Spooky Spiders and the Itsy Bitsy Spider

This post is long. Very long. If you read all the way through, you deserve a prize. SO, if you read to the end, you will have a chance to win a RAK from me! :)

Spooky Spiders
I don't think there is anything terribly original about this project but the recipe. My mom has always made these candies and they look like spiders. Thought it would be cute to put them in a little pail. (not to mention this works for my Halloween class at the store!)
I punched black cardstock with my Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Punch. I adhered it to the inside of the bucket. I also put some GlueLines on the inside of the rim and hung some spider webbing. (because of the webbing, I wrapped the treats in clear cellophane) The spider webs were stamped onto acetate (StazOn) and placed inside as well.
To make the cover, I used my largest Nestabilities circle and made a notecard. I do this by not putting the die all the way over the score line of the card.
For the recipe, I used to Word to draw a circle and type inside it. A 3.5" circle worked perfectly.
Spooky Spider Recipe:
12 oz. Butterscotch Chips
6 oz. Chocolate Chips
3 Tbsp. Peanut Butter
3 C. Shoestring Potatoes
1 C. chopped Walnuts
Melt the chips and then add the peanut butter. Fold in the rest of the ingredients.
Drop onto wax paper and chill until set.
The perfect sweet and salty treat!
Itsy Bitsy Spider
ITS HERE!!! The new collection from Piggy Tales, that I named, is here!! Piggy Tales held a contest late last year. All their collections are based on nursery rhymes and children's stories, so they wanted people to come up with names for a paper line. I picked Itsy Bitsy Spider, because my little man loves that song. A few months later, I found out I WON!
Here is the artist rendering of my names!! Isn't it cool?!
Rain (its black, bad photo, sorry)
Spider (bright lime green, man get some better lighting, Kimberly!)
Spout
Sun
Up and Down
Washed (also black, yikes)
Here is the RAK! In honor of the new paper line and the fact that you actually read this far-here is the prize. A Hide and Seek flap book from Piggy Tales! This white, board book has little doors that can be opened-so cute! It comes with a template to help you size and line up your photos and paper. (I am working on one now. It will be a little bit longer 'till its finished.) Leave a comment on THIS post telling me your favorite children's story or song, yours or your children's. I will pick a winner on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 pm CST.
thanks for stopping by!! :)

The first post is never picked, but who knows, right??

I really like the 3 little pigs story. My grandmother was used to tell me that story when I slept over her house...

Thanks for the RAK!

That's so neat that they picked your name, Kim! Your pail and treats are so cute, too. My son's favorite was always Twinkle, twinkle little star and my daughter's favorite has always been rock-a-bye baby. Have a great day!

How cool! I had no idea you named this pp line. Fun, fun, fun. As for the first project, you just plain rock, gf. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.

Fav. story - Wheels on the Bus and Itsy Bitsy Spider is right up there right now as well. I'd like to have a dollar for each time I've sung these already this week. :)

That certainly is some gorgeous paper! The names really make the designs :-) Thanks for the recipe; I think I'll surprise DH with these. Now don't laugh at me for my favorite children's song...it's On Top of Spaghetti. The first verse is "On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese/I lost my poor meatball/when somebody sneezed/it rolled off of the table/and onto the floor/and then my poor meatball/rolled out of the door." It continues on throughout the song to roll into the garden, grow into a tree and bear lots of meatballs. Did I mention half of my family is Italian? LOL

That is SO cool you got to name this line!!! I don't have kids but all my friends (it seems) do..so I'm always searching for great kids books. My favorite is: There Is a Bird On Your Head! (Elephant and Piggie) by Mo Willems. It is hilarious - simple story and drawings, but it really makes me laugh and I know all the kiddies enjoy it too!!

My favorite story book was always the Dr. Seuss, "Come Over To My House, Come Over To Play" about going to different cultures' homes.

Right now, because we have a three month old, my daughter's favorite song to sing is a remake of the classic, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." It is called, "Stinky, Stinky, Diaper Change." She loves to sing it whenever I am changing a diaper. She is also loving the Froggy books.

My favorite book as a child was "Gobble Growl Grunt" by Peter Spier. The entire book consists of every type of animal you can think of and the sound that they make. It's great! Thanks for the contest!

I love Piggy Tales as well...they have some great lines of paper! My little boys favorite book has been "How do Dinosaurs say goodnight". Love your blog!

All your work is so pretty. Thanks for sharing. My older daughter loved "Old McDonald" because she loved making the "bawk" chicken noise when you got to the chicken part. It was really cute. My younger daughter used to love the "I love you, You love me" song that Barney would sing and she would instantly calm down everytime I would start to sing it to her. Sweet memories.

I currently have a 17 month old daughter (and will have a second daughter in 3 weeks). It's funny, but she loves for me to sing "Pennies from Heaven". Not totally a kids a song, but I'm singing it TO my kid. Does that count? :)

I should at least get points for being a singing dad. LOL

My dad used to sing me and my sibblings to sleep - we all had different favorites (mine was "There's a hole in the bottom of the Sea"). At each of our weddings he re-worked the song to tell our love story. Hilarious! Now that I have my own 17 month old son I sing a lot to him. His favorite is "Sammy" and I'll admit I love singing it to him!

We have this old book called Bunker Bear that was mine when I was little. Now we read it to the boys. It's definitely a favorite. I don't think it's in print anymore unfortunately.

Hope to see you again soon!!!

Congratulations on another fun project! My daughter's favorite story was Richard Scarry's "Good Night Little Bear" which we read at least a dozen times a night, omitting not one single word for she had it entirely memorized. My son's favorite was anything Sesame Street. My first post..I hope I'm successful!

Congrats Kim!! The lines looks so fun! What an exciting thing for you!! My favorite song - have several, but I always sing a couple songs to my children, I love you, a bushel & a peck . . . (my mom used to sing this to us) and Great Is Thy Faithfulness - I must have sung this thousands of times, it all started when my first was a baby and it totally soothed her every time!! It's kind of "our" song now - lol! :)
