MFT April Release Countdown: Super Hero

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Welcome to the April Release Countdown! Ok, I have to warn you now, this post is photo heavy. Its all the fault of the crazy awesome new set of stamps and dies from the Birdie Brown line called, You're Super.

I have an 8 year-old boy. Super heroes are huge in this house. Huge. The first idea I had when looking at You're Super was, I have to make small lunch bag notes! I love slipping small notes into his lunch, when I get the chance, because then he knows I am thinking of him. These lunch bag notes tell him just how great I think he is!

I started by making 3"x 3" card bases with Electric Red cardstock. Then I stamped the trendy cityscape image in Electric Red ink. The new Star Background image was going to make a fun backdrop too, but I didn't want to cover up the city skyline. So, I stamped the cityscape onto a post-it note, trimmed it out and made a mask. Putting the mask in place directly over the stamped image, I stamped Star Background over the top in Electric Red ink.

Look at that "pow" image! How fun is that? I stamped it over and over again because it is the perfect size and looks so great! And it perfectly fits on the coordinating image in the Die-namics You're Super set!

Once I finished the notes, it struck me that I could stamp on lunch bags! Custom super hero lunch bags! These took minutes to create and with all the fun images from You're Super, you could create a million different bags!

A look at the different ways I stamped the bags.

And they are bumpy and not a perfect surface to stamp upon, but no big deal. Its the fun idea that counts!

As quick as these were to make, I will not feel bad when the little man throws them away after lunch!

Which lead me to this project. See, I told you, I could create all day with these sets! We just happened to have cupcakes on hand and I thought, the cool "pow" shape plus a toothpick would equal fantastic cupcake picks!

Die-namics You're Super helps make easy cupcake picks. Any Die-namics image makes easy picks! I die cut from cardstock and then stamp my images. I add a craft glue to a toothpick, adhere it to the back of the die cut image, wait until it dries, and add it to the cupcake for instant fun!

Finally, because I saw the words "super" and "mom" a card needed to be made immediately. This card is for all you amazing moms. Moms are beyond amazing. And every mom deserves to be told often just how great she is!

The super hero girl has a coordinating die template in Die-namics You're Super. Love that. She is colored with Copics. (Uff da I need coloring practice. Don't look too close, ok?)

I created a background with the various images from You're Super, but the whole thing was too bright and intense. Well, when that happens, I tone it down with a piece of vellum. Yay! Easy fix!

I know just the person who is going to get this card! She is an amazing mom and an amazing friend!

The Copic markers I used, for those that want to know.
