5 days to an organized stash day 2: stencils

Welcome back to day 2 of the 5 Days To An Organized Crafty Stash! Today its all about stencils. Those wonderful, versatile, trendy, fabulous tools that we collect, and that make a mess when it comes to storing them! Here is a little look at how I keep my stencils under control.

MFT Stamps has 6x6 page protectors in the store. They hold the stencils perfectly.

I have used my label maker to label some of the page protectors

And because I know you will ask, meet my Dymo. I love, love, love this label maker! Its the Dymo 210D and its awesome. You can control the font size, which makes me happy. It also comes in several different colors and sizes of tape.

Now, I don't have a small fortune to spend on storage, so I am keeping several sets of stencils together in the same page protectors. I have 5 in one page protector, three on one side and two on the other side. They fit fine, but I would not put too many more in each page.

As I can, I will add more page protectors to my collection. Here are my groupings:
Hearts
Polka Dots
Stars
Patterns x3 (chevron, etc.)
Nature (rain, sun, clouds)
Numbers and letters
Animal prints
Stripes (thin, thick, diagonal)

And one final note, I had the page protectors in the plastic bin above, separately. (The bin I found in the back-to-school clearance section.) They slid all over and were irritating. So, I grabbed two loose-leaf rings and put them through the punched holes in the page protectors. Much better.

While I like the plastic bin, I am thinking that I need to keep an eye out for a 6x6 album,
something cute, or something I can alter. If I find one, I will let you know.

Look at this awesome prize above! I love all those stencils! To be entered to win, head over to the
MFT Blog and leave a comment on today's post. I love when you share with me on my blog, but to enter, you must leave comments there. Go, I want you to win! :)

organizing makes my heart pitter patter, so thanks for stopping by!

Kimberly, I love your idea and I love the binder rings. You gave me a fantastic idea (think I will make my own cover for the 6x6 page protectors). Thanks for the inspiration.

Love the idea of putting the stencils in a page protector and sliding them onto a ring! Thanks for sharing!

After reading your post I dug up an American Crafts album that I never got around to altering. The stencils fit perfectly! All I need to do is make some tabbed dividers and I'm set. Thank you so much for solving my storage problem. God Bless.

My collecting of stencils will soon outgrow the 8x8 album that it's in. Love how you used the rings. I'll have to do the same. Thanks for the idea and inspiration.

I love the idea of the photo sleeves and using the rings, you could also sort them into a theme or the like. If I can't find a 6 X 6 binder I think this is what I will try. Thanks for sharing.

Quick way for storage of stencils. I can see why you will keep an eye open for a 6X6 album. Thanks for sharing.
