MFT March Creative Challenge; Treat Boxes

Welcome to the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge for the month of March! Each month we get a fun challenge and this month the challenge was Treat Boxes!

Ever since the first moment I saw the "You're A Life Saver" sentiment in the Go Overboard stamp set, I knew I needed to create a candy Life Saver treat holder! Perfect opportunity!

I started off using Die-namics Treat Tote to create my box. Once I die cut each side, I simply trimmed off the scallops with a paper trimmer. Once the box was assembled, I added Nightshift Blue panels to each side of the box.

The handle was created by adding a panel of Kraft cardstock. First, I die cut the handle with Rectangle STAX Set 1, using the smallest die. To keep the die from slipping, use a piece of low-tack tape to hold it in place while you pass it through your manual die cutting machine. Stars were stamped on the panel in Grout Grey ink. The panel was adhered inside the box, all the way to the bottom.

The porthole on the handle was die cut with Die-namics Let's Get Nautical. I used Steel Grey cardstock and Nightshift Blue. The Sno Cone blue cardstock waves were created with Die-namics Making Waves. The waves were layered on the drop-out circle from cutting the original porthole. Then I trimmed the excess awat with a scissors to match the edge. (I tried die cutting the circle again, but it was way too thick.)

The sentiment from Go Overboard was stamped in Electric Red ink onto a banner from Die-namics Banner Greetings. I did bend the stamp a bit on the block so it followed the shape of the banner.

The front has a life preserver from Die-namics Let's Get Nautical. The base was die cut with Primitive White cardstock and the red accents from Electric Red cardstock. Twine was adhered to the back. Two stars were added from Die-namics Blueprints 13.

And then I filled the box with Life Savers candies and possibly ate a few as well...

Be sure and head over to the MFT Blog and see what the design team has created. They always knock my socks off!

thanks for stopping by!

Fantastic treat box! This packaging would be great for upcoming summer parties, as well as, slightly modified for patriotic celebrations. TFS :)
