Big Changes

Well, life has some very big changes in store for us. Last fall things started to take a big downturn at my husband’s job and we felt that for our family and our future, it might be time to start looking elsewhere for employment. That meant needing to leave the area. We decided to start looking around and my husband planned to start applying for jobs. We left the rest to God and His plan for us. And God had plans! My husband applied for a job on a very late Sunday night and by the next morning had a call from a recruiter. We flew down for interviews and a visit one week later, and by the end of the following week, we had a signed job offer. Two and a half weeks. That was it. We were expecting the process to take several months. What a shock!

So, starting in in mid-February we will officially become Iowans. I don’t even know how to say that! :) Its going to be a good change, but a sad one. Our families live where we are now. And I have never lived farther than 45 minutes from my childhood home. But, Cedar Rapids is a beautiful area with wonderful housing and a focus on young families. We know how blessed we are to be presented with such an offer and oh, so grateful!

We could use your prayers for safe travels, for safe moves, for quick house sales, for making new friends, for finding a new church, for my husband to adjust quickly to his new job, for families that are sad that we are leaving, and for our sadness at leaving.

Be a little patient with me, for a little longer. I feel like I have been a giant, non-creative, stressed-out flake for so long. If I have not gotten back to you, not followed through on something, or have just been annoying, please forgive me!! I will post here as often as I can for the next month or so. I do have a few cards in my stash to share, as I love to share with you!

Thanks for letting me share the new journey that life is taking our family on!!

I hope everything goes smooth for you and your family in the coming weeks. Personally, I would NOT worry about creating on a schedule! For those who are really interested in following you, will continue to do so and will understand a temporary absense. It is more important to do the "needful" things right now. Look forward to seeing you when you are able to return...refreshed and full of creativity!!

Your friend,
Robbie

Kimberly, I follow your blog, and love your work...but don't get to comment too much. But I just finished a huge move with our 2 small kids! It was stressful, and I had to let go of my creating time...but I was able to meet all of my deadlines with planning! YOu will adjust, and find new friends and church, just takes a little time :0) Prayers for an easy transition for you all :0)

I hope everything goes smoothly with the move, Kim. Congrats on the job for your husband! Work is hard to come by these days. Just take all the time you need to concentrate on your family. They are what is important. We've been going through some very stressful job related stuff, too, so I totally understand. Big hugs!

Kimberly, Cedar Rapids is a great city! I've been there many times because my mom used to live there. You are also close to Iowa City, where the University is ... that, too, is a fun place. I grew up in Iowa ... it really has a lot to offer. When my husband and I retire in a few years, we plan to move back.

I understand how difficult moves are ... especially moves that take you far away from family. We've had to do this many times. The last time was 7 years ago when we moved from Boston to Chicago because of my husband's job. This move was especially difficult because we had to leave our daughter behind. She was in college then and didn't want to move. But we've all adjusted.

Good luck to you! I will continue to follow your blog! I love it and always get so many great ideas from you!

Good luck on your move to Cedar Rapids & your husbands new job. I was born in Cedar Rapids many, many moons ago. It hasn't changed too much, it's still a cute little family town.

Best wishes for your move and a quick and easy adjustment to your new life. I have always lived far from my folks, and Jim's folks were very old, so we have never had any help. You can do it. Jim and I have learned that we can rely on each other and it has made for a very strong marriage. There will be time for creativity. Take care of yourself and be safe. Love Ya! Daphne

Kim;
First of all big hugs to you and your hubby for making such a big decision so quickly! Second, after moving last year I know first hand the stress and pressure involved. Take your time and get settled...even if it takes a few months longer than you think. You are an amazing crafty queen and I know that your followers will wait with baited breath for your posts--but don't rush it! Lots of prayers coming your way sweetie. Lots of hugs too.

Kimberly,
Isn't God a awesome God! Now stick to the plan my dear. He has it all handled but the key wordage is in HIS TIME! It is difficult to take sometimes but true. I will pray for you of course. This is awesome. You get a fresh start some where new! How very exciting that is.
I can understand the sadness for the family and you but this will make the time spent together all that much sweeter.
No worries you have so much to do, and with a little guy as well. You just do what you need to do and we will wait patiently for your next unveiling. I do hope you will share wonderful pics of your journey with us?
Blessings and hugs,Pea

Good luck with your move, Kimberly, and the transition for you and your family. You will be in our prayers and God's hands. My family and I were in the same situation several times, and God helped us every step of the way...I'm sure he will be there for you, too.

Changes are good, sometimes scary. I can totally relate what you are going through. Similar thing happened to us. My husband was laid off, I graduated at the same time. We were started applying for jobs. But nothing was happening, especially not for me, since companies were looking for at least 5 years experience, which I didn't have. One day I got a call from a recruiter, they found my resume somewhere, the next day the company called me for an interview (over the phone), 30 min later I was offered the job. 2 weeks later we were down south, 1000 miles away from our previous home. God has great plans! Maybe not exactly what we were planning, but He does know what is best :)

WOW!! Big Big changes!! May God endlessly bless you in your journey. So many wonderful things open up to you with a change like this. Some things will be tough, but all in all I think if we approach them with an open mind and lots of faith God will take care of us. Good Luck! Can't wait to hear about it all!

Kimberly, blessings on your move and changes ahead! It is so encouraging to see the Lord answer prayer in such an affirming way - we saw a similar situation (minus the move) this fall and it was a reminder to me that my husband's hard work for our family blesses us and honours God. Take one day at a time as you pack and settle into a new place. Thanks for sharing your news with your little community of blog followers! :)

Just keep in mind: "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!" He will open doors that you didn't even know were there. What a great adventure you are about to embark on with your family and the good Lord will walk every step with you.
Get ready for an exciting time and we will all be here waiting when you get settled and back to creating.

Good Luck with your move Kim . . . makes me wish that Joe would have gotten the job in Iowa back in Aug. '08 . . . we'd be a whole heck of alot closer! I know how sad it must be to have to move away from your loved ones, I cried about it (obviously for no reason now) while we were anticipating what was going to happen with us. Everything will fall into place, sending good selling vibes your way for your house. I hope your enjoying Cali although it's probably not sunny! :)

You are in a place I once was. It's so scary but trust me, it'll work out! I moved away from family for 10 years and then had the opportunity to move back. It was a terrific experience and I don't regret one bit.

I hope it all goes well for you. It's so exciting to discover a new place. I wish you the best.

Oh my gosh! I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa!! I really like it here and I hope you will too. If you ever want a stamping buddy I'd love to have you over. Or even if you just want someone to have coffee/tea with or to watch your kids. I'll email you with my email address in case you feel like talking with someone local.

Good luck with the move Kim! I know it's stressful - I was FREAKED OUT when I first moved to Maui (3500+ miles away from my family and the only state I had ever lived in - Oklahoma) 7 years ago, but it was such a wonderful growing experience for myself as an individual and for my relationship with my husband (who was then my fiance and moved with me! LOL). Of course, fortunately for me, my parents followed me here a few years later, but I learned that I COULD survive on my own and I was so much stronger than I ever thought. I think I needed that little experiment in independence!! I'm sure you too will find your family growing stronger through this experience and through the ups and downs. And congrats on the job for hubby!! Try to look at this as one big adventure! :-)
