The Autism Awareness Blog Hop

I am honored to be joining Veronica Zalis and so many other designers and companies in the paper crafting industry to bring awareness to Autism. Autism is a developmental disorder that interferes with a child's ability to communicate and interact with others. Impacting their relationships and how they view and navigate the world.

During my teaching years, I had the privilege of being an early childhood special education teacher. Along with my home bound students, I had a group of 5 boys, all on the Autism spectrum. Each one of those boys had a unique need. One would not speak. One would not stop talking. Another would not touch anything. The other would touch too much. It was exhausting and yet so rewarding. Like any child, they all had something that made them unique, that thing that made them click. With these boys, it took much longer to break their code, but once you broke through, magic. Its been over 15 years since I taught them and I can still remember each of their names. I hope that each of them is soaring towards their dreams. While I tried to help them begin to navigate their place in the world of school, their impact on me was so much greater.

I applaud the parents and teachers of children on the Autism spectrum. The battle can be long and hard-fought, but your work and love helps these children be all they can be in a world that communicates differently than they do.

This sentiment from Taylored Expressions is so beautiful. Each and every child is beautiful and unique and precious.

Taylored Expressions is releasing a collection of Autism Awareness stamps and dies today.
When you purchase the stamp set 25% of the proceeds will be donated to the Autism Society.

Autism and its spectrum of disorders needs money for research. To understand the causes, to help identify children earlier, and to provide much-needed resources for parents and teachers. I love that Taylor and Jon are being so generous with their support!

To follow along the entire hop, click here --- Autism Awareness Blog Hop

ETA: I had NO idea all the prizes that would be provided by so many wonderful paper crafting companies! You really must visit the home of the hop!! Good luck!!

Sincerely Yours,

Kimberly, your card is stunning. The subtle stamped background compliments the beautiful stamped sentiment. Your post was as beautiful as your card. It takes a special person to be able to work with children on the spectrum and the love and compassion required isn’t something you always see when it comes to special needs children in school. Each of your students was lucky to have you and I’m sure you were a positive impact on their lives, just as they were to yours. If we could all just love a little bit more imagine the world we could create. Thank you for your help in making the Stamping For Autism Awareness Blog Hop such a huge success. ๐Ÿ’™
