your smile says it all

your smile says it all

For this card, I made a frame (yep, just a little bit obsessed with them lately :)). I used Spellbinders™ Labels 6, Petite Ovals, and for a twist, I used the Flourish Impressabilities.™

Here is how to add the embossing twist:

  1. Die cut the Label 6 shape and petite oval. (you can run these through at the same time because cardstock can handle it.)
  2. Take the magnetic plate with the dies and cardstock off your mat.
  3. Put the Impressabilities™ down on the mat.
  4. Place the dies (cutting edge up), with cardstock still in the die, over the Impressabilities™.
  5. Top with an embossing mat.
  6. Run through and wow! :)

To bring out the embossing on the frame, I rubbed grey ink over the raised portions. Why grey? Well, the patterned papers were grey-toned and it brought the colors together better.

This is a scheduled post, as I am enjoying CHA in, hopefully, sunny Anaheim, California! :) Can’t wait to show you all the new fabulousness! thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Patterned paper (Pink Paislee-Amber Road), Cardstock (Papertrey Ink-Rustic White), Butterfly and sentiment die cuts (My Mind’s Eye), Pearls (Hero Arts), Ink (Clearsnap-Colorbox Chalk Grey Whale), Spellbinders (Labels 6, Petite Ovals, Flourish Impressabilities™)

there is one more AND...leave a comment here telling me what kinds of video tutorials you would like to see and I will pick a winner when I get back and you will get your very own copy of Stamp It!!!

12 cards- that is amazing!

I really like how-to videos (that's helpful, isn't it). Anytime you might have a card that you did something a little tricky on, it would make for a great tutorial.

Hooray for you Kim! You are so super talented, I am not surprised that they wanted 12 of your projects! Super cute card! Hope you are enjoying CHA even though I am sure it rained the whole time! Oh and I guess I should tell you what kind of video tutorials I would like to see, I honestly love everything you have done but would love to see more about the impressabilities, different uses, etc. Hugs!

On this project did you also emboss the label and oval dies before running it through with the Impressabilities? How did you get the nice border around your frame?

I think we all just want more videos - no matter what they're about! Bring 'em on! :)

Yes! A copic marker tutorial! Because I can't yet afford the $200 copic workshop at my local scrapbook boutique. Great idea Lisa!

I'd love to see colouring videos. Not sure if you are an expert at pencil crayon, on it's own, no Gamsol, but I love the look. Since I feel pretty confident with my Copics, I'd like to challenge myself with another medium.

Wow!! 12 projects! Can't wait to get my inky fingers on my own copy!
As far as tutorials, any are helpful but I could definitely use sine help with embossing folders and nestabilities. Mostly going beyond the obvious use - some tricks or special techniques that can be done with them.
Congrats again, love reading your blog!!

oops, I meant to add copics to my comment too. We need a hands on here in the northland - hint hint!!

I think a video on doing various techniques with the spellbinders impressabilities would be great- just can't seem to get mine to come out properly so seeing it done would make it easier- i saw one a while ago but can't remember which blog it was on.

Congrats, Kim - I'm not surprised so many of your projects were chosen! I would love to see a tutorial on the process of idea/inspiration to finished project - I guess that's design. Anyway, something like that.

I would like to see a tutorial on how you decide to start your idea for a card...what makes you come up with an idea...fun to see how "one" starts out...I think you have mastered it as many times as you have been published...I am always at a lost to start!
