MFT March Release Countdown Day 6

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Oh my word! Can you stand the cuteness? When I heard that Birdie Brown designs would be having a line of stamps with MFT I jumped for joy! This is very exciting! And what is even better is the fact that there are coordinating Die-namics too!

I started by die cutting Die-namics Sunflower Sweetheart from Blending Card by X-Press it. Then I stamped the Sunflower Sweetheart images and colored them with Copic markers. Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to see all the amazing details in this stamp set and Die-namics set!

For the card base, the new Wood Plank Background was stamped in Chocolate Brown ink onto Kraft cardstock. The panel was layered on a Tangy Orange cardstock card base. Then I added the images.

A few more die cut images and a sweet sentiment finished off the inside of the card.

Here is a look at the Copic markers that I used on both of my colored cards today. Hope that helps.

Because I couldn't put all the adorable images from Sunflower Sweetheart down, I came up with this card. I thought the small pot looked like it could be a birdbath for those two cuties! I made the base post by die cutting the fence from Die-namics Sunflower Sweetheart and trimming away the rest. Coloring the single post with Copics seemed to work perfectly.

The blue sky got a fun touch by embossing a stencil that will be released this month called, Sun Ray. For more about how to emboss your stencils, you can check out a video tutorial I did here: Embossing Stencils.

The inside was stamped with images in Natural Ink onto the Kraft cardstock base. A couple of colored and die cut images finished things off.

I just HAD to play with this Sun Ray stencil more! I used it as a stitching template. Maybe a little crazy, but the way it turned out made all the time worth it! The sentiment is from Words of Inspiration and was stamped onto vellum. I kept the strip of vellum long, so that I could wrap it around the front part of the card, because adhering that to the front would ruin the look.

A quick look at how I stitched with Stencil Sun Ray.
I placed my stencil onto a foam pad and pierced along the openings with a paper piercer.
(My foam pad is made for this kind of piercing but a mouse pad works as well.)

Good thing I was watching a good movie to pass the time... :)

I used basic embroidery floss to stitch. Wanting the stitches thinner in appearance, I used only two threads from the skein at a time.

I used a running stitch, which makes a solid line of stitches. Start stitching by bringing the threaded needle up through the bottom.

Go back down the next opening.

Bring the needle back up the next opening.

And go back down the previous opening. (There will be thread in this opening already, if not, try again.)

Continue bringing the needle up through the previous hole until you complete your stitching.

Another fun way to use your stencils!

And as always, head over to the MFT Blog! Full images of new product, links to the fabulous design team, and a chance to win! Yay!

thanks for stopping by!

I took the Steciled class at Online Card classes recently. There were so many techniques I learned to use with stencils. But they left out your technique! I LOVE your idea & it looks fantastic!

Oh I love the SunRay card. I have never had much luck with stitching. Somehow, I tend to tear the cardstock when I stitch. Maybe I'll give it a try again, as I am inspired by this card :-) Thank you so much for sharing.

Kimberly I am completely blown away by these cards. I am a sewer -- quilter, so I love the sewing; your cross hatching on the hat is beautiful and using the vellum for the sentiments is spot on. Beautiful cards.

All of your cards are beautiful! The stitching is fantastic, you gave me something new to try. The way you used the stencil on the birdbath card made me laugh! It's like a big exclamation point showing the birdies happiness in their bath.

Such a sweet girl that new image is! Thank you for showing what copics you use - very helpful for me, who is still new and untrained in copics :)
