My Favorite Things Release Countdown Day 7

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Ahhhh. Who else needed a fresh breath of spring? Today's stamps will bring a touch of warmth to your day and to your heart with sweet sentiments! Lisa Johnson has designed Forget Me Not. A lovely set of stamps that I could not wait to start using!

Using Die-namics Forget me Not, I die cut vellum. Then stamped the coordinating image onto the vellum. Keep in mind when you stamp on vellum, it takes longer to dry. How pretty is that? And I could not be happier to have stamps and coordinating dies!

To keep the theme going on the inside of the card, I simply cut away a strip of the "patterned paper" I created for the front and stamped a sentiment. Such a sweet phrase!

There is a stencil that can also coordinate with this stamp set! Stencil LJD Spring Flowers was used to create the background inside the circle. The circle was die cut from cardstock using Die-namics Blueprints 12. I love the stitching detail around the outside of the circle! The text image stamped is also from Forget Me Not.

Here is a quick tutorial on how I created my "patterned paper." You will need a stencil, watercolor pencils, repositionable adhesive, a spray bottle, and a paper towel or two.

Apply a small amount of repositionable adhesive to the back of your stencil. Just in various places and just enough to hold it in place while you work. It will give your hands a break from having to hold it in place so long.

Color inside each opening with your watercolor pencils. Layer the colors for more depth. And color the open area solidly, so that when water is added, the area fills in completely.

Once the areas are all colored, spritz water onto a paper towel. Dab the paper towel over the openings until the watercolor has moved as much as you desire.

To fill in the background, pick color off your pencil with a water brush and apply the color where desired. Consider using two shades of green for more depth. Another fun way to use your stencils!

For my second card today, I stuck with the same supplies, Die-namics Blueprints 12, Forget Me Not stamps and Stencil LJD Spring Flowers.

Being inspired by the forget me not flower, I die cut Sno Cone cardstock with the flowers in Die-namics Blueprints 12. Then, using a paper piercer, I put holes in the flower where I could stitch with embroidery floss. I love the detail it added to a basic image. I hand cut the white piece for the center and added an enamel dot. The leaves got some stitching too.

The sentiment was stamped onto the circle (drop out) left over from my first card. Love when that happens! I used my stencil in another unique way; as an embossing tool. Placing the stencil on my card base, I ran it through my manual die cutting machine as if it were an embossing folder. Pretty cool, huh?

It's time to fill your day with spring, so head on over to the MFT Blog and see what the rest of the team has in store for you!

thanks for stopping by!
