MFT Release Countdown Mason Jars and great tips

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Welcome back! Today's peeks are all about mason jars. Who doesn't love anything involving mason jars? I have wonderful memories of my mother canning with them. And I think they add a homey touch to decorating too! Imagine my joy at seeing Die-namics Mason Jar!

Mason jars painted with chalkboard paint have been catching my eye while browsing Pinterest. (I know, combining two things I really love!) So I started by cutting Die-namics Mason Jar from Black Licorice cardstock.

But I wanted to show you a little trick, and this works for any of your Die-namics, you can use two Die-namics at the same time! As long as the metal edges do not touch, go for it!

I placed the jar onto the cardstock and secured it in place with low-tack tape. Then, I added one of the hearts from Die-namics Mason Jar to the center. I also secured it into place.

Why the tape? Because when you pick up your plates to put them into your manual die cutting machine, you can cause them to slip and ruin the cut. This way, I know my heart will stay where I wanted it.

Then pass it through your manual die cutting machine. One pass two cuts. Happy little mason jar. Happy stamper. :)

I stamped the sentiment in Sweet Tooth ink, to add to the chalkboard look. The Mason Jar Labels sentiment I used was in two parts, perfect for putting around my die cut heart. To make sure that they stamp exactly where I want them, I first place my stamps, un-inked, directly onto my project. Then I position the stamps. When they are just right, I grab an acrylic block.

The block gets pushed directly down onto the stamps, picking them up and keeping them in place!

Mason jars make me think of quilts and the country-shabby look. And low and behold, to create the look, there they were, Die-namics Pinking Edge Rectangle STAX. (MFT is genius when they plan these releases!) Primitive White cardstock was die cut and the edges were inked with Natural ink.

To make a calico print, I dug through my stamp stash and found Easter Bunny with its clusters of flowers and centers, and leaves. I stamped the rectangle with the images using Bubble Gum, Nightshift Blue, and Sour Apple inks.

And no proper country-shabby card would be complete without wood grain, provided by Woodgrain Background and twine, from MFT's Hemp cord. :)

Continuing with the country theme...I die cut Die-namics Mason jar from Sno Cone cardstock...

...and added pretty flowers with Die-namics Fresh Cut Florals.

The background uses Die-namics Pinking Edge Rectangle STAX and a new background image, Mini Chicken Wire Background.

And to make the jar look a wee bit more authentic, I stamped the sentiment from Mason Jar Labels in watermark ink and heat embossed it with clear powder. It worked perfectly!

You really must head over to the MFT Blog and check out all the product peeks, videos, and links to the always amazing design team! Today has some gorgeous projects in store for you!

Oh, and hey, I should tell you that we changed up the normal Splitcoast Stampers chat the night of the release to happen all week! So now everyone can join in and chat when they have a minute! Stop on over and say hello and see what everyone is putting on their wishlists.

I am catching up Kimberly, so, I love this sketch :); I love the wood grain background and blackboard mason jar, although I've never seen one in real life, although I could certainly make one now that I've seen yours! Very clever, in fact, I could say genius! :) Mary
