12 Trendy Days of Christmas Day Four: Bling

Print

Day Four: Bling-think gems, glitter, and anything sparkly. Everything a girl loves! :) And these girls love bling too!!

Bling Bling Glitter

Happy Holidays Bling

For my card today, I wanted to make a bling piece be the focal point. And I like how its bright and shiny against a shabby background. It made me think of a broche, like the ones my great-grandmother wore.

Happy Holidays Bling CU

The bottom layer was die cut using the newest colors in foil from Spellbinders, Jewel Tones. The second layer is another die cut snowflake, but this one is covered in glitter. The top layer is a gorgeous star gem from Hero Arts that I have been hoarding. :)

Adhesive sheets to cardstock

To make the glitter snowflake, start with some adhesive sheets. Remove the yellow backing and apply the sticky side to your cardstock. Leave the white sheet in place.

Die cut and remove white backing

Die cut your snowflakes and then remove the white backing piece. One side of your snowflakes will now be sticky.

Sprinkle with glitter

Sprinkle with glitter, coat it. Pour on the glitter! :) Gently push the glitter down and remove the excess. Your snowflake is now ready to be used. Imagine ornaments, crowns, butterflies, and all your die cuts covered this way!

Project Two:

Star Ornament Glitter

My second bling project for today is this ornament. I picked these up at IKEA, but any FLAT, clear ornament will work.

Apply adhesive to star

Once again, use the adhesive sheets. Remove the yellow backing and press the sticky side onto the star. Smooth it over the entire surface. You can see the outline of the star, if you look closely. I wanted to be sure the glitter covered the whole star.

Trim adhesive from star

Trim the excess paper using scissors and a craft knife, if you need. Remove the white backing.

Adhesive on the back of star

You can see that the adhesive completely covered the surface of the star. Generously pour glitter over the surface and push it down gently. Remove the excess. (Tap it gently on the table.) To seal the glitter, I applied Glossy Accents over the glitter in a thin coat. It will take quite a bit of time to dry, so plan accordingly.

I would LOVE for you to play along! EVERYONE!! Have you been inspired? If so, please share your projects by leaving a comment on any of the posts!!! thanks for stopping by!
