P.S. A personal update. During this past week, I had to begin I injecting myself with medication. My previous medications were not working they way they should and this was the next step. To say I was freaked out would be a huge understatement. Scary because of the thought of having to give myself a shot. Scary because I thought we would get a couple of years of relief from the first medications. Scary because there are some long-term side effects. It has made me unhappy, bitter, and very angry. Sparing you all the details of my downward spiral, today, things are much better. I have an amazing group of supportive family and friends who are constantly lifting me up in prayer. Their prayers have bolstered me and kept a small glimmer of hope alive. And thankfully, God is still here, dragging me along. The shot was not as bad as I built it up to be in my over-active imagination. And to see improvement with 24 hours has put a very large smile back on my face! By the next morning, the large lump on my left wrist was gone. By the weekend, I had feet, toes, and ankles again. There is still pain and fatigue. But it has reached a point of being tolerable. Once again, I can think about maybe living a normal life again, with some modifications. This brings a favorite Bible verse to mind, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Without Him, without faith, without hope, my life is bleak. Even worse than I could imagine. But if I trust in Him (and with that His plan and my doctors) I can do this.

From your personal comment, can I assume you have RA and that you are now injecting Enbrel or Humira? If so, I wanted to mention that I have RA and have been injecting Humira for years with no side effects (yet!!! and hopefully never). My pain and fatigue are nearly gone. With winter coming they will increase but my life is so much better now. Good for you! I hope you get the same type of relief I've experienced so that you can enjoy life. God bless you!
