sweet treats and more: MFT April Release Countdown Begins!

Welcome to the April release countdown for MFT Stamps! We have a lot of wonderful products in store for you over the next several days, so be sure and stop back!

We start the countdown off with some darling new stamps and Die-namics from none other than Lisa Johnson! Lisa always, always, always designs her products to give us stampers as much creative freedom as we want, but now, her Die-namics are also doing that!
Whoop! She's a girl after my own heart!

My card started with the ice cream cone. Now there are two sets of Die-namics that you can purchase this month, both coordinating, both very necessary! Wink, wink. The first set is Die-namics Sweet Treats. Die-namics Sweet Treats includes images with more detail, like the ice cream cone on my card. To enhance the detail of the die, I applied Hot Fudge Pigment Ink to the raised surfaces of the die, before die cutting it. Using the pigment inks brings out the extra details even more! Be sure and click the photo for an even closer look!

The basic scoop and hot fudge topping are also from Die-namics Sweet Treats. However, the Razzle Berry layer is from Die-namics You're the Sweetest. Meant to coordinate with the stamp set, You're the Sweetest, these die cut images also happened to layer with Die-namics Sweet Treats! How I love when that happens!

And now for what might be my favorite part of the card, the awning! I stamped Striped Background onto a piece of Sweet Tooth cardstock with Tropical Teal Pigment Ink. I used pigment ink because that formulation covers the larger surfaces of the stripes better, and it stays wetter longer, allowing me to line up the paper better. Then I die cut the lower edge with Die-namics Stitched Scallop Edges. I scored the cardstock about 1" up from the scallops, then 1/2" past that and one more 1/2" past that. The last panel was adhered to the card, while the rest were folded and bent to create a darling awning!

Finally, I used a couple elements from Die-namics Blueprints 24 to create the card layers. Loving this set! The stitched large rectangle will be my new best card-making friend. Seriously great!

This card is simple and was a ton of fun! The background happened by accident. On my scrap paper. The paper I use to test images and colors. Simply Circles Background was on the paper already and I was checking the color of a small heart to see if I could add that to my first card. I dropped the heart inside the circles and this card was born!

I stamped Simply Circles Background onto a Sweet Tooth cardstock panel with Hybrid Black Licorice ink. Then I stamped a small heart image from Friends Like Us in random ink colors. How fun is that?!

A simple sentiment was needed, so I stole Barbara's favorite look and heat embossed with white powder a sentiment on a strip of Black Licorice cardstock. That background. Look out. I am going to use that a ton!

And wait until you check out all the other designer's projects with it! Its amazing what ink colors can do! Head to the MFT Blog and get linked up, and be sure and say hello to our newest design team member!

thanks for stopping by!

Ahhhh, so much to learn from this post! Did not realize how the two sets of die-namics would work together! Love your awning card. The striped stamp and stitched scallop die make it easy peasy! Got those on my wish list now! You are a great teacher, thank you for sharing how you made this card!
