MFT Creative Challenge + TWO Video tutorials

Welcome to the August design team Creative Challenge! This month the team was challenged to create projects with watercolor! Who doesn't love the look? Its so much fun and versatile and I could not wait to share with you a couple of techniques!

I have two different techniques on this card today and I cannot wait to share!

First up, color pencil watercolor resist! Ok, that's a mouthful, but the technique is very cool! I used Stencil  Large Polka Dot and a color pencil to color on the butterfly. The butterfly was cut from Sweet Tooth cardstock using Die-namics Winged Beauties. Watch the video below to see how to create the watercolor resist!

Remember, you can click the play button in the window, or you can click the link above to watch the video.

The second watercolor technique on this card is the background. I used Stencil Jumbo Polka Dot. By applying Blu Raspberry ink through the stencil with a water brush, I was able to make a more controlled watercolor background. And I took it one step farther by stamping through the stencil with Typewriter Text Background. It added another layer and dimension. And hey, it was fun!

One more card with the Color Pencil Watercolor Resist technique. For this card I used Stencil Starry Nights and colored through it using a bright yellow pencil.

The watercolor over the top is watered down Nightshift Blue ink. (note to self and to you, wet your paper first before applying color to this large of an area, the color will be much smoother. but after you color with the pencil.)

The sentiment from Happy Graduation fit perfectly for the background. And the vellum helps keep the attention drawn to it as well.

Head over to the MFT Blog to see who is sharing inspiration today! You must go, because I saw some cards that knocked my socks off! What an amazingly talented group of women!

thanks for stopping by!
