MFT April Release Countdown: How to Create Stamps From Your Die-namics Tutorial

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Do you ever fall in love with a set of Die-namics? And dream of a stamp set to coordinate? I do. Often. This months Free with $60 purchase set of Die-namics is Gerbera Daisy and I wanted to stamp these gorgeous flower images! By using my Die-namics and a piece of crafting fun foam, I was able to create my very own stamps! Check out my tutorial below.

Oh, and a quick mention of the sentiment, its from Beautiful Baby by Lisa Johnson. Love, love, love the font and the size! Perfect for a million occasions!

Die cut basic crafting foam with Die-namics Gerbera Daisy. You will want to cut a few extras of each size.

Because the foam is thicker, you may need to run your foam through twice. Check after your first pass.

Apply repositionable adhesive to one side of the foam and apply it to your acrylic block. If you don't have this type of adhesive, a piece of double stick tape will work well.

Apply ink to the foam, like you would a stamp. It will take a bit more ink, so practice on a separate piece of paper before stamping on your project. For my largest flower, I used Pink Lemonade ink.

Here is a look at some of the flowers stamped. For the second largest flower, I used Spearmint Ink. And for the smallest flower, I used Sno Cone ink.

After stamping all the flowers, I realized I needed something more to add to the pattern. I went back and die cut one of the circle flower center pieces from Die-namics Gerbera Daisy and stamped it in Grapesicle Ink. The gold flowers and dots were created with the exact same technique.

Tips for creating your own stamps with Die-namics:
  • You will only be able to use one color of ink per die cut piece of fun foam. Once you use it, it will need to be tossed.
  • Dye or pigment inks work with the fun foam.
  • Watch the ink build up around your die-cut fun foam on the acrylic block. Be sure to wipe it away before you stamp.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. Be sure and stop by the MFT Blog and get linked up to the design team. Seriously, every.single.day. they amaze me with their creativity and gorgeous projects!

thanks for stopping by!

I adore that card and the wonderful background made with your die cut stamps. I never used a die cut on the fun foam before but I did fussy cut some designs out but of course they were not as good a shape as the die cut ones would be. I shall have to try that one day soon. Thanks for the inspiration!

You are a freakin' genius! I wonder if doubling up on the fun foam on the acrylic block might help with the ink getting onto the block before you stamp. Fun foam is really inexpensive and you just doubled everybody's dies into stamps. You should get an award for this girlfriend. I'm going to do a cool video on this technique but I am very big on giving credit where credit is due and I will definitely refer back to this blog post and you.
