MFT July Release Rewind-Ink and Stencil Technique

How fun has this month's release been? All the celebrating, birthday, happiness, and cupcakes, I hope you had a great time shopping! If you are still deciding, hop along today (from the MFT Blog) and see a few more projects we all didn't get around to sharing during the release countdown, and let the gorgeous projects help you finalize your choices. If you are waiting for your order, then sit back and get ideas to use the moment you can get into that lovely white box!

With all the birthday celebrating going on, I wanted to create a card that looked like a present, all wrapped up in a bow. (Or twine. You know I love twine.) I started with this month's Free with $60 purchase Tag Talk Die-namics. Its a great little set of dies with plain and worded tags. Perfect for layering like I did here. I cut the basic tag from Blu Rapsberry cardstock. The worded tag is Nightshift Blue cardstock

The background is Kraft cardstock that was inked with Natural Ink through Stencil Diagonal Stripes. Subtle and awesome. This stencil will be getting a ton of usage from me. Diagonal stripes are soooo trendy and timeless.

After I created the background, I tied the twine and tag around the panel.

The fun, final detail on this card is the flowers. Well, maybe for me its more about the centers, but stay tuned, I will get to those another day. I die cut Spearmint cardstock with Die-namics Mini Royal Roses. Rolled them up and added a Lemon Drop cardstock center. The leaves are Sour Apple cardstock that was die cut with the leaves from Die-namics Upsy Daisy.

INK  AND STENCIL TECHNIQUE :

How fun is this? Bright, cherry, and perfect to send to anyone on their birthday! The sentiment is from Birthday Chalkboard Greetings (squeals of happiness for the scribble font!). And the line of presents is from
Celebrate You.

This card happened because of me being a klutz. See the piece of paper above? Its my scrap paper as I work. See the splotches? That is where I spilled my water from my water bottle. When I looked down and saw what happened to the ink, I thought, hmmm, wonder if...yep. Keep reading. My idea worked!

I took a piece of watercolor paper and covered it with various MFT dye-based inks.

Then I secured my paper and Stencil Diagonal Stripes to my work space. I wet down the edges of a paper towel and gently pressed the paper towel over the stencil, making sure to reach the paper underneath, knowing after my spill, that this would remove some of the ink. I went slowly and continued to re-wet my paper towel as needed, making sure not to mix up the ink colors too much.

I peeked a few times by lifting the stencil to see if I had achieved enough of the look I was going for. This is the results. Pretty cool, huh? I cannot wait to try this with my other stencils!!!

And one last bright card. Lots of left-over pieces from all my projects earlier in the release. I love keeping all my pieces and seeing what comes together! The background is Happy Birthday Background stamped in Natural Ink on to Kraft cardstock

The word happy is from Die-namics Happy and it was die cut from Lemon Drop cardstock that was stamped with Star Background in Sweet Tooth ink. The tag is from the Free with $60 Talk Talk Die-namics.  I stamped it with the word birthday from Happy Everything in Hybrid Black Licorice ink. And there is that Confetti Background too!

Well, there you have it, another amazing release from MFT Stamps! So much fun! Thanks for hanging out with me all week and leaving such sweet comments!

thanks for stopping by!
