Happy Birthday Winner & Walter!

I am sooo excited to share this news with you! Winnie & Walter is celebrating their 1st birthday! That is huge! And reason to celebrate!! All month long there have been challenges and tons of fun, but this week gets even better as they are sharing their new release! I love Winnie & Walter stamps! They are trendy and cool, but totally timeless and classy! I have shared this card before, but I love it so much, I can't help myself! I used Scenery: V for Chevron to create the background. The sentiment is heat embossed gold on vellum using

CHA 2015: trends and my favorites

I am back from not-so-sunny California and CHA. What a wonderful time! Who cares that it rained, as I had fun on the show floor and being with friends! The show was again a little smaller and a little slower, but the new products and innovative ideas were still there. Along with some inspiring projects that sent me home ready to create and get crafty. Let's start off with some of the great products I saw!

        

 

Star Runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L

My hands-down, absolute favorite new product of the show is from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L! Its a product that is so crazy clever, it makes you say, duh! Why didn't I think of that? From the mind of Donna Salazar comes this genius new decorative tape runner. Star Runner (refillable) dispenses small stars in a row. The same fabulous adhesive that makes up Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L's normal tape runners now comes in this fantastic shape! You can add glitter, flock, pigment powders, even heat emboss these little stars! How cool is that!?! 

                

 

Say Cheese II from Simple Stories

Being a huge fan of Disney (we leave in a week) this new line had me because of the mouse factor, but add in a touch of gold and whoop! I love it even more. More grown up, more sophisticated, and exactly what I want to use to record the memories of our next trip!

I Am from Simple Stories

Again, they got me with the gold, but what I really liked about this line is the way it is feminine without being overtly girly. The mint green, black, and gold make my heart pitter patter. The idea behind this line is to share yourself, an element so missing in our scrapbooks. Its just plain beautiful and inspiring.

       

 

Ombre Ink Pads from Hero Arts

Clever idea for a product we have seen in the past! By having three different color ink pads in one, we are able to achieve that lovely ombre look easily. Super trendy and classic! These ink pads come in 5 color groups. 

                

DIY Decor Tape from Hazel & Ruby

Washi tape that comes in 4," 8," 12," 24" widths! Perfect for larger crafting and home decor projects, like the darling dresser drawers on the right! So many beautiful patterns and colors! I think there is a ton of fun to be had with this product!

Party Playground from Jillibean Soup

Super cute party supplies and decorative items from the cuteness of Jillibean Soup. Tissue paper fringe, pompom trim, straws, clothespins, and more. These will make for some cute decor for birthdays and any reason to celebrate. And, its darling. I just need it all!

DIY Marquee Lights from Heidi Swapp

These are already available at your local Michael's stores, but check these out! Battery powered marquee lights. Its no secret how much I adore these style letters! The cool part about these is the ability to customize. From the inside to the outside, you can decorate these as you wish. You can also change out the bulb colors! Fun! So many words to spell...I might need a whole alphabet!

Texture Cards from Design Memory Craft

These plastic cards on a ring are edged to allow you to create patterns in your texture pastes! Simple and easy to use, and even easier to clean off! Be sure and check out their new Texture Luxe pastes too! Gorgeous and creamy silver, gold, and shimmer!

Photo Fuse from WR Memory Keepers

A fun heat tool that allows you to create your own pockets for pocket-page scrapbooking! Use the ruler and the tool on a page protector and seal in your paper or photos or whatever. The tool comes with a stand and a cutting attachment.

Carta Bella Soak Up the Sun

Not only is this line adorable, but RUN to the link above and check out all the fun new products Carta Bella is adding to the mix! Stencils, embossing folders, and washi tape! They are still keeping the fabulous stamps and dies too! I might be a wee bit biased here, but yay!

Lawn Fawn Beachside

Look at this color palette! Fresh and classy. The patterns in this line are small and delicate. Its perfect for card makers and scrapbookers! Pint Sized Patterns is what this line is being called and be sure to check out their new inks!

Jubilee rub ons from My Mind's Eye

I have been begging for these to make a come back for quite some time now! I am happy to report that other companies were showing them as well! But, these are gold. Gold gets me every time! 

Yippee from Chickaniddy Crafts

Another great line from Chickaniddy Crafts! Bright and colorful and of course it has the metallic paper in it! I love how Heidi Sonboul is finding her style in this new collection! Lucky us! Be sure and check out the 365 collection too!

                      

String Arts kits from Cosmo Cricket

With my love of all things wood pallets, these string art kits from Cosmo Cricket set my heart a fluttering! How cute is that heart?!?!

TRENDS:

• Gold. Its all about gold. Flat, shiny, brassy, just gold.
• Clear papers and vellum papers.
• Color mediums. Paints to inks to pastes. Add color!
• Planners. The latest rage. From the planners to scrapbook pages based on planners to stamps.
• Purple. Almost a pink purple. Made an appearance in several lines-Heidi Swapp and WRMK.
• Clean, classy, and elegant. No more vintage or shabby.
• Dies. Die cut all the things.
• DIY and decor. Make more than pages and cards.

Go-To-Gal Designer Challenge: Hazel and Ruby

What is a Go-to Gal Designer Challenge you may ask? Once a month the Paper Crafts &Scrapbooking Magazine Go-to Gals will challenge each other to create a project focusing on products from a particular manufacturer. We plan to feature one manufacturer the last Wednesday of each month. Just for fun! This month we are featuring Hazel & Ruby!

I love making home decor projects for our house! And I love when I can use my paper crafting supplies to create them. This relatively new company, Hazel & Ruby, has changed the look of paper crafting products and projects to facilitate that even more! Let me show you how creative their products are, but more important, how easy they are to use! 

(This shelf is in my son's bathroom. Its been a work in progress. I keep adding things as I find them. I am getting closer to being finished after adding these two projects!)

I started with a burlap-covered canvas I purchased at Michael's in Park City, UT during Ed Board. I knew it would be a good purchase and worth the weight in my suitcase! :) I trimmed Hazel & Ruby Pass the Tissue Candy Apple/White tissue paper to fit the 8x10 canvas.

This is tissue paper. Just like you would wrap a gift with. I love that its on a roll. It allows you to be so much more creative! I trimmed the edges away by tearing the tissue paper.

To adhere the paper to the canvas, I used Matte Medium. Use a gentle pressure when placing the tissue paper on the canvas. And the reason I say that is, not because the paper will tear, but because you can get too much of the texture of the burlap through the tissue.

Then I moved on to the COOLEST product, Stencil Masks! A Stencil Mask is a mask that is repositionable and re-useable! You can continue to use the images over and over again on any kind of project!

I loved the way the Child's Play sentiment of "you are my sunshine" was laid out on the backing. Wanting to keep it exactly in the shape and spacing, I used a piece of transfer paper from my Silhouette. 

The transfer paper picks up the letters and then allows me to place them on my project.

Using basic white paint, I painted over the top of the Stencil Mask.

Once the paint dried, I carefully lifted the masks.

I placed the Stencil Masks back onto the original backing. I did not remove the paint, but they do wipe clean easily. They keep their tackiness and are ready for my next project!

I added a twine-tied wood button to the center of the sunshine for a little extra touch.

I made one more canvas, because---rubber ducky! I painted the small 4x4 canvas with yellow paint. Then I applied my rubber duck Stencil Mask. Once the first layer dried, I went over the top with a lighter mix of yellow paint. I added a Maya Road wood button, with the heart accented with an enamel shape from WRMK.

Trend watching from CHA

CHA was an absolute blast! Hard to complain about sunshine, temps in the 70's and 80's and palm trees! It truly was wonderful to see friends and new products! (and eat out and not have to cook...) I thought I would share with you the trends I noticed at the show. And I will be back soon with all my favorites in another post. Well, these are all on that list too, but I have even more cool things to share!

1. Gold, gold, gold!

4. Brush script or handwriting

Love this trend. Its stemming from the chalkboard trend. Which moved us into using handwriting and drawn fonts. I love this. Big time.

By far the biggest trend I saw. Everywhere. Used with inks, sprays, modeling pastes, and a million more creative ideas.

Hazel and Ruby-repositionable stencils! Peel, use, remove, use again and again!

Jillibean Soup. Again repositionable, but they also have coordinating stamps!!

Mod Podge/Plaid Crafts

Other observations:

• Washi tape-metallics, shaped, sheets for die cutting
• Arrows
• Dies for everything
• Lots of basics-stripes updated with diagonals and thick stripes, and polka dots updated with hearts
• Pocket page scrapbooking-tons, loving the die templates from Technique Tuesday to make your own cards
• Home decor-chalkboards, pallet wood for altering, canvas items
• Woodgrain-real wood sheets, decoratively cut 12x12 wood sheets, wood 3x4 cards, woodgrain papers, stencils, stamps
