I Lava You: MFT Stamps August Release Countdown

There is nothing I like better than a good pun! What I like even more is when I have amazing images to go along with those punny sentiments! The tropical fun continues today with the MFT Stamps August Release Countdown!

If you have seen the movie Inside Out, then you know exactly where the sentiment on this card came from! If you haven't, then first off, go see it after you read my post, and secondly, there is a love story short film at the beginning about a volcano who wants someone to 'lava' him. Its sweet and corny and I thought it was very endearing.

So to create my card I started by stamping Wave Background on a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock trimmed to size. I used Sno Cone ink, but with a second generation of stamping. Meaning I stamped it on another piece of paper first and then my panel. It makes a subtle background, which is what I was looking to create. After that, I die cut the stamped panel with Die-namics Heart STAX to create an opening and start my scene.

On my card base, I traced the heart shape (the left-over from my die cutting) faintly with pencil, then I applied Sno Cone and Blu Raspberry inks for the sky and Limelight and Sour Apple inks for the grass. A die cut oval was used as a mask to create the hill.

Berrylicious card stock was cut with Die-namics Little Letters to spell out the sentiment.

All over the rest of the card are images from Tiki Party and Die-namics Tiki Party. When I get a set of stamps and coordinating dies, I always go through and die cut two sets of the images, then I have a ton of images to play around with. Coloring these with my Copic markers was lots of fun!

Staying tropical, Birds of Paradise and Die-namics Birds of Paradise were used to create this card.

I should mention that all my images that are die cut and colored with Copic Markers are on Blending Card  from X-Press It and stamped with Hybrid Black Licorice Ink.

Birds of Paradise has lots of cute sentiments! This one is perfect for when you forget a birthday, which I might have a tendency to do...

For the background, I placed Stencil Wonky Chevron onto a panel of Sweet Tooth card stock and inked through the stencil with Limelight ink.

The bird and branch are sitting on a circle cut with Die-namics Double Stitched Circle STAX. So many of the amazing designers on the team have been using Stencil Sun Ray to perfection this month and I was totally inspired to try it out! Banana Split ink was applied to the entire circle center. Then I placed the stencil over the top and applied Lemon Drop ink through Stencil Sun Ray
