CardMaker Blog Team Hop: Metallic Inspirations

merry christmas metallic

Today its all about the bling and anything shiny. Bling is not really my thing, though, so I put a little twist on it.

merry christmas metallic CU

I embossed a piece of foil with a Spellbinders MBossabilities and then sanded away the raised edges with a sanding tool. See, shiny, but not. :) And to counteract the shiny even more, some twine and a button were added. :) The patterned paper is from my all-time favorite Christmas line from Basic Grey, Jovial. Sadly, it is not available anymore.

Check out the rest of the fabulous team, because I know some of them embraced the bling!

thanks for stopping by!

P.S. all the personal stuff…we spent a wonderful weekend in MN with my family. I got plenty of snuggles with my nephew, who is almost 5 months old now. And enjoyed some mom and dad cooking. :)

On a sad note, I taught my last class at my LSS tonight. Sadly, it is closing at the end of the month. I will miss it and the lovely ladies that I have had the privilege of getting to know the past couple of years. Please remember to support your local store.

Beautiful card Kimberly! I love the embossing! It reminds me of the stunning ceilings in one of our old, ornate buildings here in town.

Sorry to hear about your LSS. Makes me want to shop at mine today! :)

Hugs,
True :D

Kimberly, this is beautiful! I love your mix of shiny and distressed. The Jovial papers are perfect for your card! Thanks for sharing :) Sadly, I have to drive 90 minutes to find a LSS these days. I guess internet shopping is taking over the world :)

Beautiful card Kimberly and thought along the same lines of using a Spellbinders folder! Love the foil you used and need to see if my LSS has some... Sorry to hear about yours closing and try to shop at mine as often as possible (sadly 40 miles away but still...nothing like an actual store to see supplies up close!)

Beautiful card, Kimberly-I really like how you sanded the foil! I'm glad you had a wonderful time with your family, but am sad to hear about your LSS closing.

Gorgeous card, I love the embossed background.
So sorry to hear about the LSS closing. I work in our lss and I'm so thankful that the owner has diversified the store, we have a printing/graphic design side (business cards, flyers, brochures, etc.) which is booming and also school supplies. Thankfully all areas are showing a profit and for our little area that is huge!

Your card is lovely. I really like the embossed metal look. I'm glad you had a nice weekend with your family. Sorry to hear about your LSS closing - that seems to be the trend. Mine closed about 2 months ago. I miss the stamps and the ideas, but I miss the great ladies that worked there even more. They were always so helpful.
