfectionism, but these stamps and paints made me just have fun!

Oh, and check out the butterflies. Those are Summer Red Raspberry Wood Veneers painted. 

Instant custom embellishments with paint!

To not take away from the look of the background, I added a Soup Label from Saffron Yellow Pepper Soup and a small strip of patterned paper.

Because the stamping was so fun, I just kept going! 

I applied paint to my stamps and had fun! It does not require much paint for a good image because the paint spreads out as you press it to your paper. I added a small dot of paint to the center of each flower for more color.

Strips of patterned paper, a sticker, and a couple of butterflies finished this one off easily.

A Mini Placemat (white, die-cut cardstock) was the inspiration for this card. That sunshine just had to be yellow! Once dry, which wasn't very long, it was foam mounted to my card.

I added some painted Summer Red Raspberry Wood Veneers.

And a couple of Soup Label stickers to finish things off. I like layering the Soup Label stickers to add interest. The aqua sentiment sticker was not enough pop. The butterfly sticker behind really added some depth.

And because I cannot get enough of these wood pallets...a home decor piece using the paints.

On this 8x8 Wood Pallet, each of the slats was painted with a different color. I added water to each of the colors, a small amount, to water the color down and create more of a color wash. The wash would allow the wood and the wood grain to show through more than with the solid paint.

The words were cut from cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and then the negative was used as a stencil to paint through. I love the results! And I love that I can adjust all my cut files to whatever size I need, based on the project. So helpful! And to finish it off, a small painted 

wood veneer star was placed inside one letter of each word. 

Simple, but cute. A great piece to add to any summer decor!
