adding nautical details to cards; MFT Stamps August Release Countdown

Welcome to the MFT Stamps Release Countdown! For the next few days we will be sharing projects featuring the new stamps, dies, and stencils that will be releasing this month. You will be able to purchase any of the products you see over the next few days on Tuesday, at 9 pm Central.

Its a nautical theme here today! With a few cute images and elements, let's enjoy the final days of summer!

Soak Up the Fun and the coordinating Die-namics Soak Up the Fun are full of whimsical images ready for sea-scapes. From the whale to the sea weed, to the adorable crab, you have fun images for cards, but I can see using this set for making some summer scrapbook layouts!

To amp up the nautical feel of this card, I stamped the new Triple Stripe Background image directly on to my card base.

With the nautical theme already in mind, I saw Die-namics Stitched Triple Peek-A-Boo Windows. While this set of dies is actually three separate dies, that need to be separated after purchasing, I thought they looked like the port holes in a cruise ship! So why not keep them together?! At least for this card. :D

And if you are seeing this and have already separated them, no worries, simply space them apart on your card stock and secure them in place with a small piece of low-tack tape when passing them through your die cutting machine.

Sticking out of the cruise ship windows are some more adorable images from Soak Up the Fun! All of the images today were colored with color pencil. My favorite coloring medium these days. I love the control of the blending and the soft texture they add.

I cut the images out with Die-namics Soak Up the Fun, but trimmed some spots away by hand, to get the animals to fit, and to separate the two monkeys.

To add to the cruise ship look, I trimmed two small strips of Wild Cherry card stock and added those. Along with Lemon Drop card stock stars created with Die-namics Pierced Star STAX. The sentiment is from Soak Up the Fun and I love how well all the sentiments work with this set!

Oh, and the cruise ship had to be in the water, so I added waves created with a new border set of dies called, Die-namics Stitched Whimsical Waves. What a fun detail to add!

Visit the MFT Stamps blog for all the information you will need about the upcoming release. That includes product images, product videos, links to the design team projects, and more! Plus, there always seems to be a chance to win!

thanks for stopping by!

I've been thinking, I might need 2 of the triple peek-a-boo dies. One to keep attached and one to cut apart. It is a possibility. Love your cute modern day ark :-)

Love these cards. The Stripes with whale adds a different dimension to the card and balances it out.
The cruising monkeys & elephant are peeking out their portholes perhaps looking for land. Have they spied some banana trees somewhere?

Wow, I just love them both, but the cruise ship card is amazing! Love all the little details on it and how you separated the little monkeys from their banana boat. So, so cute!

Love this first card, the design is so simple but the colors and images really make it all fit together so perfectly.
