I am so excited to be participating in my first MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! This month the challenge was, Spell It Out. Using any of the alphabet stamps or Die-namics we were to create projects where we spelled out what we wanted to say. The team has made some fantastic projects with crazy clever ways to customize your projects. Be sure and head to the MFT Blog to get started!
Having all things Valentine's Day on my mind, I immediately thought to spell out, I Love You. I placed my Die-namics onto a cardstock panel. Once they were spaced out the way I desired, a piece of low-tack tape was used to hold them in place while running them through my die cutting machine. A heart die cut with Staggered Hearts Border was also added to the front.
The background vellum was stamped with Darling Dots in gold ink. Be sure a give it a bit to dry when using pigment inks on vellum, as the ink stays on the surface for a long time. You could heat emboss the background, but I was going for a softer look.
Foam adhesive was used on the back of the die cut panel, to add more depth and shadow, allowing the letters to pop.
The inside was stamped with Darling Dots. Another die cut heart from Staggered Hearts Border was added. Then a sentiment from Distress Hearts was the finishing touch.
Keeping with the love theme, I started by die cutting the letters L,O,V,E from Pink Lemonade cardstock. As I sat and pondered what to do, I started going through my dies and it hit me, use Precious Polaroids! I am addicted and cannot stop using them!
The "photo" part of the die cut was stamped with Striped Backgrounds in Grout Grey ink. Nothing like making your own patterned paper!
The hearts were die cut from Staggered Hearts Border with cardstock that had been turned into an adhesive sheet. Once I peeled off the backing to the adhesive, I was able to apply silver glitter for a fun touch.
The clothespins were adhered at the top of each frame and then string was placed in the clips. Bows were tied on the ends and enamel dots were added.
The inside has a die cut piece of Primitive Cream cardstock. I used Lots of Love that has pre-spelled out words, but its the inside, we can bend the rules a little bit. :D And one more heart was added to finish things off sweetly.
Are you inspired? What things would you like to spell out? Any customized Valentine's Day ideas popping into your head?
thanks for stopping by!
