I am SO excited to be sharing some of the beautiful new Essentials by Ellen products being released for the holiday season! Its been tough waiting to share these cards for over two weeks!

First up is Fat Pants designed by the fabulous Julie Ebersole. Fat Pants stamp set also has a set of coordinating dies! Which, was fantastic news, as the inspiration for my card needed those dies! When I saw Fat Pants, I immediately thought of Christmas cards from the 40's and 50's. Check out how I made this card fill my vision.

Knowing that the Fat Pants Designer Dies cut slightly larger than the stamped image, I knew I could make a cool background by masking! I cut the ornament images from Masking Paper. Then I placed them on my card stock base. Candied Apple Distress Marker was colored on an acrylic block and I used a water brush to pick up the color and start creating a completely washed background. I love how the Candied Apple turns pink when watered down! Oh, and the masks won't work perfectly, but I love the vintage shabby look it created.

After removing the masks, I stamped the ornaments inside the white openings, going with a color palette straight from the 40's. The images obviously fit perfectly. I will be using this idea often!

Once the background dried, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment with black powder. I added stamped stars in the background with black ink. Marker lines were drawn from the ornament tops to the top of the card. And I finished things off with a few clear sequins.

For my second card, I used Designer Dies Bird Shapes, once again by Julie Ebersole. There are two bird shapes in this set of dies, and I chose to use the larger of the two. I love the look of a dove. When I saw the stamp set, Season to Sparkle, I knew they would be perfect together!

I die cut the bird twice, once from white card stock and once from gold paper. I layered them together, slightly off center. On the white bird, I stamped a small snowflake from Season to Sparkle.

On the card stock base, a larger snowflake, also from Season to Sparkle was stamped repeatedly, to tie in with the snowflake on the bird. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with gold powder. A beautiful Christmas card for sure. One that would be easy to mass produce!

Time to head to Julie Ebersole's blog, but don't forget the giveaway!!

Your Fat Pants card fulfills the retro theme I immediately wanted to try to achieve the moment I saw the set. Since I don't have your eye for design, I'll probably CASE your card, saving myself a lot of trial and error. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Great job on the cards, Kimberly! I especially like the dove card- how you did the bird with the layers, and the great sentiment you used, and the background- all of it goes together to make a beautiful card. Thanks for sharing with us and for participating in this great hop and giveaway.
