MFT March Release Countdown Day One: I'm a Happy Camper

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Welcome to the final day of the Release Countdown! My next blog post will signify that its finally time to shop! Today I made a layout using the fun new release products. There are lots of fun details, so be sure and read through to catch them all!

When I first saw the Roughing It stamps and Die-Namics, I knew exactly what I would be creating; a layout about my first ever overnight camping adventure!I am not a camper. I love camp fires, hiking, paddling kayaks, all the great outdoor activities, but sleeping in a tent, ummm, no. So, when my Cub Scout son had his first overnight camp-out, I had to step up and be brave. The photo of me is the next morning, showing that I had, indeed, spent the night in a tent. And you know what? It wasn't all that bad. :)

The scene at the bottom of the layout was created with Die-namics Roughing It and Tall Grassy Edge. It was fun piecing all these elements together. To create the moon, I die cut a circle from Die-namics Circle STAX Set 1. Then I placed the circle over the Die-namics cut edge and passed it through the machine again. The perfect Lemon Drop cardstock crescent moon. The piece the tent is resting upon is More Washi Patterns stamped onto Hot Fudge cardstock with Hot Fudge ink. I die cut the pattern with the wood sign image from Die-namics Blueprints 13.

The base of the title is Primitive Cream cardstock that has been stamped with Wood Plank background in Grout Grey ink. The letters are Die-namics High-Rise Alphabet Uppercase cut from Nightshift Blue cardstock. The pinked circle, its inside circle, and the pennant shape of the entire panel are all from Die-namics Blueprints 13.

More die cut trees. And if you look closely at places around the layout, you will see these super cute hiking boots from Roughing It stamped in Grout Grey ink.

The Tangy Orange cardstock panel was stamped with In The Wilderness Background in Tangy Orange ink. The Nightshift Blue panel was stamped with stars from Roughing It in Nightshift Blue Ink. And the Lemon Drop cardstock strip was stamped with Striped Background in, you guessed it, Lemon Drop ink. Using tone-on-tone stamping creates wonderful "patterned papers" for you to use on your layouts!

A happy camper. I made it. I spent the night in a tent! What a wonderful first experience to be able to share with my son!

thanks for stopping by!
