thanks and goodbyes

Stampers Dream Thanks

Today’s post is a bittersweet one for me. It is my last day with the team at Stamper’s Dream. Being on Michelle Rodger’s team has been wonderful and the whole team is so talented, it amazes me. But, life is busy and it is time to move on. I could never express my gratitude and love, so I won’t even try. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Happy Friday everyone! Today is the last day of JustRite Christmas week at Stamper’s Dream. Have you been singing Christmas songs? :) Our little man wants to watch Frosty the Snowman. I just couldn’t let him, yet. :) Check out Carolyn, Amy, and Michelle’s blog’s today.

I love the bells image from the Merry Little Christmas set and wanted to use them on a card. I tried coloring them several different ways, but decided that the watercolor pencil image matched the shabby look I was hoping to achieve. The sketch is from 2Sketches4You this week. LOVE those sketches!

Hope that you have wonderful weekend plans! DH came home yesterday from a business trip, so I am glad to get things back to normal! Make sure and check out my second post today. thanks so much for stopping by!

JustRite Christmas Week: Family Card

JR Holiday Demi Family Card

I love the way you can personalize the Holiday Demi Phrases stamps from JustRite Stampers. They are half stamps, meaning, they are only half of the circle. Which leaves you with the bottom half to be creative with! :) How perfect to be able to personalize your family Christmas card! To be able to do this, JustRite has done something brilliant. Pick up the 2” handle, which is made for all the Demi Phrases stamps and it comes with the Times New Roman 15 pt. font. See how easy that is?

JR Holiday Demi Family Card Inside

This is a photo of the little man a couple of Christmas’s ago. He loves his Santa hat and wears it from the day the decorations come out until we put them away! :) I knew I had to use this photo when I saw the Santa Hat in the Merry Little Christmas stamps. The front piece is a belly band, one that just slips off the top of the card. Easy and cute! :) Check out Michelle's and Denise’s blog today too!

have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

JustRite Christmas Week: Christmas Treasures

JR Christmas Treasures Bird

My grandpa was an avid bird watcher. He had feeders all over the yard and one in front of the kitchen booth, where we ate our meals. There was a bird watching book sitting on a shelf and we had more fun pouring over those books and listening to grandpa try and whistle like each one. Somehow that has passed on to each of our families and now its rare that a Christmas goes by without someone getting a feeder, book, or some new feed to try. When I saw this burlap bag, I knew it would be perfect to put seed in. And then to be able to add the bird tag was just perfect!! The images in Christmas Treasures are wonderful to color and would make perfect gift box tags too!

Check out Tosha, Michelle, and Laurie’s blogs today for more Christmas inspiration.

have a fantastic day and thanks for stopping by!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

“It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC30)! It is the last Tuesday of the month so we have a guest challenge host this week. Our challenge host is Liz Williams(lazylizard). Liz is challenging us to use pearls on our cards. Whether you want to use pearlized papers, pearlx, pearl paints, halfback pearls, or actual pearl beads, whatever you choose to use we would love to see what you create.”

Check out the rest of the team:

  • Betty Wright
  • Cindy Haffner
  • Dee Jackson
  • Silke Ledlow
  • Liz Williams
  • Pearls

My very simple card uses pearls as accents. But, the one thing I wanted to share about pearls, is the ability to change their color! If you have Copics or alcohol inks, you can make your pearls match any project you are working on. I wanted to add a unique splash of color to this card. Using a Copic Sketch marker (Y15), I colored the pearls right on their backing sheet. Once they dried (pretty much instantly), I cut them apart and placed them in the pattern of the background. Keep lots of white pearls on hand, a little bit of ink, and you will always have the perfect color embellishment!

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback and constructive criticism about my first video tutorial, you are all the best!! Seems like it is something you would like to see continue. I am hoping to do a video every other week, so stay tuned. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

JustRite Christmas Week at Stamper’s Dream

JR Something Sweet Cocoa and Coasters

It is JustRite Christmas week at Stamper’s Dream! The whole team will be inspiring you all week long with fabulous gift giving and card making ideas! (sad to think its time for this already, but let’s get into the Christmas spirit, I can sing, if you need! :))

When I saw the cocoa mug stamp, my first thought was, that looks like my favorite mugs!! I have a set of 4 red Tracey Potter mugs that I adore. I don’t let anyone else use them. Seriously. For some reason they make my hot chocolate taste better. LOL! :)

So the idea that popped into my head was to make coasters. The red scalloped circle is adhered to a pre-cut piece of cork. Make your layers, take them to your local copy shop, have them laminated, then cut the shape from the laminate with the exact same die template, and viola! I would use a serious adhesive to attach the laminated paper to the cork, just to make them last longer.

My other tip is, grab holiday mugs at the end of the season. (because I am NOT giving away my favorite one! :)) Places like Target have the fancy sets and also the cutesy individual ones on clearance. They make perfect quick gifts. And you can put homemade hot chocolate, a gift card, a sleeve of golf balls, or even fun socks inside. Add a personalized tag made with JustRite Stampers and you have a thoughtful gift!

Check out Tosha, Michelle, and Denise’s blogs today-wow!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Video Tutorial: Letter Press with Impressabilities

Here it is. My first video tutorial. I cover; Letter Pressing with Impressabilities, a cool way to letter press and emboss with a die template, and how to letter press with a single piece of an Impressabilities.
Let me know what you think, as I am learning the best way to share and your feedback will be invaluable!! And, go ahead and laugh at my unstyled hair and my SAHM outfit! :)

Some of you have mentioned not being able to hear this. I visited my blog and played it without issue. There is a volume control on the tool bar where you can turn the volume up. It is located next to the time. I hope that helps. :)

If you cannot get the video to play, here is a link:

    *NEW* Impressabilities Technique

Permission has been given and I am SO thrilled to be sharing with you a brand new Impressabilities technique!!! I came up with this idea while playing around with my tools several months ago. I love using my Colorbox Stylus tool to ink the edges of my paper. But as I was staring at it, I thought, what can I do with the foam end? Then I remembered that Colorbox used to sell molding plates for the foam tips. Not having those, I looked at the Flower Impressabilities laying on my desk and thought, a ha!

    Heating Stylus Tip

Start by heating the black foam tip of your stylus tool. I use my crafting light. It does not take much heat to make it pliable.

    Impressing Stylus

Push the heated foam tip onto the Impressabilities. I chose the flower that would fit my tip before I did this.

    Stylus Impressed

Here is what the tip looks like. The image will not go away until you re-heat the tip.

    Stamping with Stylus

Ink the foam tip, just like any stamp.

    Stamped Image

Here is the image stamped onto a Petite Oval die cut.

    Colorbox Stylus CU Image

Here is a look at the image used on a card.

    Colorbox Stylus Card and Tag

And here is the completed project. Isn’t that fun? Let me know what you think and I would LOVE to see what you create with this!! thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Spellbinders Die Templates-Classic Ovals Large, Petite Ovals Small, Nested Butterflies, Flower Impressabilities, Colorbox Stylus Tool, Patterned paper-Chatterbox (Fabulous), Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate), Stamps-Hero Arts (Everyday Messages), Ink-Clearsnap (Colorbox Chalk Chocolate and Blueberries Que), Ribbon-Creative Impression, Twine-Wright’s, Gems-Hero Arts, Pearls-Kaiser Craft (Pewter), Buttons-Papertrey Ink (New Leaf)

Something else pretty cool will be on my blog tomorrow, my first video tutorial!! I can't wait to hear what you think!!

    JustRite Christmas Blog Hop

    JRSomethingSweetOrnamentBox

Yay! Today is the JustRite Christmas Blog Hop! For my project, I chose to make an ornament and a box to hold it. Christmas ornaments have become important in our house since our son was born. I never understood the goofy ornaments my mom always put up on our tree, but now I get it. And I have started to collect goofy, but so meaningful ornaments for our son.

This is a basic box. It measures 4.25” square and the sides are 1” high. To create the closure, I cut and embossed the smallest Label 4 shape. I adhered the top of the shape to the top of the box, and the bottom half has velcro, to make it easier to open and keep closed.

    JRSomethingSweetOrnamentBoxInside

The ornament is a basic glass edged ornament from Michael’s. I covered the backside of the ornament with Elmer’s Paint Pens in blue. It took two coats. If you try this, be very light handed with the second coat, so you don’t disturb the bottom one. Love the ease and coverage of the markers.

I stamped the snowman image from the JustRite Stamper’s set, Something Sweet. Use an ink made for glass and heat set.

    JRSomethingSweetOrnamentBoxCUSides

One more peek at the box. For the sides, I embossed a Snowflakes Impressabilities with kraft cardstock. Then I pushed Canvas Palette ink over the cardstock to bring out the snowflake pattern.

Look at this list of amazing designers! Check out all their amazing projects and get inspired for a handmade Christmas! :)

friend and my very best friend

    Friendly Daisies

Today brings another look at a new Flourishes stamp set called, Gerbera Daisies. Michelle will have this one and Cherries and Peaches available in the Stamper’s Dream store tonight. (she also got some new My Mind’s Eye goodies in too, might be a good night for shopping)

I colored the image in with Copics and added airbrushing to the background, while the paper was still in the Labels 8 die. The background papers are Basic Grey June Bug and October Afternoon Cherry Hill. See the little butterflies? Those images are in the stamp set also. I stamped them onto text patterned paper, colored them with pale Copics, inked them to distress, and foam mounted them to the card. Whew. That’s a lot of work for two small butterflies! :) LOL!

    wedkiss1

Today is a very special day. My DH and I have been married for 10 years. Wow! Time flies by! To this day, I am still in awe at the man I get the privilege of spending the rest of my life with. This man is more amazing than I could ever express in words. And the fact that he puts up with me and caters to all my wildest whims, is miraculous! I have been blessed with the greatest partner and I love him more and more each and every day. He is the answer to my heart’s deepest prayers. Did you know that we don’t even know the first time we met? :) Our college roomies dated, so he was just always around, or I was! :) It wasn’t until right before our roomies got married, that we reconnected. We started dating at their wedding and were engaged quickly. I love the song, “Keeper of the Stars” by Tracy Byrd. The lyrics say,” it was no accident, me finding you, someone had a hand in it, long before we ever knew.”

Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

    Spellbinders art work

0509 KC card being me 300

I am SO excited to share these projects with you!! This first Spellbinders project is featured in the New Release catalog and highlights the totally fabulous Letter Press technique that is all the rage. By inking an Impressabilities, placing cardstock over the top of it, and then running it through the machine, you get this gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous, inked and embossed pattern.

Supplies: Spellbinders Die Templates-Flower Impressabilities, Rectangles Large, Scalloped Rectangles Large, Nested Butterfly, Patterned paper and sticker-Chatterbox (Fabulous), Ribbon-Creative Impression, Ink-Clearsnap (ColorBox Chalk Pumpkin Que, Chocolate and Blueberries Que), Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate)

    KimberlyCrawfordNewImpressabilities

This is the card that is featured on the Circle Cut Impressabilities packaging. That still amazes me!!! This card also uses the Letter Press technique. Isn’t that background groovy?

Supplies: Spellbinders Die Templates-Circle Cut Impressabilities (available early September), Labels 4, Stamps-Hero Arts (Everyday Messages), Ink-Clearsnap (Colorbox Chalk Black), Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Stamper’s Select White, Raspberry Fizz, True Black)

Kimberly Crawford Baby Ensemble for Terri O view 2

And finally one more project featured in the New Release catalog. This is a baby shower ensemble that utilizes the wonderful new Borderabilities. I used the Eyelet Borderabilities to create a napkin ring, the bottom border of a name place card, the border of a flap of a treat box, and the decorative ring around a cupcake holder. So much fun! :)

Supplies: Spellbinders Die Templates-Eyelet Borderabilities, Patterned paper and Stamps-Crate (Lil Sprout), Ink-Clearsnap (Colorbox Chalk Pumpkin Que), Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream), Twine-May Arts, Buttons-Papertrey Ink

    Live the Sweet Life

    removedforpubsign

This card will appear in the Paper Crafts Special Issue, Stamp It! in January 2010.

The new Flourishes releases will be available at Stamper’s Dream on Friday night. Every month I think, it couldn’t possibly get better, but, oh yes it did! This is one of the newest set, Peaches and Cherries. And yummy would be the perfect word! :)

Flourishes has beautiful images to color, which I love. But this time, I thought, I want to try something different. I stamped the image 3 times onto Neenah Solar White paper with Memento ink in Tuxedo Black. One image I cut out. The second image I only colored the leaves and cut them out, and with the third image, I did the letter press technique. (to see how to do this, see my tutorial HERE). I used chalk ink on my Paisley Impressabilities and ran it through the Wizard. Then I added more ink to the white areas on the peaches. I chose an ink that was two shades lighter than what I had used on the Impressabilities. (the Colorbox Chalk ink Ques make this pretty easy) I layered the pieces on top of the complete image with foam dots.

The patterned papers are from October Afternoon’s Cherry Hill collection, in a fabulous 8x8 size, and I used the sketch from 2Sketches4You again this week. It really got my mojo going again. Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

    Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

“It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC28)!! This week Silke Ledlow is our challenge host. Silke is challenging us to score it!!! We are to use any scoring tool we have to create score detailing on our cards. If you do not have any neat scoring device, no fear, scoring can be done with the groove of a trimmer and a bone folder or stylus. Your designs can be very intricate to classically simple. Whatever design you go for, we'd love to see what you create.” Check out the team’s blogs:

  • This card will appear in the Paper Crafts Special Issue, Stamp It! in January 2010.

I wanted to score just a small part of my card, so I chose the bottom of the image panel. I cut it long purposely, to let me do that. I like the look. I think I would like it even better on a panel going horizontally. Simple, but that’s me! :) Hope you are having a wonderful day! thanks for stopping by!

    You're So Sweet 2S4Y

My friend and fellow Spellbinders design team member, Kazan Clark, runs a fabulous sketch site with her friend Laura Davis, called 2Sketches4You. LOVE their sketches. I never seem to find the time, so this week, I decided to take the time, I mean, who cares about clean dishes, right? :)

Have any good weekend plans? We finished our new retaining wall in front of the house this week, so I am imaging that we will be moving dirt, rocks, and planting this weekend. Let’s hope for some decent weather. It seems to be something we are short on this summer. I will have to share photos of it when we finish, along with the deck. The before (when we bought it almost 2 years ago) and after photos of the house will astound you. It amazes me! :) Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Can anyone else not stop coloring these strawberries from Flourishes? Too much fun! :) The label shape is the new Labels 8 from Spellbinders. Cosmo Cricket Boyfriend

sending a smile across the miles

The new Cosmo Cricket line, Boyfriend, is a ton of fun! Cute, kind of kitschy, with great muted colors! For this first card, I stamped a wood grain background in dark brown ink on dark chocolate cardstock. Once it dried, I stamped the sentiment in Watermark ink and heat embossed with detail powder. The smiley face zipper pull was too fun to resist. (gotta love a goofy stash of odds and ends!)

    removedforpubsign

Sorry! This card has been removed for publication in the January 2010 Scrapbook Trends special issue: Quick and Easy Idea Book. :)

One more card thanks to the stash! :) I grabbed some clothespins and some thick jute. I knew I had this cute sentiment, which was too perfect. This line is shipping now, so you should be able to get your hands on it soon! :)

    Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

“It's Tuesday which means it's time for another Timeless Tuesday challenge (FTTC27). This week, your DH might even get excited about the challenge because it's all about hardware! And, when we say hardware we mean metal of any kind. So, let's see how creative you can get - frames, eyelets, paperclips, staples, brads - you name it! If it is metal, it works!”

Check out the rest of the team:

  • Betty Wright
  • Cindy Haffner
  • Dee Jackson
  • Silke Ledlow
  • Copper Hope

Here is my take on the challenge. Isn’t that background the coolest? Read on to learn how to create the look. One thing I did want to point out was the background of the cardstock, it is stamped, but it didn’t photograph well. The background is stamped with the butterfly from Butterfly Moments.

    Copper Hope Supplies

To create the copper background, I used Royal Engraving Art Board in Copper. I ran the Butterflies Impressabilities and the board through my Wizard. Then, I sanded the black surface off the board and the copper finish comes through. (you should see the new Impressabilities with this stuff-wowee!)

In honor of their second birthday, Flourishes is starting something that you are going to FLIP over!!! :) F=Flourishes, L=Loyalty, I=Incentive,P=Program. Check out all the details on the Flourishes Newsletter Blog!!

    FLIP - Regal Pink copy

Flourishes birthday month, yes, they need the whole month, is so packed with fun, you won’t want to miss out, so make sure and visit the Newsletter daily!!

I am starting to get into the groove again, so you should finally get some more cards and things this week. thanks so much for stopping by!

Supplies: Stamps-Flourishes (Butterfly Moments), Spellbinders Impressabilities (Butterfly), Royal Art Engraving Board (Copper, oooh, love this store, check out all their other stuff!!), Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (True Black), Ribbon-May Arts, Hope metal piece-my ancient stash

    more from CHA

    Spellbinders Booth v1

The Spellbinder’s booth. Beth Pingry and Terre Fry are showing it off for you. :) Amazing how a taped rectangle on the floor can turn into a beautiful booth. (ok, it took a ton of work) The booth is filled with artwork and all the dies in their packages. Kind of like a little store, without the buying. :) Retailers and distributors place their orders at this show. Look for the new dies around the very end of August, beginning of September.

    Spellbinders Booth v2

Here is the “front” of the booth. The left side table was for demo-ing the dies and the machine. The right side table was for doing the make and takes.

    Spellbinders Booth Personal Artwork

My work has been at CHA before, but to see so much of it was really unbelievable, truly a dream come true! It was so unreal when someone would walk up to you and ask you, “how did they do this?” This is just one spot on the back wall of artwork. Inspiring!!

    Spellbinders Booth Personal Artwork Packaging

After getting over the shock of seeing my artwork, I see this. That is the packaging for the new Impressabilities, Circle Cut. And that is my card on the packaging!!!!!!!!!!! There is something that I could have never dreamt about happening, and there it is. I cannot even put into words what it means to me or what it feels like to see that. Unreal.

    Dinner at Bubba's v1

After working hard on Monday, we all had a “meeting” at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Dinner was so yummy and the laughs were plenty. See poor Jerry down at the end? He must really love us all to put up with that many women!! :) (left to right; Karen Taylor, Terre Fry, Tobi Hall, Amy Romano, Stacey Caron, Jerry Poffel)

    Dinner at Bubba's v2

    Cath and i

Cath Edvalson. So patient with me! *wink*. Cath is the creative editor with Paper Crafts magazine. Her eye for style inspires me on her blog, Moxie Fab World. When I met Cath and Susan at the last CHA, I was so overwhelmed, I barely said two words to them, they must have thought I was a little odd. Can’t wait to see what caught Cath’s eye at this show!!

    Susan and i

Susan Opel. Couldn’t ask for a nicer person to be around! Susan is the creative editor from Paper Crafts. Love her style and humor. Same thing with Susan, when I met her last CHA, I was so awe struck, I couldn’t even ask for a photo! :)

    Tanisha and i

Tanisha Long. I have known Tanisha for quite sometime now, and to meet her was such a thrill! Amazingly talented scrapbooker and fabulous woman!!

    latisha and i

I love getting to meet your online friends, in real life!! Latisha Yost is fun and way too cute, not to mention a great card maker!

    Latiasha Nancy and i

One of the Flourishes!! YAY! Here is Nancy Kirk, with Latisha and myself. We both love designing for Flourishes and had fun discussing all the fun birthday plans in store for Flourishes in August! :)

    Emilie and i

Emilie Ahern. Uber talented scrapbooker who runs The Scrap Review. She stopped by the booth and did a make and take.

    Broni and i

Sweet and lovely Broni Holcombe. We used to be at Color ThrowDown together. She is kind and talented! ((HUGS)) (She calmly leans over, while I am demo-ing, and Bev snaps the photo, so hilarious!!)

Lovely people I had the honor of meeting for the first time; Keri Lee Serika, Julie Masse, Charity Hassel, Kimber McGray, Beverly Nash, Mandy Starner, AJ Otto, Jimmi Mayo, Cambria Turnbow, Joy Kennedy, Sherry Cheever, Bev Gerard, Kitty Caracciolo, Chris Pozzi, Fran from Stampendous, Laura Weed, Lori Roop, Angela Robledo, Jeanne Streiff

Wonderful people that I got to spend time with again; Lynn Mercurio, Debbie Olson, Marianne Walker

More wonderful people I got to see and wave to, but never talk to; Nichole Heady, Dawn McVey, Heather Nichols, Maren Benedict, and Becca Feeken. Sorry ladies, I hope next time!!!

If I forgot anyone, I am terribly sorry!! Please email me asap! :) And if you have more photos, please, please, please email them to me!! :) Things were so busy all the time!!

With all the fun and craziness, I do have to say that the best thing about being gone, was coming home! I missed my little man and my DH terribly. I got huge hugs at the airport (imagine a 3 year old tree frog :)) and a dozen red roses on the kitchen table. Now THAT is worth more than anything and truly makes me one completely blessed woman. thanks for stopping by!
