Another Spellbinders Impressabilities Tutorial

Today I wanted to share another way to use your Spellbinders Impressabilities. For this card I used the Impressabilities as a stencil.

This technique is very easy. You need an Impressabilities template, a piece of paper, an inkpad, and an ink applicator of any kind.

Place the Impressabilities anywhere on the paper. This card is 6x6, so the template would not reach all the surface with one placement. I moved the template all over the edge of the card, turning it at angles, just having fun. Make sure that you push gently, straight down. If you push too hard, or at an angle, the template will slip. You could try some removeable adhesive on the back of the template, I have found that to work quite nicely.
I am hoping that today my allergies stop beating me down. My meds aren't working and the congestion is miserable. Its hard to think when you are all stuffed with fluff. I hope that you are feeling wonderful today! thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Spellbinders Impressabilities Tutorial

If you haven't had the chance to play with the newest Spellbinders' product, Impressabilities, you should! They are a ton of fun and there are so many creative ways to use them. Today I am going to show you how to create a die cut shape that has the Impressabilities image on it. You can see the oval in the card above.
1. Start by die cutting your shape. Leave it in the die.
(see the strange pattern? always place the pattern you want showing down onto the die, in this case the brown is on the other side)
2. Place the Impressabilities down on your cutting mat.
3. Place the die with paper in it, rough side up, onto the Impressabilities.
4. Place the embossing mat over the layers, top with second cutting mat, and run through the machine.

5. Use a sanding block to bring out the impression left behind.
This oval was cut from patterned paper and sanding it revealed its white core. Imagine the possibilites with colored core paper!

Here is a look at the finished oval. Pretty easy, but stunning results!! I wanted to mention that the butterfly on the card was cut from the latest patterned paper from K&Co called, Madeline. hope you have a wonderful day! thanks for stopping by!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

"It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC13). This week Cindy Haffner is hosting. Cindy is challenging us to a sketch she has designed. As far as sketches go, there is not much explanation necessary. You can turn it and enlarge the sections to fit your card size. However, in the end, it should still look like the sketch. Good Luck!!!! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!!!"

Here is my take on Cindy's wonderful sketch. I wanted to use the present from All Wrapped Up stamp set with bright papers. There is some airbrushing on the circle behind the present and the sentiment label.
Check out what the rest of the ladies created:

Guess what? The winners have been chosen in the Paper Crafts Blog Hop contest and will be posted today on the Paper Crafts Connection blog at 5:00 AM EST. Good luck! :)

ScrapLovers April Reveal

This month's sponsor of the ScrapLovers design team was Cosmo Cricket. I worked with the wonderful Little Man line and it is perfect for little boys! I added in a few Unity Stamps, that worked wonderfully with the papers.
These are 4x6 wood frames from IKEA. I thought the darling retro baseball themed tags and chipboard stickers would be perfect to make wall hangings. I did adhere the chipboard pieces to the outside of the frame.
The stars in the background are from the Unity Stamp, Star of Worn. It is shabby and one of their wood mounted stamps. LOVE this image!

The red airplane piece is a pre-made tag. I rounded the corners and cut apart a rub on, to make it fit. The orange piece is also a tag. This set of sayings and papers are perfect in our house because my DH works for a airplane manufacturing company. I think I will be making a cute frame for his desk at work.

Just a simple birthday card. I loved the balloon on the chipboard button. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp's set called, Love is in the Air. (you know, the one I love, with the hot air balloon) The words have little stars on the ends, so I embellished them a bit more by adding star gems from Hero Arts.

Hope that you had a wonderful weekend! It was freezing cold and rainy here, but we got tons done around the house. The best thing that happened was, I got new pantry drawers in the kitchen! DH ordered them while I was in Phoenix. Now my pantry is no longer shelves, but useable space, with pull-out drawers! I must have found 12 salad dressings, all the same flavor as I was cleaning it out. We were always losing things, but no more! :)
Thanks for all the wonderful participation in the Paper Crafts blog hop! WOW! It was so much fun to read all your comments and to hear about who really appreciates your creations made with love! Good luck in the drawing!!
thanks for stopping by!
This will be my last reveal with ScrapLovers. At the end of the month, I will be leaving the team. Christina has been the best owner to work with and I cannot begin to thank her for everything!

Sweet Violets

Sweet Violets is such a gorgeous stamp set. This card started with the stamped image- I stamped it with Rich Cocoa brown Memento ink, to give it a softer look. Sticking with that look, I colored in the image with "sepia" toned colors. The overall effect was soft and very antique looking. The shape I stamped the image onto, came from the inside of the Classic Frame die from Spellbinders.
I knew I wanted this to look like a great-grandma's house, you know, something that has been laying around for a long time. Adding the crackle glaze created the perfect look I wanted to achieve. Then came the lace, buttons, and twine. (All the glaze I needed to cover the area, did curl the paper, so I pressed it flat with a book, once it dried, and used a generous amount of adhesive on the back.)
It is gorgeous here today. They are predicting 70 degrees. You might laugh, but that is fantastic for our neck of the woods! :) So, we are headed to the Zoo and for a picnic afterwards. Should be a great day! Hope you have a great day too! thanks for stopping by!

Monkey-ing around

I have to say that I think this Anna Griffin monkey paper is SO cute! AND its flocked too! I picked it up at Michael's a while ago and used it to create a little girl's birthday party invitation. (this was for a call, but it didn't get any love, oh well :))
The base of the card is a die cut piece of Bazzill cardstock that is in the shape of a rectangle. It scores nicely into a card that is about 6" square. The inside of the card was printed onto cardstock. I used the Castellar font.
Yes, I am back into the swing of creating things, whew! :) I will have new projects to share tomorrow, Friday (big happenings here and at Moxie Fab), and Saturday (Jen del Muro's SFYTT).
thanks so much for stopping by and leaving all your congrats!! ((HUGS))

Spellbinders Design Team Retreat

Once again, I cannot thank Stacey, Jeff, Kim, Cathy, Eli, Terre, and everyone at Spellbinders for such an amazing experience! We had so much fun, learned so much, ate too much, and were completely spoiled!! I borrowed a couple of these first photos from Lesa Rapp, because of course, I didn't have my camera with me when I needed it most. :)
Here is all the product we received from many generous paper crafting companies. Can you believe it? I fear to mention them all, in case I forget one! Talk about being blown away!!
We packed what we could in our suitcases and still shipped home large boxes-unbelieveable! I consider myself so fortunate!!

Here we all are in the conference room. When we got there, we all had baskets overflowing with chocolate, chips, crackers, and anything else you can think of to munch on. Just one of the million wonderful little touches that happened during the whole weekend.

GETTING THE WIZARD! Handing us The Wizard is Kim Hupke, the education director. I have wanted a Wizard for two years! Why did I wait?! What a remarkable machine!! The person sitting next to me is Heidi Blankenship, my table partner and fellow Minnesotan. What a sweetie whose talent and creativity is astounding!

The book. Our design team coordinator, Cathy Chlebana, made each of us these books to keep all the techniques we learned in one place. Its a gorgeous book and my new favorite tool! We filled that book to the brim with all the possibilities!
The cute little name tag was made for each of us by Christy Farneth-Kerr. We all made things for each other in a little swap.

Yes, that is Marianne Walker, from Copic Makers, and the blog I Like Markers. We are now all Copic certified!!!!!!!!! Copic was SO generous with the team! Marianne is unreal! What an artist to learn from! Here we are playing with re-inkers and Purell. (more on that later)

Now I have photos of the team, here is Christy-Farneth Kerr and Mary Farneth.

Debbie Seyer, Jennifer Davis, and a very excited Terre Fry

Karen Hunsacker (AKA chauffer :)) showing off reverse stenciled flowers, Janine Blackwelder

Karen Taylor (my roomie, AKA Betty Boop), Julie Overby, Lesa Rapp

Mary Pfaff, Kazan Clark, Holly Simoni
I will get you linked up to these ladies as soon as I can get myself back into the swing of things! You really and truly will want to see what they are up to! Spellbinders put together an amzing team!! There are more photos and stories at Spellbinders blog, so check those out too. And yes, I really am that giddy about the Crate paper in the photo...I am such a dork!
thanks for stopping by!!!

Check out Timeless Tuesday at Flourishes. Don't forget about the Paper Crafts 225 Cards and Gifts week going on at Moxie Fab and Paper Crafts Connections, and I promise cards and other tutorials will be coming soon!! :)

Home again!

Hello!! Just wanted to post a quick hello and that I am now back in MN. I will get photos posted when I get the chance.
To say that the trip to the Spellbinder's Design Team Retreat was amazing would be a gross understatement! I don't think I could ever express enough thanks to Stacy, Kim, Cathy, Eli, Terre, and all the staff at Spellbinder's for such an AMAZING experience. We learned SO much about the Wizard and its capabilities, along with the dies. We were taught, pampered, spoiled, and blown away. The team is wonderful and I am honored to have met each and every one of them! They are SO talented, each in their own fantastic way. I hope that you get the chance to follow each of their blogs, as they are completely inspiring!
This year is going to be amazing!! I cannot wait to share so many of the things we learned with you all!
Its going to be a busy week, so I better get some rest and start working! :) Tuesday is Flourishes Timeless Tuesday, and all this week is Paper Crafts 225 Cards and Gifts special issue week at Moxie Fab and Paper Crafts Connection. Let's just say that you will want to be there and here on Friday!! *wink, wink*
thanks for stopping by!

SFYTT

YAY Saturday and another Sketch For You To Try by Jen Del Muro!! Head to her blog to see her take on the sketch and another card that I made.

This card combines this week and last week's sketch. I was playing around with backgrounds for last week's sketch. This one didn't work with what I had, so I set it aside. Then, when I looked at this week's sketch, voila! Melon Berry and Ocean Tides are my new favorite color combo-they work with White, Vintage Cream, Black, and Kraft-wahoo!
Yep, those are more Prima's you see! :)
Check out the rest of the team's amazing creations!
I am still in Phoenix, this post has been scheduled. I will be home tomorrow, inspired and ready to start working for Spellbinders!
