wood buttons

                                   1 Wooden Buttons

Being a stamper at heart (if it stays still long enough, it will be stamped,) any embellishment I can add my own touch to speaks to me. Right now, that would be wood buttons. You can find wood buttons at your local craft store or fabric store.

If you purchase buttons with a shiny finish on them, use a sanding tool or a piece of fine-grit sandpaper to remove the finish.

For the card I created below, I chose to heat emboss the turquoise-colored buttons. To do this, I first stamped a pattern on the button with watermark ink. Using both hands, very gently roll the stamp a bit around the button.

Sprinkle embossing powder onto the buttons. Remove the excess powder and heat set.

I varied the looks of each button. I stamped pink stripes onto the button shown above. When doing this, make sure to use an ink formulated for multiple surfaces.

The green button has heat-embossed hearts. Stamp each heart onto button with watermark ink, sprinkle with embossing powder and then heat set.

Stamp a button with a text background image. Again, use ink formulated for multiple surfaces.

Buttons can also be colored to match. Simply rub the ink onto the button. Using a cosmetic sponge to apply the ink provides more even coverage.

Imagine all the possibilities! Perfectly coordinated buttons for all your projects!

thanks for stopping by!
