reach for the highest star

We are off for a graduation party this weekend, so I needed a card (more procrastinating, amazing how much you can get done, when it doesn't "need" to be done! :) ). The cork letters stand out much better in real life, they are edged and polka dotted, very cute. The two cork circles toward the top left are actually the insides of the letters o and g.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps-Papertrey Ink (Star Prints, Around and About Sentiments)
Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Kraft, Smokey Blue, Stamper's Select White)
Patterned paper-Making Memories (Just Chilin Boy)
Cork letters-Making Memories (Chloe's Closet)

true strength is delicate

Some new and old Papertrey Ink stamps. Just playing around. Mostly avoiding the deadlines that are looming in front of me! :) The edges were all inked with Colorbox Chalk ink in Creamy Brown. It is my favorite distressing ink. In a few days, I will show you my new (but yet its old) favorite tool that I use to edge everything. The kraft cardstock was scored with the Scor Pal and the die cuts are Blossom from Spellbinders.

DH is home this week, working on building our new deck. Its fantastic, but a lot of work! So, life has been a little busy around here!!
We are heading to a graduation party this weekend and will be staying in a waterpark hotel. DS is super excited! You should have seen how big his eyes got when we told him where we were staying. :) Now that he is officially potty trained, we are looking forward to a bit more traveling freedom. Hopefully I will have a bunch of photos to share next week, with as busy as we are!
thanks so very much for stopping by!! :)

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge: Sponging

"It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC17)! This week we are introducing our first Flourishes Guest Challenge Host Connie McCotter(cmc2stamp)! Thanks so much Connie for hosting this week!! Connie is challenging us to sponging. Sponge coloring, sponge distressing, sponge shading, and sponge stenciling to name a few are some of the hottest techniques in stamping. So, grab you ink pad and sponges and add a little sponging to your card. We would love to see what you create!"
Here is the rest of the team's creations:

Flourishes Newsletter

My sponging on this card is subtle, but it really adds some depth to the card. I started by sponging ink on the inside of my houndstooth Cuttlebug folder and then ran the kraft cardstock through. Then I used a darker brown to sponge the edges and corners and random places on the embossing.
The image is another fantastic couple of images from diy Topiary. SO much fun! And I am getting so much Copic practice! :) The background was airbrushed (and yes, the cat is still grey and black :)).
Can't wait to see what your take on the challenge is!! thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps-Flourishes (diy Topiary, A Man's View)
Ink-Memento (Tuxedo Black)
Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Kraft, Ripe Avocado, Stamper's Select White)
Twine-May Arts
Button-Papertrey Ink
Tools-Spellbinders Die Templates (Long Rectangles Small), Cuttlebug (Tiny Tags, Houndstooth Embossing Folder)
Copics-YG91, YG95, YG99, E55, E57, E59, W3, B00, O, ABS-1

BTW-With all the airbrushing I have been doing, of course my air can ran out. So, DH went to the hardware store and bought a few adaptors, so I could hook my system to the air compressor. For details on how you can do this read the Copic Website.
And I forgot to link the Flower Creations die yesterday...you can find it HERE.

wings to the heart

Happy Memorial Day! Please take the time and thank a veteran for their service to this country!

I love this color combo! And it was fun trying all the different petals together from the Spellbinders die, Flower Creations. I ran a full template of each of the papers I was working with. It gave me a big pile to choose from with lots of left-overs for more cards.
I don't know how much I will be blogging after tomorrow, this week. We have lots of Spellbinders projects right now, so I will be creating like mad! :)
thanks for stopping by!

Stamper's Dream Dreamy Challenge 7

May's challenge is a three part challenge! A color challenge, a challenge to use texture, and a challenge to use bling. SO fun! Tosha picked the best colors to work with:
Blush Red Dark, Island Mist Medium, Birchtone Light Accent with either Suede Brown Dark or Ivory. I think they are gorgeous together and I will definately be using that combination again!

Well, the color part is fairly obvious... For texture I did two things. The first one was embossing my Island Mist medium cardstock with an Impressabilities. I also added a Birchtone Light Accent cardstock frame. I inked the embossing details to make them stand out a bit more. The bling is sparce, but I added some Zva crystals to the centers of the chipboard flowers and to the letter i's in the sentiment.

Here is a close up look at the chipboard. The Maya road bird chipboard set is gorgeous. I love that it comes with different branches, birds, and wings! I wanted a springy looking branch, so I added some flowers. The bird wing and flowers were stamps with part of a flower image from Penny Black. The chipboard is covered in patterned paper (edges sanded) and the branch was painted, cause let's face it, no one needs that stress! :)
We cannot wait to see your take on the challenge! Remember there are 3 parts-color, texture, and bling. Use colors as close to the originals as possible. Label your card SDDC7 in SCS. Then, for a chance to win a prize, link your project back to the Stamper's Dream blog.
Check out the rest of the team's creations:

I have a giant smile on my face today!! I created a pop-up gift card holder for Paper Crafts magazine. I am incredibly proud of it because I worked so hard to make the template work and match my idea. Today, Paper Crafts is featuring on their blog, Paper Crafts Connection!!!! :)

Mouse Love

I have always been in love with the darling little mice from Penny Black. Don't they just make you smile? Lots of Copic coloring here and airbrushing. (If my cat stays still, he might get airbrushed next! :))
The flourishes in the corners are Spellbinders dies. The papers are from My Mind's Eye. And my favorite little detail about the card is, I tied on the love note. The image has a bow tied on it, so I thought I would add on myself. The word love was masked from a saying from Our Craft Lounge that said, somebunny loves you. See how creative stamps let you be? I knew I would be able to find the perfect word in the perfect size! :)
Tomorrow the whole Stamper's Dream Team has a new Dreamy Challenge-check it out and the prize! thanks for stopping by!

"It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC16)!!! This week Silke Ledlow is hosting the challenge!!! It is all about shapes this week. I am in love with the new diy Topiaries stamp set from Flourishes!! So many great combinations of trees and containers. Lots of coloring fun and I am looking forward to using some Flower Soft with the trees too!

I worked really hard on coloring in the pot. I wanted it to look like terra cotta and keep the look of the round pot, you know, keep the dimension, not look flat. With a lot of color blending and a small amount of colorless blender, I am very happy with the look. Even more happy with the look of the round decorative balls, with some colorless blender, they also look dimensional. The shadowing is ok, but I like the color (BV23).
Hope you are enjoying a wonderful day! thanks for stopping by!

SORRY! This card has been removed for publication in Paper Crafts Stamp It! It will be available in January 2010.

Just playing with colors and things that inspire me. I am completely in love with this color combination and the motif of the quartrefoil in the background stamp. Sigh. I have issues. :)
Hope the yellow brought a little sunshine into your Monday. thanks for stopping by! :)

Flourishes new release: A Man's View

Did you know that Stamper's Dream carries Flourishes stamps? Isn't that cool and it works out well for me! :) Here is one of the new release images from, A Man's World. Its all about dads, so a newspaper, remote, and a comfy chair are all included. They will be available tonight after 8 pm.
Not totally loving this card. I like the papers, the design, the chair coloring, but then, I airbrushed. And not well. It looks goofy. I think the chair looks like it is floating worse now that when it was on white paper. Oh well, live and learn, and keep practicing! :)

Someday my prince will come...

This frog makes me smile and when I saw the crown image with him in the Hero Arts stamp set, this first thing that came to mind was, you gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince! :) Seeing as that is way too long, of course a song popped into my head, leading to the sentiment on the card. It was created with the Curlz font from JustRite. The font is girly and whimsical and was perfect for this card. Simple and silly, just like me! :)

Its a layout, shocking, I know! :)

A layout. It really is amazing, as in amazing I actually did a layout! :) I just adore this photo of DS and his first ice skating attempt. DS is a huge hockey fan (comes by it natually, from both mom and dad). He wants to play hockey for the UMD Bulldogs, but the funny part is, not too long after this first attempt, he decided he wanted to be a goalie. I am pretty sure that he thinks the goalie doesn't have to skate as much!!!! LOL!!! You can see how dejected he is on the ice, and I thought this quote was perfect. Like my way of telling him, that if he keeps trying and practicing, he will get it!
I did stamp directly on the photo. By using Palette ink and a steady hand, it worked beautifully.

A very simple card for today. It started out with a love for the Basic Grey Sultry paper, the new Spellbinders Blossom die sitting on my table, and the deep need to airbrush something! :) LOL!
The circle was die cut and embossed. I left the die on the circle, stamped the magnolia flowers and airbrushed. The flower was colored with Copics, the darkest parts being colored directly. The lighter parts of the petals were colored with a blender pen that I was using to pick the color off of a marker. A little bit of green was added to the stems, to coordinate with the background paper.
Can you keep my mom in your prayers today? She has yet another doctors appointment for her arm today. I am praying that he will be able to give her the help she so desperately needs. After two years, this battle is getting old and she is exhausted. Thanks for the prayers and thanks for stopping by!

Glad we're friends

Good morning! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and Mother's Day! We had a very nice weekend, we just wish the weather would be warmer. :)
Here is another card from my guest designer month with Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT). The flower was colored in with Copics, but it might be too much contrast between colors. I have been trying to push myself to use more contrast, but the blending needed some work. Good thing that I learned so much more about the markers at the certification class. If I re-made this card, it would be much better! :)
Well we are off to gymnastics and a lunch date with a friend. I hope that your day is wonderful! thanks for stopping by!

JustRite week at Stamper's Dream

Just a simple and beautiful gift to be able to give a teacher to say thanks. I created a handmade box that holds a frosted and sugar dusted brownie. I love the darling little teacher saying and thanks from JustRite's new set, What's Cookin.
The cover of the box was made with acetate and then I placed the die cut heart piece of patterned paper over the top.
I created a tutorial about how to get the brownie decorated like that with a Spellbinders Impressabilities. You can find it here: BROWNIE TUTORIAL. or just scroll down to the next post.
Make sure and check out what the rest of the team has created:
have a wonderful weekend! thanks for stopping by!
Supplies:
Stamps-JustRite (What's Cookin)
Patterned paper-My Mind's Eye (Freebird)
Ink-Colorbox Chalk Ink (Chestnut Roan, Creamy Brown)
Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream), Crystal Clear cardstock
Spellbinders Die Templates (Classic Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Heart)
Ribbon-Offray
Pearl Hearts-Hero Arts

Baking with Impressabilities

I love the photo of this brownie! :)
To create the dusted sugar brownie, I used a Spellbinders Impressabilities, dusting sugar from Wilton, and a frosted brownie. The brownie was cut into the heart shape using a large cookie cutter.

Try and place the frosting on the brownie as evenly as possible, so one side of the brownie isn't higher than the other. By doing this, you create a much more even surface to place the Impressablities upon. Also, make sure that you are using a BRAND NEW Impressabilities because you are handling food that will be consumed. Do not push the Impressabilities into the frosting, or the frosting will come up when it is removed.

I placed the sugar into a small collander and gently tapped it to lay the sugar on the Impressabilities.
I coated the brownie very evenly with sugar and then very carefully removed the Impressabilities.

Here is the finished brownie in a hand made box. Have fun creating!
thanks for stopping by!

True Friend

Here is a card that I made for my guest design stint with Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT). I told you that you would be sick of the Chatterbox Fabulous papers...hang on, there is a lot more because I got the rest of the collection at the Spellbinders design team retreat. That makes me smile, I am kind of sorry for you though! :)
The Crystal Clear cardstock I placed in the four corners, was run through my Cuttlebug machine. Isn't the look wonderful? The cardstock is from Flourishes. It is thick enough to be a card base-awesome stuff! I know I have seen several people using it, so if you were one of them, let me know so I can give credit to those that inspired the idea! :) (Amy Sheffer, maybe)

Right now, I really have nothing to post. Well, that's not true, there are tons of projects, but I cannot share them with you. That's hard because I cannot wait to share them!!
Have a wonderful day! thanks for stopping by and for your emails, I love hearing from you!!

Cardstock-Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate)

Friends of Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

"It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC14)! This week Betty Wright is hosting. She is challenging us to use beads. There are all kinds of shapes and sizes as well as materials that beads come in. You can choose from the tiniest microbeads to the largest you can find to add to your card. Halfback beads count, too!!! There are glass beads, plastic beads, wooden beads, clay beads, and paper beads to name a few. Enjoy! Can't wait to see what you create!"

Oddly enough, I was cleaning out my crafting room when I stumbled upon all my beads from my jewelry making days. (whew, challenge problem solved! :)) When I saw these beads, I knew I had to use the Strut Your Stuff stamp set! And since my paisley dies were sitting on my desk, I happened to notice that the peacock would fit quite nicely with the largest die!
I wanted to place the beads onto the circle part of the peacock feather. I dropped small, round balls of glue on the tail feathers. Then I poured the beads all over and pressed down. After a few mintues, I shook off the excess beads. The peacock is colored with Copics and the background was airbrushed with BV000. (a pale blue/violet)

Beads were also placed inside each of the scallops. Crazy, but hey, it looks cool. Tweezers helped me out a ton! :) Sticking with the Paisley theme, the card base was embossed with the Paisley Impressabilities from Spellbinders.
For all the challenge details, check out the blog: Flourishes Newsletter. thanks for stopping by!

Rubber ducky you're the one: JustRite week

Its JustRite week at Stamper's Dream! Here is a little birth announcement/gift that I created. To make the tag, I used the Celebrations Demi Phrases, Tiny Words and Centers, and finished the bottom with our little man's name in Times New Roman 15 pt font. The box and gifts have been wrapped with plastic wrap and tied with a ribbon.
This is a look at what is on the inside of the box, the darling duck (my singing inspiration), and a photo magnet that uses the Baby Ensemble stamps. That duck is NOT rubber. It is CHOCOLATE! Seriously, you can EAT IT!! (the little man took care of that tonight) Isn't it fantastic? How fun would they be at a baby shower? I found them at Target during Easter. They are made by Palmer.
Some of you have asked how I make boxes myself. Well, the photo above is my little drawing and how I work things out. I start by measuring the object. Then I figure out how tall I want the sides. I am a pretty visual person, so drawing it out and writing out the math really helps me make a better box. Hope it helps a little bit. :)

Then I cut and score the cardstock to the sizes needed. My Scor Pal has made this process much easier! You can see where you need to cut the sides. I adhere my tabs on the inside, to keep the box appearance cleaner.

I created a little holder for the duck, the same way as the box, but before assembling, cut a Nestabilities oval out.

Here is the duck resting in his box and holder. The wave border was added to the top to finish it off.

Make sure and check out what Michelle and Laurie have created for today!!
Here is a link to the Rubber Ducky song, because I know you want to hear it from the expert and the only one who can truly do the song justice, Ernie. :) Rubber Ducky

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! thanks for stopping by!
