MFT Design Team April Creative Challenge: Jazz Up Flowers

Welcome to the April MFT Design Team Creative Challenge! This month the design team is being challenged to jazz up our flowers with pattern or texture, or even both! My first problem was narrowing down which of all the gorgeous MFT Flowers I would use! I immediately went for MFT Die-namics, because of the all the possibilities!

After I grabbed my cardstock and Die-namics, I started working on the base of the card. Steel Grey cardstock seemed like a super way to get the bright flowers to pop off the card. A panel of Steel Grey cardstock was trimmed and stamped with On The Diagonal Background with Steel Grey ink. The sentiment was stamped onto a Die-namics Dimensional Banners die cut from Primitive White cardstock.

Then I die cut Razzle Berry cardstock with Die-namics Upsy-Daisy. This set of Die-namics has three flowers, each one step down in size. Each flower was stamped with Darling Dots in Razzle Berry ink. Once the ink dried, I placed each flower on a special foam mat and used a tool kit for creating realistic flowers. By pressing the large end of the stylus tool (shown above) in a circular motion into the center of the flower, it caused the cardstock to curl up and add dimension to the flower. Now, I did use a special kit, but, you could just as easily use a mouse pad and an old stencil stylus tool you have in your tool stash.

I repeated the same process for the leaves. The Sour Apple cardstock was die cut with the leaves from
Die-namics Upsy-Daisy. I curled the leaves by running the stylus along once side of the leaves. After I took this photo, I realized that the leaves needed some pattern too, so they were stamped with the striped image from Washi Patterns in Sour Apple ink.

And here is a side look at all the fun dimension and pattern added to the flowers. I love being able to make them look so much more real. It gives them so much more life!

For the inside, I added a flower that did not get added dimension with the tool kit, but got all the great pattern with stamps. The sentiments on both the front and inside are from Sunflower Sweetheart.

Head on over to the MFT Blog and see what the rest of the team is up to with their flower creations. You know it will be inspiring! I cannot wait to hop along myself!

thanks for stopping by!
