Ingenious Inking; an MFT Challenge

"As we begin our Ingenious Inking journey, we thought it would be fun to show how our line of MIX-ables can be used to alter our Premium Dye Inks, Pigment Inks, and Hybrid Inks to create new looks and applications. MIX-ables make it easy to add sparkle, shine, and glitz to your projects – subtle or bold – it truly is a bit of crafting magic."

Look! Another fun challenge! THIS one is going to be all about the ink and there are some awesome challenges coming in the new few months! This will also be a once-a-month challenge.

I started basic with the Mix-ABLES. A simple application that still had beautiful results. If you haven't used Mix-ABLES before, there are two versions, Sheer Shimmer Mist and Steel Shimmer Mist. I am using Sheer today. Sheer is opaque and pearl-like. Steel adds a deeper color as it is grey-based like the name suggests.

I used Die-namics Royal Rose to cut Coral Crush cardstock. Once I assembled the rose, I added a center to the flower. It was created by cutting Blueberry cardstock with Die-namics Grassy Edges. I cut a 1/2" strip of the cardstock, making sure that when I cut it, I left a straight edge. The strip was then cut into three smaller pieces. I rolled one of the pieces and glued it inside the center of the flower. When it was finished I spritzed the flower with Sheer Shimmer Mist. I held the bottle about 6 inches away from the flower and gave it 4-5 squirts, all from a different angle for better coverage.

I stamped the Smooth White cardstock panel with the banner image from Desert Bouquet using Summer Splash ink. The sentiment from Friends Like Us was stamped with Blueberry Ink. The hearts are also from the same set as the sentiment and were stamped with Lemon Drop ink.

For this card, I got a little more creative! I used the Sheer Shimmer Mist along with dye ink refills to create a medium for stamping.

Stamping with this mixture creates a beautiful shimmer on your project! Look at the flower farthest to the left! Take a look at the video tutorial below to see how easy it is to do!

This card was also finished with a sentiment from Friends Like Us. And be sure to watch the video for an important tip about stamping that banner image in the background from Desert Bouquet.

Visit the MFT Blog for more details about this fun new challenge and to be linked up to the rest of the team. I saw some amazing projects and I cannot wait to learn more about using Sheer Mists!

thanks for stopping by!
