Whew!

Whew! What a stretch of chaos it has been around here! It started off with me heading north to MN. I took the little man and we worked on getting some spring yard cleaning done. (We have been having great traffic through our house, but still waiting for an offer.) But the biggest reason we went north was to help my family get my grandma’s house ready to sell. She has moved into an apartment. Its tough. Her and grandpa built the house. I spent so much of my childhood there. And I lived there for two summers during college. I guess being so far away now, I am shielded from the reality of it. On the other hand, she does need to be in a place with lots of people and where someone can keep a closer eye on her. She is 90 and amazing, but still she’s 90.

Then it was back home and onto an airplane to sunny Arizona! Myself and the other Spellbinders design team members headed there for several days of learning, creating, staying up too late, and of course, getting spoiled by Stacey!

Cross Promotional Product

Look at that! Can you believe all the wonderful product we were given to work with? I know it was the second go-round for me, but it was still amazing!! Nothing like new dies and new product to get my lack of mojo moving!! Thank you so very much to all the generous companies!!!

Now I am back home and working on a couple of huge projects. Project number one being the July 2010 Stampendous catalog which will be coming out at CHA-S. AND the other one is a secret that is just ready to come bursting out!!! I can tell you that on May 6th all will be revealed, if I can keep it in that long.

Ohhh...I have been wanting to try spellbinders, but I don't have any! I like the scalloped circles for a sun, or even a medal type card. The other ones would just be adorable for a spring card of any type.

Susan said...

Sorry, I forgot I wanted to also say, it is sad when you have to "displace" the elders of the family, but it does need to be done, and most usually adjust soon enough.

I grew up without grandparents, but my Aunt Helen; Dad's oldest sister was the next best thing for EVERYONE, and we she eventually had to be moved, it was a huge hole for our very extended family to deal with.

God bless your grandma, and may there still be memories to make with her, for a long time to come.

Wow! Your goodies looked like Christmas x 2! I would love to have that inverted circles. I know I would make some fun kids' birthday cards with them! I am SURE I would put them on some fun scrapbook layouts, too!!! The bunny stuff would go on an Easter layout and probably cards for next year! Thanks so much for a chance to win. I've only been able to afford 2 spellbinders so far... :-)

Jamie said...

Oh I could make some of the cutest cards!

Whew, you must be exhausted!

Thanks for the blog candy chance. I would use the Easter set for scrapbook pages and embellishing Easter baskets, tags, etc. The nested set would be for cards.

Whew too.....I'm sure your grandmother will adjust with people around her and her age she probably will have a blast......
Would love to have the spellbinder dies...for cards....I can see that they would add such a burst of color to anything....thank you for the chance....

I have always wanted to try spellbinders so thank you for the chance to win these. Other than using them for cards, tags and scrapbook pages, I think they would make great stencils for making my own paper in the colors I need (especially the inverted circles). I would cut them out of chipboard, place them randomly on a sheet of white cardstock then spray with glimmer mist, watercolor...ect.

Summer Braxton said...

It's shocking, I know, but I just got my very first Spellbinders set.... the circles. Why did I wait so long? These are awesome. I need more!! So, I'll be happy to give your two sets a creatively busy home. Thanks for the chance.

Donna Little said...

I can see myself using either of these to get back to scrapbooking.... making cards is a BLAST, and I think it's partly due to the "immediate" reward of a completed project... unlike scrapbookings - for me, at least!

New goodies -- how wonderful! I haven't scrapped my Easter pictures from this year, so that would be my first project for those wonderful dies.

Hi Kimberly,
Sounds like you have been very busy. I hope you had a wonderful time with Spellbinders. I enjoy seeing your work. Your tutorials are helpful and inspiring. My favorite is the embossing with more than 1 color. I would use the dies (if I win) for making cards.
Thanks for a chance to win.

You must be emotionally exhausted.
I've been there. I teach scrapbooking to special needs children. We will soon be scrapping our Easter pages, so these dies would come in handy! The children are honing dexterity and motor skills by using the dies that we do have. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Oh, wouldn't those inverted scalloped circles come in handy for backgrounds and mats. Maybe some funny little faces for kids' cards. Perhaps some far-out balloons on a far-out card. Backgrounds for a sentiment. A fancy border around a scrapbook page. Gee -------- lots and lots!!! The Easter die set, well that one speaks for itself!!!!

Bev J. said...

What a boatload of goodies for you to play with. I have one set of nesties so could put the 'sunny circles' to good use.

Sorry about your grandmother having to move. I felt a little of the same when my mother died and we cleaned her house out for sale.

Margaret said...

Wow, what fun you are going to have with all those goodies! I could use both sets in scrapbook pages and on cards. I cna see the inverted scalloped circle on my grandson's soccer page as a medal that he won. I would also use it on a card behind the cross die that Spellbinders has! Thanks for the opportunity to win these.

Kimberly. . . I am sure your grandmother will enjoy her new home, and the friends and companionship she will find. It will be a real relief to your loved ones to know that Grandma is safe.
As to the Easter set, I make love packages for my grandchildren to craft things with. . . and know they would love playing with the Easter kit. The kits I make are used as family play dates and I just love that. I send hot chocolate and mini marshmallows along as well.
I would enjoy the inverted scalloped Circles to make many wonderful cards, labels, and layouts. The possiblities are limitless (as you so well know)
Wishing you a day filled with love and sunshine

Hi Kim! I've been eyeing that inverted scallop circle die for a while now because of the neat things I see you make with inverted scallop dies!
My grandma is 90 too, and my grandpa 94 and this year has been a hard one for us as they have been dealing with changes and health issues. I'm thankful for every day they are still in our lives.

The inverted circles scream bottle caps to me!!! I would use them in that way. So cute!

Hi~! thank you so much for the chance! I've bought the Spellbinders' machine recently, and I really love it! I adore sircle dies, but I dont have those you drawing. They are so beautiful, love that shape!! I would create with them the Sun with many beams or white dandelions. :) And the second set is sutable for the decoration of baby's layouts or cards.

I can see a card using the basket filled with flowers for a get well card; one of the inverted scalloped circles used as a sun peeking out thru some clouds with the little chick and an umbrella wishing you a happy spring.

Thank you for the opportunity to win.

Nana Jo said...

The circles would be great for monograms, sun, circles are just so versatile.

I am Grandma to 13 (6 girls, 7 boys). For every holiday, occasion (graduation, getting braces, getting braces off, making the top sport team, you get the idea) I make a different card for every child. It keeps me on my toes to continually come up with product and designs and I LOVE it! I would take the Easter set and go crazy doing a "Step Card" (I have recently fallen in love with that card base.) The shapes would go into the "think out of the box" category. I love taken common shapes and doing something different with them.

I realize that I don't always take the conventional route on my cards. When I look at the inverted Scalloped circles, I see a sun shining and it would be great for all these beach cards we are starting to work on! The smaller circle would be great for imitating a bottle cap if you punched it out with silver paper! And as dumb as it might sound, I love using bunnies for baby cards!!(you know, did the rabbit die???) and the basket would be great filled with Flower soft flowers on a get well card! These are two very versatile sets and thanks so much for offering them. It was extremely generous!

I love the egg with legs! Really funny. I would make a card with lots of eggs escaping from the basket with a funny sentiment, only I can't think of one yet!!! Any offers anybody?

I don't own any nestabilities so I think I would have a field day with those to test out on my scrapbooking layouts!

Ashley Newell said...

Ohhh, that's a lot of yummy stuff!! I would create the kids' Easter layouts with those dies. The circle ones could make for cute suns.

Savannah O'Gwynn said...

OH this is yummmmmy! I would love to use those dies--I am still without any nesties! I need to get some:)

Everyone deserves to take time for themselves and be a little flaky, you are no exception. Take a deep breath and say a prayer for all involved. As far as the dies go, I have always wanted to try the string winding with the inverted scallops, such a pretty technique. I wish you the best and will keep you in our prayers as well.

I always enjoy your blog...I understand how you feel about Grandma having to move but at 90 it's really best for her to be near other people that will look in on her...I have an Aunt that is 96 and she almost doesn't know me anymore...it's a long time to live.

Good luck in your future and also for grandma.

Hi, Kimberly! I'm one of your co-design team members for Stampendous. I've had fun checking out all your cute stuff. Sorry about your grandma. Been there, done that. Where in MN did she live? My grandparents home was in Winona and it was very sad having to sell it. Like you, I spent a lot of time in that old Victorian house...sigh. Anyway, I would love to play with those dies. Obviously, they'd make great "bottle caps", but I think they'd also be great as a background for Halloween spider webs. (Can you tell I've been working on Halloween for the upcoming catalog?) Would love to meet and chat sometime.
