FUN!

Today is about having some fun! But it starts with me being thankful. SO thankful for not only the blessings in my real life, but the blessings from all the online friends I have had the privilege of getting to know. I can’t believe it, but I passed 300,000 hits early last week!! I am totally amazed! And its all thanks to you!! So, in honor of the milestone, let’s bring out the blog candy!

300 000 blog candy 2

The first part of the candy includes 2 Spellbinders Impressabilities. Spellbinders not only makes fabulous products that unleash my creativity, but they are truly wonderful to work for! I am thankful for the opportunity to create projects for them! Words could never express my thanks to Spellbinders!!

Also included is the stamp set, Vintage Greetings from Pink Persimmon. Another company that is wonderful to work for! I am thankful that Darcy and Judi have allowed me to work with their fabulous modern vintage images!

Stampendous is yet another happy place to be a part of! Talk about creativity and generosity!! And some clever products!! I have included two Fun Flock jars from them.

300 000 blog candy 1

Ah, the new Elmer’s Scrapbooking glues, Painter Pens, and the never out of reach X-Acto knife. Adhesives are good and seeing as I love to cut pieces out of patterned paper, the knife is also very good!

300 000 blog candy 3

And some more random knick knacks like, My Mind’s Eye die cut shapes and journal spots, SEI stamps, two clear scraps albums, Basic Grey stamps, Creative Imaginations rub ons, and a handful of Glitz glitter and gem stickers. Yes, all of this paper crafting goodness will be sent to the randomly drawn winner! Wahoo! That looks like a ton of winter fun!! :)

first stamp

Here is my first rubber stamp ever, from Stampendous. It was given to me by my mother-in-law to stamp our wedding invitations. This is where it all began. Add in an embossing ink pad, gold powder, and a heat gun, and the passion began. Sure, it was put on hold for a while, but somehow, it came back, and I am thankful it did. What an adventure paper crafting has taken me on in my life!

And that is how you can win the candy; Leave a comment here telling me about your very first stamp or you very first paper crafting purchase. You MUST answer the question (hey, its fun to read your stories) and you MUST MUST MUST leave me your email address at the end of your post. If you omit this information and I draw your name, you won’t be chosen as the winner. And that would make me sad. You may enter once and you have until 10 pm CST on Thursday, November 19, 2009.

thanks for listening and as always, thank you for stopping by!!

Congrats on your hits! Whew! That's a lotta stampin'!!
My first stamping experience was to take a card-making class at my LSS where I purchased the SU! Sketch It set immediately after the class. I was hooked instantly and the rest is history. I still have that set and probably won't ever part with it.

My first paper crafting purchase was a loong time ago: some decorated scissors (which I´ve never used again), a corner rounded punch and some paper.

Congrats on your hit!!

Ten years ago a friend invited me to a Creative Memories party. Quite frankly I was aggravated, she had several different "parties" where you had to buy something. I thought this one was a particular waste. Once we started I was totally enthralled. I bought a paper cutter, paper rounder, album, and some stickers. I still use that paper rounder. My friend never used her scrapbooking stuff but, it ended up being my FAVORITE "party" ever. It gave me something to feel passionate over! Ten years later it still makes me feel the same way! Thanks for the oppurtunity to win.

Do 2 different starts count? 15 years ago I found a really neat store in Chicago on a field trip with my than HS graduating daughter. I remember buying a Celebrate stamp and some little jewel tone stamp pads to do invites for my daughter...like you it never happened. She graduated, but no party.
More recently I feel like I kinda fell in and don't know exactly how it all happened. I remember the 1st of the year telling my now getting married daughter that I would furnish the invites for the wedding and make all the invite for her shower. Boy I bit off a big one...Crimped Envelope, Melanie Muenchinger did a tutorial on this. they were beautiful and it just seems like a blur now!

My first stamping purchase was a while ago when I took a stamping class with my mother. I believe it was either a snowflake or a little santa stamp, that I got to make handmade tags. :)
I still have both of those stamps and still use them actually!
thanks for a chance to win!

My daughter invited me to a Stampin Up party and I was hooked. I started with one set of the ink pads and some paper. I honestly can't remember what stamp set I ordered. I was hooked. I love making cards...although I thought that I would be scrapbooking more. I love making cards but have been sidelined a bit because of a family illness. I do what I can when I can, which has been more frequent lately.

Thanks for a chance to win and have a wonderful day.

For me, paper crafting was more computer generated at first, using clipart software and a few embellishments. I guess some colored cardstock from Garden Ridge's craft department was my first paper crafting purchase. Since stamping came later, my first stamps were some Rhonna Farrer clear stamps, which I still have and use.

Great giveaway! Becky

My first stamp? It was a set of flowers from Stampin up that a friend and I split. I got the rose on a step and a calla lily. It's funny how I still go back to that stamp today. I love the detail and how nice it is to stand alone without color or a tad bit of water color to give it the regal look. I know I made cards and gift tags that first year with those. I still find traces of those first stamps when I dig out my wrapping supplies.

My 1st stamp...
Well, I went to papermil for some card but as soon as I went in, I KNEW I'd be buying more! Over to the stamps I went and I saw loads of nice ones but, as it was my 1st I didn't want to get a really expensive one (as I thought knowing me i'd of ruined it somehow) and I saw some reduced ones and I got 2 smirk stamps and also 1 forever friends stamp! I still use them now but not as much.

Oops I forgot to add my email in my above post!

The first stamp set to lure me into the wonderful world of stamping was the Stampin' Up! Cold Play Snowman set. It actually wans't mine. Rather it was a gift that my then 7-year-old daughter received. Of course she needed help stamping and the rest, as you say, is history. About a year later, I was at a Scrapbook Expo and met a SU consultant. I started taking her classes and now my stamping collection includes multitude of SU sets plus tons of Technique Tuesday, Hero Arts, Inkadinkadoo, etc! Thanks for sharing your story and all of your beautiful projects. Any chance you'll post a picture of your wedding invitation for us to see?

My first stamp was a small rose on a stem. I thought I would "try" it as I used brass stencils only at that time. I shared with the lady (this was at a craft fair) that I would probably not like stamping because I loved the other so much. She told me that once I tried stamping that I would love it. I just smiled and bought the stamp. She smiled (cunningly) at me...now I know why! I was hooked only on one stamp!! I've not turned back since. Oh, the knowledge she possessed......

Arrica said...

Our first stamping purchase was a wood base rubber stamp with the Irish blessing, The Lord keep you... and it was purchased, not by me, but by my husband! haha He actually purchased the first several stamps and inks along with some cardstock. His approach was very simple and his motivation was to save money. I took it to a new level though. ;o)

First, Congratulations on all the hits. My first scrapbooking experience was in 1995 when I wanted to scrapbook my wedding pictures. I didn't have a clue as to what to buy. I went to Joanns and they weren't any help so I figured it out on my own. What can I say except it was my first album and will always hold a special place in my heart. Scrapbooking and stamping have changed a lot over the years but one thing remains constant that I love to creative and love to see what others are creating. By the way, I have many of those precious moment stamps and that is the topper that was on my wedding cake.
Blessings,

Congrats on the hits! I first started scrapbooking about 4-5yrs ago. Whenever I would go to my mom's her neighbor would see me and the grandkids sitting outside with my mom and she and her daughter would walk over and visit. We became friends. One day when I went to my mom's she walked over and said you have to come see what I got. She had ordered a scrapbooking kit off of QVC and signed up at our LSS for basic scrapbooking classes. The next time she showed me what she had created. That was it! That weekend she and I went to Michael's and I got a paper pad, adhevise and some embellishments ( I just borrowed her other supplies I needed). I have been hooked ever since.

Congrats on the hits! That is awesome! Now to your ?. I don't remember the 1st stamp I purchased but I remember how I got involved in this craft. I was working part-time at Michaels while in grad school. I would see so many customers buying what I called "this expensive piece of wood". Did not know how it was used but it was obviously popular. I asked a co-worker who was very artistic and that was the beginning of my love affair with rubber stamps. Could you believe I use to heat emboss over an electric stove? Couldn't afford the heat gun in grad school! Yoli (ynatal@msn.com)

My first stamping purchase was the SU Frosty set along with Basic Black and Real Red ink pads. A friend of mine was having a SU party and I knew asolutely nothing about stamping at the time. She even mounted the set for me when it came in! I used that purchase to make my very first Christmas cards.

Hi Kimberly, love the blog, keep that inspiration coming please! The first craft thing I bought was a pack of blank cards and some 3D foam and some wrapping paper with a repeating pattern. I had seen a lady on a TV Craft show do some decoupage and thought I could do that with wrapping paper! Turns out you can't!!! Oh dear, ended up buying some proper decoupage sheets and having stopped buying craft stuff ever since - although my tastes have changed wildy since I began and I like to think that my cards look a bit more professional now! Good Morning Kimberly,
Congrats on all of those hits!!!
My first stamping experience was with my 2 1/2 year old son, we were making cards for Father's Day. We went down to the local craft store to get everything. We worked on the cards all afternoon. (He is now 34 years old and I still have that card.) Now I am crafting with my Granddaughter she made her first card when she was the same age, I think we started a tradition. I have never stopped from that first time. I think I have done every craft out their and I still go back to card making and scrapbooking. Thank you for letting me go on and on! Gloria

I bought SU sets from a friend about 15-20 years ago to "help her out." I didn't do a thing with them for many years, but then I started watching Carol Duvall on HGTV, and that was that. I saw the Magenta girls work their magic, and I found a teacher who sold Magenta products and I haven't stopped for over five years now. It's therapeutic and satisfying!

About 15 years ago a friend introduced me to stamping. I raced to the stamp store (now sadly gone) and bought several stamps, paper, embossing powder, and a heat gun. I've been at it ever since. I don't remember exactly which stamps I bought that day, but I remember I thought it was quite costly. Little did I know what this hobby would ultimately cost me--but no regrets. I have always enjoyed it.

It's difficult to remember, because I was so young. I think it was these clear stamp things that were made for puff paints and shirt making. Each clear stamp had its own clear box. The next one I remember more clearly was a vintage looking rose, but I'm not sure of the company. One thing I do know for sure is that ink pads used to be terrible when I was a kid. They were all dye ink, and not very good one! Thanks for the opportunity to share a story and win some goodies.

My very first purchase was a set of Marvy markers, Adirondak black ink pad and watercolor paper to do watercolor stamping on cards. I had taken a class at my local library and after that, I was hooked. I discovered that night that I worked one mile from a major scrapbooking store and on my "lunch hour" I spent $500 on everything I need to begin the journey. I am sure it has been thousands of dollars from then until now, but more importantly, I have made thousands of friends and spent thousands of hours in pure bliss being inspired and exploring my creativity!!

I clearly remember the first time I saw heat embossing and that was what got me interested in stamping. I lived in Papua New Guinea and someone sent us a letter that had an embossed stamped image on it. I remember thinking "That is so cool! I am going to find out what that is called and learn how to do it." I was sixteen. Sixteen years later, I still have the first stamp I bought, a cute little bunny from PSX.

I started "scrapbooking" when I was in college. I had never heard of scrapbooking before, but just had colored paper laying around and wanted to display my pictures in a fun way. After I got two books done I learned about scrapbooking. It's fun to look back and see what I did before I had any clue. I keep learning more and more and have started making cards and stamping. So, my first items were the squigly scissors and just colored computer paper.

My first stamp purchase was at Provo Craft in Utah where my husband was working on his doctorate. I needed something to keep my step daughter entertained. So we found these rubber stamps, bought some paper, embossing powder and went home to have a blast! Learned quickly that a hair dryer does not melt embossing powder. We were both so proud of our final products and decided to buy some more stamps. What wonderful memories of my first experience with rubber stamping. Wow, congrats on 300k! I think my first stamping purchase was at a Stampin' Up party many years ago, probably a stamp set (or two!) and some inks but truthfully I don't remember. I didn't even know we had an LSS, but when I did find it....well, that was the beginning of a lifelong addiction. Thanks for the chance at this wonderful blog candy!

My sister and I stamped invites to my bridal shower in 2000 and then I took a break until 2004 when she convinced me to join a stamp club, I was hesitant but I joined and bought my first stamp set, sincere salutation. I was such a newbie, I didn't even know I had to cut them before mounting!!! Now, stamping takes up as much time as I can give it and I just love it!!!!!!!

What a great question! My very first rubber stamp was a pair of lips in the shape of a kiss. I used it to stamp the emd of a letter, or if I was feeling really bold, the back of the envelope in red ink of course. My next rubber stamps were the pre-inked variety that stamp COPY and ORIGINAL. Go figure!

Wow! I can't remember my first purchase of stamps but I do remember going to the local Ben Franklin to check them out. I also bought paper from the local office supply store so i could get some colored card stock. (what was I thinking!!)
My first purchase of an acrylic stamp sent me into my newest obsession and it hasn't stopped yet!

Oh my goodness - I have had stamps for about 35 years and used them with my own sons and at school with the kids and also at Sunday School and Bible School.
Stamping just for myself to make cards and for scrapbooking - I went to a Stamping Up party about 5 years ago, made some cards with the dealers stamps, bought a wildlife set with a bear, moose, tree and geese flying - and I was hooked!! Now I'm trying to find room for all my stamps!! And I am still bringing stamps to school so students can make cards :)

That's a LOT of hits - just means you are definitely doing something right! Keep up the GREAT work! My first stamp was a generic "happy birthday" stamp I got at my first "card making" class that a friend of mine MADE me go to with her. I figured it would probably be the only stamp I would ever need (or use) - well that was about 6 years ago, and now I have stamps for EVERY special event - even for days that have no holiday attached. I send cards to my family/friends "just because" - just because I sun is shining - just because the dog is barking - just because I'm having a good hair day - yep - those are the best!

Congratulations! Your site is always worth visiting. I think my first stamp was a set of stamps with images from many holidays and occasions (around 1990) which was followed by a Seasons Greetings stamp for the inside of some blank holiday cards. I stamped those little stamps all over all kinds of letters and envelopes but it didn't occur to me to make cards till my friend started sending me her handmade creations a few years later. I was introduced to scrapbooking in 1996 and thought there would be many chances for using rubberstamps though I still rarely use stamps on my pages. But I haven't purchased a greeting card since early 1996. Stamping and scrapbooking are the only 2 hobbies I've stuck with! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Not including my email address to give someone another chance to win!

Thanks for the inspiration. YOu're very talented.

My first stamps were a set of little quilt blocks - still have them and no idea where I bought them. I needed a distinctive logo for some stuff I was selling at a craft show and these were perfect. After I got into card making they have been used on many other projects. Now of course I have so many it's almost a sin (along with all the other "stuff" I've HAD to have!) Love it tho!

Ohh stamping, so addictive! I went to a stampin' up party that a mother of one of my sons friends was giving. My son and his buddy had been friends for years, but I only knew his parents in passing. Anyway, I went to the party and was so impressed with the cards we made and the knowledge of the hostess (my sons friend mom) that I placed an order. First stamp was 'Two-Step Stampin' Simple Sketches and I never looked back. My sons friend Mom and I now are great stampin buddies and we get together weekly for stampin fun! Not to mention the monthly sessions with other neighbours. Way too much fun!

My first stamp ( a magpie which I still have) and paper crafting was back when I was only about 5 (a long long time ago heehee) but the craze left because of other interests and school and came back when I had my youngest child (now 19) was about 2 1/2 yrs. and I wanted to entertain him and make things for him to play with- he was into Thomas the Tank - I couldn't get any of those stamps at the time so I just got a train- we had train gift wrap for everyone, birthday invites, train cards, train paper plates so we could have play afternoon tea- anything that could be stamped or coloured had this stamp - then we got into Disney and I have been going ever since expanding my collection as I can when I save for a special set I want - I have granchildren now and they are just showing an interest in my craft so I think I'll be busy for a while yet.

My very first stamp was an angel, and she was embossed in silver on a navy cardstock for Xmas greetings in the early 1990's....has it really been that long ago? And my stamping friends, so grateful for them!

I had taken family medical leave and gone to Albuquerque to take care of my mother, who was dying of pancreatic cancer. Needless to say, it was a very stressful time. My sister visited as often as possible, but with a young family of four she couldn't stay for the duration. On one of her visits, she took me to a rubber stamping show at the fairgrounds. I was AMAZED! I thought it was just cute cards! Boy was I wrong! There were two really great stamping stores in ABQ, and by the time I moved back home four months later, I had two full Iris storage carts full of supplies! I could sit in the dining room with the baby monitor and stamp whenever my mom was able to sleep. It really saved my sanity and I still love stamping!

My first stamps were by StampaMania - beautiful SW designs. Of course it was the embossing powders that hooked my on the craft - isn't that true for everybody? ;-)

My first paper crafting purchase was a scrapbook and several beautiful pages in 2003. The inspiration was my daughter’s baby pictures. The goal was to create beautiful memories. The problem was…. had no idea of how to do it. Between work, a baby, and home, didn’t put much time into it. Especially when I didn’t know what to do with those items I purchase. Last year I was laid off from my job and became a full time mom. That is when I decide to try again and was introduce to stamping, which I love now. Stamping has given us the opportunity to have more family time creating cards and crafts. My daughter is 6 now and she got Grandparents to do crafts every Saturday (she is their teacher). What do Grandparents don’t do for grandchild’s?
Thanks for the opportunity to participate and for all those great tips and tutorials.

Congrats on so many hits. What an awesome question! My school used to go on so many cool school trips. Once we went to the Art Galley or the Science Center or something like that and my mom used to give me a wee bit of money to spend in the gift shop before we left to go back to school. I found my name as a wood-mounted rubber stamp! Rebecca was hard to find back then bc it wasn't nearly as popular as it is now. I was constantly on the look out for personalized stuff and most often disappointed but here was my name! At 8-10 years old, I was thrilled; now I could stamp it anywhere I wanted! Stamp pads back then did not have finger grooves, just a straight sided wood block. I still have it though I think sadly I unmounted it; DUMB! My mom got me an Inkadinkadoo rainbow stamp pad and I remember when I was a bit older, a few years, I called the company to order-it was all mail and phone order in the late 80's- and they had the quirkiest old Inkadinkadoo song on when you were put on hold. I wonder if that song is where they got such an interesting name!! The stamps they sold back then were unmounted ('Rebecca' was by another company) and you were encouraged to mount them on thread spools, jar lids or other normally disposable plastic objects. One of my favourites as a balloon stock to a white plastic cap of some sort. Good memories. Thanks for sparking them!

Wow - I bought my first stamp in 1991 at a little stamp store in Anchorage Alasks - I spent over 3 years as a travel Nurse - 3 month assignments to lost of great fun places. Let's see . . . . I think it was some foam-mounted STAR TREK stamps of all things, that I bought through the mail, they were licensed, and official images of all the Next Generation crew, plus a planet or two, and the ship, and the on-shirt communicator/insignia image.

Then, since I liked those (what did I know about wood-mounted stamps, there was no such thing as unmounted systems then, and foam-mounted was the only way these came) I ordered a set of original series crew images as well, with the original ship. No communicator though, but loved having Spock! He was fun to stamp on outgoing mail and such.

The sad thing is, in all my various moves over the years, they got LOST. I have cried over those lost stamps, wishing I had them still!! I loved them; well, maybe not Deanna Troi and her pouffy early series 80's hair, lol!!! I can't remember if Tasha Yar was in the set; I think not - the series was popular enough that she had died (thank goodness, ugh!).

Lol! But the space stamps made for my first attempts at some scenic stamping, and since space is 4-d, it really made making a convincing scene easy. The few planets, the ships, and the odd other space/stars stamp or two were good for that. And I could mix series and eras all I wanted.

Time warps, space anomalies, you know! Hee!

My very first rubber stamp was a "stitched alphabet" set back in 1995. I ignored all things stampy for a looong time, but got back into it while caring for my mother before she passed away (leukemia).
