Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.
Wahoo! Its time to start the MFT Release Countdown for September! This month its about fall, back to school, and warmth, and warm cuddly things, hint, hint, wink, wink...Its one fantastic release so stick around and check out the happenings each day!
Lisa Johnson's latest, Out on a Limb, is fantastic. The tree, the leaves, the sentiments! Best part is, you can use this set with any season, fall winter or spring!
This school year, I need dude cards. Guy cards. Cards that won't make a man gag. E has the only male teacher in the building as his teacher this year. Its awesome! They have lots of interests in common, but he doesn't need or want anything girly or homemade girly. Its going to be a chore coming up with ideas, but this first card fits the bill perfectly!
As I looked at the solid stamp images, I wanted to add more dimension and texture. I immediately went back to the old kissing technique. I have a video tutorial below for you. Plus a tip on how to line up the stamped images.

To finish off the card, I stamped these awesome text circles from Out on a Limb on my Kraft card base. Then I added a Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX pennant cut from Electric Red cardstock. It was stamped with Typewriter Text Background with Electric Red ink. And don't forget the apple for the teacher. :)
For my second card, I used the same stamping technique, just layered up the card with Die-namics Blueprints 19. Die-namics Blueprints 19 helps design a square card, about 5x5". It includes lots of layers and so many pieces to play around with!
The sentiments in Out on a Limb are wonderful, as well as the tree image. I feel the need to create fall-colored leaves with these stamps very soon, but I am not quite ready for fall yet! :)
The Electric Red cardstock background was cut first with Die-namics Blueprints 19, was stamped with Wood Plank Background. That background just seems to fit brilliantly with these images, along with some inking on the edges with Natural ink.
One more card today because I cannot resist when I can create negative-space die-cut cards! Die-namics Out on a Limb coordinates perfectly with the stamps of the same name and its a lot of fun to use!
To die cut these two images out together, it needs to be done in two steps. As you can see, I started by die-cutting the tree trunk image out of Kraft cardstock first.
I placed the tree trunk on previously die cut leaves (to the right of the photo above) to illustrate how high up the group of leaves the tree trunk can be placed. Once I saw that, I knew how to line up my Die-namics to create the tree in the card above.
I slid the Die-namics leaves waaaay up the trunk and adjusted the Die-namics until I couldn't see any leaf edges showing through the opening.
Holding the Die-namics in place, I flipped the whole thing over and secured the Die-namics with low-tack tape.
I passed it through my manual die-cutting machine again, and yay! A lined up tree ready to be used!
Behind the tree, I layered strips of Electric Red, Tangy Orange, and Orange Fizz cardstocks. Each strip is about 1/2" wide.
Whew! That was a lot of information and fun! See how creative you can get and its only day one?!! Stop on over to the MFT Blog for lots more details and peeks at other products!
thanks for stopping by!
