MFT Release Countdown: nautical thanks

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Its time for another amazing release from My Favorite Things! This month has so many wonderful products in store for you! I cannot wait to share all my ideas! Forgive me as this post may be goofy. I have a terrible head cold, which I am hoping will pass very soon. No one has time for that! :)

My card today started with Die-namics Blueprints 15. Blueprints are awesome. They are a set of Die-namics that come with sketches (find them in the store). Use the dies and the sketches to make cute, trendy, and quick cards. What I love about them is, I can use the pieces and parts to create my own designs!

I began by die cutting the angled panel from Primitive White cardstock. Then I stamped the coral image from Sea Life in Tangy Orange ink. So trendy and fun. To the panel, I added rope trim, a button, and a stamped arrow-tab from Die-Namics Blueprints 15. It was stamped with Pinstripe Background using Natural Ink.

My pieces needed to stay nautical in theme, so I cut panel of Primitive White cardstock and stamped it with the new Background Linen. Using Grout Grey ink made the background blend in and look more realistic. This new background image will be used often! The Chocolate Brown thanks sentiment came from the new Sea Life stamp set. Lisa Johnson always creates great sets!

My second card today is kind of an experiment. One leading into what could potentially be awesome ideas to share later in the week! Stay tuned!

The coral image from Sea Life was stamped in Tangy Orange ink onto a Tangy Orange cardstock base. Then using a Primitive White cardstock panel, I stamped the seaweed, sand, and bubbles, along with the sentiment. The fishy (does anyone else hear Ernie yelling "here fishy, fishy, fishy? :)) was first die cut using Die-namics Sea Life, then stamped in Tangy Orange ink.

Wanting my fishy to appear to be underwater, I grabbed a piece of acetate and the new Hybrid Blu Raspberry ink pad. I sponged several layers of the ink onto the acetate, then heat set it with my embossing tool. Move the tool around often and keep in mind that the acetate with bend or warp a bit from the heat. I didn't mind because that just added to my water look. Set the acetate aside for a few minutes before adhering it to your project, just to allow the ink to settle completely.

Because the acetate is clear, adhering it to my project was a concern. I used a piece of Crafty Power Tape along the left hand side of the panel where my fishy scene was stamped. Then I adhered the acetate. To cover this up, I stamped a small strip of Primitive White cardstock with Pinstripe Background in Lemon Drop ink. I tied twine around the seam a few times too.

The inside is simple. A coral image stamped in Tangy Orange. I added a sentiment from Can't Wait To See you, as it fit perfectly with the wording on the front of my card.

There you have it. While I am off finding another box of tissues, why don't you head on over to the MFT Blog and get all the details. I hope you get to "meet" this month's guest designer today! And we have a new design team member too!

thanks for stopping by!

with the texture in the braided ribbon(?) and the muted colors it would be a great masculine card - and even the vellum softening and making it look like real 'water' adds a detail that's exquisite and elegant it could be used for her or him. Great card, wonderful detail, put together just beautifully. Can you tell I was very impressed! lol

Love these two cards and that panel you added on the front of the second card was just too clever! The fish really does appear to be under water.

Your use of the acetate is a home-run. I love how you mixed and matched the sea life with the B.P.15

Love the acetate, but the coral is my favorite of the new release anyway so even without the acetate... LOVE IT!

I love the coral stamped in tangy orange, Kimberly -- very striking! Adore your acetate card, too (I think we may be going in somewhat the same direction on that idea)!

Two totally unique cards and I love them both. You are totally thinking outside of the box with these stamps. The acetate paper idea is so cool - can't wait to try that.
