beary special birthday!

Welcome to the MFT Stamps Release Countdown! For the next few days we will be sharing projects featuring the new stamps, dies, and stencils that will be releasing this month. You will be able to purchase any of the products you see over the next few days on Tuesday, July 5 at 9 pm Central.

The MFT Stamps 10th Anniversary birthday celebration continues today with Birdie Brown! Beary Special Birthday and the coordinating Die-namics Beary Special Birthday carries on the adorable tradition of all things Birdie Brown!

After stamping my adorable bear from Beary Special Birthday, I colored him with colored pencil. I also stamped and colored the separate party hat image. Once my images were finished, I die cut them with Die-namics Beary Special Birthday. I find that working in that order is best for me. Plus, I can stamp a whole sheet of images and take them with me to the pool during practice, or to band lessons, or wherever!

The background was a piece that I had created a long time ago, when I was experimenting. The colors and polka dots screamed party. I began by adding ink to a piece of watercolor paper with my Mini Ink Blending tool. Then I placed Jumbo Polka Dot Stencil over the top, securing both the watercolor panel and stencil with washi tape to keep them from moving. Through the openings in the stencil, I pushed a damp paper towel and held it in place for several seconds. Doing this, lifts the ink color away, creating a soft pattern. Its one of my favorite techniques!

Around the outside of the panel, I added the largest image from Die-namics Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames. To make it easier to adhere to the watercolor panel, I used the EZ Runner Micro Strips adhesive. The small line of permanent adhesive is perfect for these frames!

To give the bear a little more pop, I used foam adhesive, but before putting him down, he also needed to be grounded onto the card. The sentiment from Beary Special Birthday helped, but the small shadow image from the new Die-namics Oval Shadows created the best landing space!

Visit the MFT Stamps blog for all the information you will need about the upcoming release. That includes product images, product videos, links to the design team projects, and more! Plus, there always seems to be a chance to win!

Kimberly--I love to see colored pencils as a medium...one of my favorite mediums. And how brilliant your idea for the spotted background! It looks so great and I'm definitely going to attempt that one! And again, How cute are those bears?
