MFT Creative Challenge: Stripes!

Welcome to the MFT Stamps design team Creative Challenge for July! This month we have been challenged to use patterns, and more specifically, stripes! I adore stripes. Big time. Its truly an addiction. My love for stripes runs so deep that my husband and son both beg me not to buy them anything with stripes when I clothes shop for them! So I guess I will have to feed my need on paper crafting projects! :)

Diagonal stripes. Yum. Especially in black and white! Some of my favorite pieces of patterned paper have exactly this element. This means I never need to hoard the paper again, I have stamps to create my own!

To create this set of diagonal stripes, I used Striped Background. After applying Hybrid Black Licorice Ink to my stamp surface, I turned the image to the side. I stamped it onto a piece of white cardstock. To get the pattern part I wanted, I simply trimmed away the excess paper, essentially using the middle. Just a note, I would use the dye-based Black Licorice Ink next time, I just happened to be out at the moment. Can you say stamper problems? :)

Then I decided to think outside the box. Flipping through my stamps from the July release, I was in birthday mode. And it struck me, these thick stripes look like candles! Voila!

Then on the left edge of each stripe, I applied Razzle Berry Ink, using the side of the ink pad. I spritzed water onto the entire stamp surface and stamped it onto Smooth White cardstock. I love the results!

See the candle flame? Don't remember that image? I got creative and dug through my images. I came across Easter Bunny and one of the leaf images from the set was the perfect answer!

Be sure and head over to the MFT Blog and see what the rest of the team has in store for you! I was inspired looking at all the amazing cards they made last night!

thanks for stopping by!

P.S. This past weekend was pretty awesome at our house! Our little man was a part of the All-City Swim Meet. He took first place in the 25 Fly, second in the 25 Free, and both his relays took first! Then to top it all off, his team won the meet! Which was a huge deal! We are so proud of how hard he has worked! I think the real excitement for him kicked in when his name was in the paper 4 times! Such a great weekend!!

Way to think outside the box ... or stripe, Kimberly! :) LOVE your stripe birthday candle card with the watercolor look! And your black "distressed" stripe accent is wonderful for those gorgeous flowers on the first card!

Both are great, but the stripes as candles just lit up the whole card! Awesome, Kimberly!
