Mail It Monday: Organization + Giveaway

It is Mail It Monday! Your friendly reminder to stop by the mailbox and mail those beautiful cards!

Today Mail It Monday is about organization. One of my biggest stumbling blocks to mailing, is finding the time. We all have such busy lives! Myself, I am in the car all the time. From band, to choir, to swim, running my son around never ends! Not to mention I have to buy groceries (and all those other things) because my family expects to eat. The nerve! Ha!

Scrolling through Instagram one day, I saw a FANTASTIC idea from Jill Hawkins. (@jilldhawkins on Instagram) She uses these wonderful zipped bags to keep all her card-mailing things together. Not only are they in one place, but they are easy to grab when running out the door! Perfect for me to use in the car, at the pool, or wherever I am waiting and have a few extra minutes.

*Side note, Jill is my card-mailing hero! She inspires me to not only make great cards, but to send that love to others!*

The bags can be found at Amazon. They come in several sizes, but I thought the size closest to a standard piece of paper would be best for what I wanted to store inside. You can find the bags by simply clicking on the image above.

I am excited to start using my bags! The items I am currently keeping in my bag include:
  • Stamps
  • Envelopes with my return address stamped on them
  • Cards both handmade and pre-made
  • Pens
  • Washi tape for decorating my envelopes
  • Lettermate Companion for lining up my addresses straight, more soon!
As I update my bag, I will let you know any items I add or take away. You do the same, because learning tips from each other is awesome!

GIVEAWAY: I have 3 bags to giveaway here and 3 bags to giveaway on Instagram! Feel free to enter in both places! To enter here, leave a comment on this post by Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10 PM CDT. I occasionally send cards to friends just so they can receive some happy mail. I also have a friend that frequently sends cards to me for no particular reason. It's the best!

This is a super idea. I am trying to send more cards. I have 94 year old friend who's been hasn't been feeling well. Last week she had a stroke, which could have been fatal if she hadn't been at a meeting where friends quickly called 911. She was taken to the hospital where she had surgery and now has been moved to rehab. I've started showering her with cards from organizations we both belong to just to let her know she's loved and everyone's praying for a speedy recovery. A card is going in the mail to her today and I'll try to get another made a little later this week to send to her. She's amazing and very special to me.

That’s a great idea to be able to grab on your way out the door.
You might want to add some clear tape to put on the envelope if your card has embellishments that stick up from the card.
By taping over the bumpy areas, it may prevent the envelope from getting caught and ripping in the automatic sorting equipment.
I mailed a card last week to a Co worker diagnosed with breast cancer & yesterday, I visited an out of town aunt and handed her her card.

I sent a handmade birthday card to my son for his 41st birthday. when he received it, he immediately took a picture of it and posted it on Facebook. He saves all the cards that I send to him. This week I will be sending out another birthday card to a friend's son for his 21st birthday. I love making and sending cards.

Hi Kimberly, last week I mailed a birthday card to my grandson who is a freshman in college. I also mailed a card to my 93 year old aunt just to let her know she was on my mind! I love your idea of keeping pens, stamps, etc all together in one of those bags. Love your ideas and especially encouraging everyone to mail all those cards we make!

This is an awesome idea and I am so glad I found this. I don't do as much sitting around waiting on kids as I used to. But soon it will be the grandkids that I am waiting on, I'm sure. I recently sent my daughter a Birthday card (her big day is today) and I have several birthday cards to send this week. I am so glad I found these Mail It Monday ideas. Thanks so much!

I love this idea! It would definitely help me get cards in the mail if I had everything all together in one place. I have a card going in the mail today for a family that I was close to when I was in college. The father is fighting a deadly disease and has just had a bone marrow transplant to help fight it. I want them to know I love them and I'm praying for them as they go through this difficult time.

These bags are a great idea!! I mail cards out regularly to my friends and family, and will be sending one this week to my daughter's father in law, he is having a birthday next week and as the post deliveries are a bit slow in New South Wales I always send them a few days early.

I received a card last week from a friend thanking me for helping in a ministry she is involved with. Felt so special! Made me realize why I send cards!

What a neat idea to keep it all in a bag! :) Since I would rather invest money into stamps/inks/etc, I end up making my own envelopes instead of purchasing them. I pretty much just cut and score a piece of pattern paper that matches the card. That way, not only it looks nice, but I also use the pattern paper that I probably wouldn't ever get to use. I do hope to find the sources to invest into envelopes soon, though! Today I finished up two cards to be sent to family members in Brazil, and one to a friend in Canada. I heard that mailing prices went up; and so I know I'll be stopping at the post office to check if I have enough stamps on it :) thank you for sharing such great tips!

Yes, unfortunately we have to eat! Think of all of the crafty time and money wasted on that food shopping, cooking and clean up? We could be buying more crafting supplies and creating.....What a bummer. right? LOL
Great bags for crafting on the go. I have spent a lot of time colouring on the go and try to keep a bag packed and ready at all times. (This time last year my Dad was in hosp. for about 6 weeks so I would colour as I sat there with him each day when he slept. Sadly he passed at the end of Oct. but he enjoyed seeing what I coloured and that brought a smile to his face.)

I sent several thank you notes to friends who had me in their homes during Harvey! My house wasn’t damaged but I couldn’t get home for almost a week and they took me in.
