Welcome to the start of the MFT Stamps February Release Countdown! This month there is a little something for everyone! Flowers, backgrounds, cute, rocking, you name it, is all amazing!
Lisa Johnson has created a lovely set of stamps called, Spring Tulips. Its clean, classy, and simple, with the perfect sentiments!
I stamped one of the outline images onto white cardstock with Versamark Watermark ink. Then I heat embossed it with Clear Detail Embossing Powder. Using a Sour Apple and Persimmon re-inker, I added water to each, creating watercolors I could paint with.
Using a small paintbrush, I applied the ink over the flowers. I gently wiped the excess ink off the embossed areas with a paper towel.
The image was stamped onto a piece of Sweet Tooth cardstock that was cut with this rounded edge rectangle from Blueprints 22. Underneath that I placed two strips of Persimmon cardstock onto the Kraft cardstock card base.
For my next card, I used the solid images of tulips. I began by stamping the stems with several different colors of green inks. But before I put the image to the paper each time, I spritzed it lightly with water. It gave it a more watercolor look. Something different. The more water you use, the softer and less defined the images will be.
I repeated the same process for the tops of the tulips. I should mention that dye-based inks are the ones to use for this technique.
On the Sour Apple cardstock base, I stamped Houndstooth Background in Sour Apple ink. What another great background image! I also used the large rounded edge rectangle from Blueprints 22.
On both cards, I used Black Licorice Hybrid ink to stamp the sentiment because of the water techniques used with the dye-based ink pads. Using the Hybrid ink guaranteed that the words would not run or smudge.
