MFT January Release Countdown Day Two

Welcome to this month's Release Countdown with My Favorite Things! You will find complete countdown details each day on the MFT Blog, including how you can win prizes and full reveals of featured products.

I admit that I had waaaaay too much fun creating with this new stamp set from Wendy Burns, called Its a Pirate's Life!! Having a certain little man who is all about all things pirate, this set will be perfect for so many projects!

I started my pirate-themed projects off with a new Die-namics called Treat Pocket. I was thinking Valentine's Day. Wouldn't this be a fun way to give a small treat like a gift card? The die cut pocket was stamped with Striped Backgrounds in Electric Red ink and assembled. Then I used Die-namics Dimensional Banners. (More new goodness.) I stamped the sentiment on the curve, by curving my stamp as I placed it on the acrylic block. Two stamped hearts were added.

In creating release projects, I like to challenge myself to use only the products in front of me. It forces me to get creative. Not having an actual flag, I thought back to flags I had created for my son's birthday party a few years ago. I printed on paper, in a square. Then the thought crossed my mind, hey, what about the square insides of the Die-namics Precious Polaroid?! Turns out the middle-sized one was the best for the scale of this treat pocket. :) Two holes were pierced in the top and bottom and a tooth pick was placed through. A die cut heart from Die-namics Staggered Hearts border was stamped upon to create the real pirate flag, the Jolly Roger.

A super simple card, perfect for any little boy in your life! The ship, fish, and cloud images were stamped in Grout Grey. Then I stamped the sentiment and pirate image in Black Licorice ink. A heart was stamped in Electric Red ink.

Another simple inside, but such a cute touch!

And because I cannot help myself and all good pirates need a treasure chest, I made another treat holder using Die-namics Treat Tote. I die cut and then stamped the pieces with Woodgrain Background. Once assembled I added 4x4.5" stamped panel of cardstock in the same color over the top. Two strips of Lemon Drop cardstock were cut (5x.5"), inked and once a brad was pierced through, adhered to the chest. (Use good adhesive.)

Go and visit the MFT Blog for more details about the January release. And if you love Its a Pirate's Life, run there! The whole team has blown me away with all their creative takes on this set and the blog will link you to everyone!!

thanks for stopping by!

You were so creative with this set. Everything is great but I think my favorite is the addition of the treasure chest so smart. What little boy or girl wouldn't love to receive one full of goodies.
