Christmas Frame Decor

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a fun Christmas home decor project. It is part of a collaboration between Echo Park Paper and Details 2 Enjoy. You already know how fantastic the papers and dies from Echo Park are, but it is fun to pair them with these incredibly clever Pocket Frames from Details 2 Enjoy.

Pocket Frames come in different sizes, but what is cool about them is the fact that you can change the insides around. Details 2 Enjoy carries different shaped openings, allowing you to change the frame for the seasons! The top of the frame is magnetic, making the switch easy!

From the moment I saw the buffalo plaid print in the Christmas Delivery collection, my project came to life. Hello, buffalo plaid! Let me count the ways I love thee! :D On the hexagon piece of MDF, I adhered the paper, cutting it away from the edges. Once the edges were trimmed, I sanded off the edges to add some distress and age. The back panel of the Pocket Frame was covered with black cardstock. I spread white ink all over it, for more distressing and to create a more realistic chalkboard look.

Then I began die cutting-tons of leaves, vines, and branches. Because it was a Christmas project, some of the branches needed to be snow covered. At first I thought about adding white embossing powder and heat it up, but then I got smart and realized that if I sanded off the top layer of color from the patterned paper, it would look even better! Keep that trick handy in your back pocket!

To the brown branches, I added metallic enamel dots. The gold and silver brought shine and coordinated nicely with the glitter pine cone I placed in the center of the branches.

I finished things off with a large journaling card and a few stickers. Now this piece sits in our home and I love that I added something that I made!

Echo Park and Imagine Crafts Blog Hop

Its fun blog hop today with Echo Park Paper and Imagine Crafts! With the stamps, dies, and stencils available from Echo Park, the inks, markers, and sprays from Imagine Crafts are a perfect combination!

I started with creating my base layer on a piece of white card stock. I placed Echo Park Designer 6x6 Stencil Snow Flurries over my card stock. The edges were secured with washi tape (and yes I used the cute stuff!), so the stencil would not move while ink was being applied. Using a foam applicator, I applied Imagine Crafts Memento Summer Sky ink through the stencil. You can see how soft and pretty the color is and how it adds a winter feel to the card. (which is ironic, given its name, hee hee)

For my snow banks, I die cut white card stock with Echo Park Designer Dies Nature Edges, twice. Making one snow bank taller than the other. Each of those pieces were spritzed with Imagine Crafts Fireworks Sky Blue mist. How cool is it that they have coordinating products like that?! The mist comes out evenly, but be sure and protect your surface. It also has shimmer to it-so pretty!

Next step was to create this adorable snowman. Echo Park Designer Dies Snowman #2 comes with all the pieces you need to piece together this snowman. I took it a step farther and added details with Imagine Crafts Memento Markers.

For his smile, I accented each tiny hole with black marker. It really made his smile stand out more.

For his carrot nose, I added a shadow to the orange card stock with an orange marker. Stepping up your dies with markers is a great way to add more interest!

And to finish off the scene, I added these stamped pine trees, with a little twist.

Echo Park Designer Stamps Winter Wonderland has this great tree image. Imagine Crafts Memento ink was applied to the stamp, then using a Memento marker, in the next darkest color, I added shading. Yes, I colored directly on the stamp and directly over the ink. How cool is that?! Once the color was added, I blew hot air on the stamp and then pressed it into card stock. The added texture is fantastic!

What would a blog hop be without a prize?! Check out this amazing prize package. To be entered to win, simply leave a comment on this blog, and the rest of the blogs for a chance to win! cards for summer layout inspiration

Ahhh, the waning days of summer. The evenings are cooling off quicker. The days are getting shorter. I am not ready to let go of summer just yet, so I thought I would share a few summer cards with you. These cards feature some fantastic dies from Echo Park Paper and Carta Bella. And while you might not be sending too many more summer cards, I imagine you have quite a few summer photos waiting to be used on layouts, so use these ideas to inspire your scrapbook pages! Look at it as a way to hang on to summer a bit longer!

When I saw Designer Dies Summer Sandcastle, I KNEW I wanted to cut it from fine gauge sand paper. Yes, you can cut sand paper with your dies! I have to admit that it turned out way cooler than I even imagined!

Behind the sand castle, I stamped the palm trees in a pale blue ink. When stamped on the patterned paper, it created an amazing background for the castle!

My obsession and love for anything pineapple was increased immensely when I saw this new die from Carta Bella! The die set has three layers, the top, the body, and the very cool overlay that adds all the dimension you see here! I paired the image up with a sweet mini theme kit, Island Paradise. Anyone else want a tropical drink next to the pool now?

And finally, what may be my favorite paper line ever, and hands down the best summer line ever, Carta Bella Beach Day! The bright colors and retro beach vibe make it one of those lines I will buy two of everything, to hoard and then to use again and again! :D

After layering together my favorite papers, I wanted to use the Hibiscus Flower die set. I cut it the layers from card stock and assembled the flower. Super easy and look at the fun layers! Then I wanted to take it one step beach-ier (I am making up a new word, ha!) and placed the flower on a chipboard surfboard. Totally tubular. :D

The coolest part about all of these cards is, the ideas and elements can be easily used to create layouts or even photo pocket pages! Take these fun ideas and use them on your next summery project! Here's to the end of summer!
