MFT Release Countdown: an interactive treat tag + photo tutorial

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

Hello again! We just keep rolling through this super fun August release with more Halloween! As I looked at Die-namics Witch's Cauldron, I started thinking about what I could do with her goo and the cute die representing it...

...and then I thought, a pull-out tag!

Here is a photo tutorial on how easy it is to make this tag!

I started with a basic card base made from Black Licorice cardstock

I placed Die-namics Witch's Cauldron over the edge of the score, slightly. This will make a shaped card base. And note the low-tack tape I am using to hold the die in place. This will keep it exactly where I want it while passing it through my manual die cutting machine.

MFT cardstock is super thick and awesome. And, when I passed it through my machine, it needed to go through twice. While it cut the outside edges well, the spot for the goo came out of the front, but not the back. This worked perfectly for what I needed. If I had needed it to come out, I could have passed it through one more time.

Using the left-over pieces from my shaped card base, I die cut the spoon. I also cut the bubbling goo die from Sour Apple cardstock. Wanting to layer the goo with more than one color, so I die cut the top piece from the cauldron from Gumdrop Green cardstock

I layered the goo together.

Then using another piece of left over Black Licorice cardstock, I adhered the goo to the top.

I trimmed the strip of cardstock to fit inside the cauldron

then adhered the spoon to the back. I also adhered the cauldron sides shut, by carefully applying adhesive around the edges.

Stamped images from Spooky Sentiments were heat embossed on both the front of the cauldron and the inside pull-out tag.

And one last note, I used hemp cord to tie my tag around the treat bag. It is a cream color, but when I run a Copic marker over it, I can make it any color I want!

One more project today, because I cannot resist the images from Birdie Brown! Witch Way Is the Candy is soooooo cute! From Primitive White cardstock, I cut Die-namics Witch way Is the Candy. I stamped the coordinating image onto it with Hybrid Black Licorice ink. She is colored with pencils and Gamsol. (I need more practice. :))

I used Die-namics Blueprints 18 parts to create the background for this cutie. The angled piece is Orange Fizz cardstock that was stamped with the new Cheesecloth Background in Orange Fizz ink. The kraft card base was stamped with Star Background using Natural ink. And of course, I inked the edges with Natural ink. How I love that ink for edging!

Head over to the MFT blog to see all the awesome products being shown today, especially all the images in Witch Way Is the Candy!!
