somebunny: MFT February Release Rewind

Hello everyone! I am back with one more look at the February release from MFT Stamps. These couple of days are for the team to share projects we didn't have the chance to share during the release. This month there was sooo much good stuff, that I left this adorable set from Birdie Brown called, Somebunny, until the end. Mostly because I was working on a coloring technique. Its water coloring with a light-colored stamped image. The idea is to make it look as if it was painted completely. I am new to the technique, so my results are not where I want them to be, but with some practice, I am pretty excited about how well this technique works!

I will give you a quick photo tutorial here, but when I get better, I will make a video. Here is a look at the supplies I used.

I cut my watercolor paper first. Then stamped the bunny from Somebunny using Hybrid Natural ink.

Then I colored my Distress Markers on an acrylic block. Using water and several different sized paint brushes, I applied the color to the image.

A work in progress. Be sure and place the brush down in the spot where you want the most color, or the darkest intensity and work away from it. And one thing I noticed, is that the Hybrid ink was taking on the color painted by it. I kinda like that. It made the edges of the image stand out without me having to work at it too hard.

How could I not add a cotton ball to the bunny's tail? Before stamping and water coloring the image, I die cut my watercolor paper with Die-namics Inside &; Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle STAX. Look at those cool lines!

The card base is the new yummy color, Summer Splash. I stamped it with Striped Background using Sno Cone ink. The image panel was layered onto a piece of Sour Apple cardstock for a tiny bit more color.

This card features a bunny I was experimenting upon with the color technique as well. This time, I stamped a darker color of ink, Kraft (dye-based), to see how it would work. It doesn't look as hand painted as the lighter color of ink. Its okay though, because now I know which colors will give me certain looks.

Die-namics Inside & Out Diagonal Stitched Square STAX cut out my bunny pretty well, so I thought, why not make this little bunny a focal point?

The Sweet Tooth cardstock base was stamped with a small flower image from Somebunny, repeatedly in different colors. I stamped the sentiment in the same color ink as the bunny. Simple and sweet, as always.

Visit the MFT Blog and get linked up to the rest of the team. Let them inspire you while you wait for your order to arrive!

thanks for stopping by!

I tried this a while ago and was struggling with the right color ink, I didn't like how it turned out- maybe I need a lighter one, yours is super cute. ;) and happy bday to E!

I love them! Wish I could color like that. Can't wait for you to post the video. Usually everybody colors with Copics, I don't own any of them, or the distress markers either, but you should probably be able to use the ink pads.
