Paper Crafts Holiday Cards and More

Holiday_Cards_&_More,_Vol__4

Have you picked up your copy of Paper Crafts Holiday Cards and More issue yet? Oh, its so fabulous! I ran, under the guise of taking the little man to play with the trains, to Barnes and Noble last Tuesday morning to check it out. Wow. Amazing and beautiful ideas, and the best part, they are doable!

happyholidays

I have the honor of 8 cards and a DVD holder box being put in this issue. Here is one of my cards in the issue. I love its simplicity and slightly shabby feel.

I am working on a couple of video tutorials, so I hope to have one posted very, very soon. Life has been a little upside down lately, DH being gone for work, his company laying off many (we were spared and my heart is beyond grateful, but broken for some family and so many friends), the little man is expressing his newly found 3.5 year old independence, in not good ways, the changing of teams for me, and all those things that life just brings your way. But, I guess, it just comes down to me being thankful for all of it. My life is full and blessed, and you have to have some salt to really appreciate the sugar.

You know what? Let’s throw a RAK out today…why not? :)

RAK RAK RAK

Leave a comment here by 12 noon (CST) on Thursday, tomorrow, telling me about your favorite Halloween costume. DS picked his out last week. He is very excited and spending a lot of time practicing his tiger roar. :) I have the Sept/Oct. issue of Paper Crafts (thrilled to have 3 cards in here!), the LIMITED edition and BRAND NEW Nesting Pumpkin dies from Spellbinders, and a few Halloween doo-dads up for grabs. I will do the random number thing on Thursday and announce the winner on Friday. good luck! thanks for stopping by!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. WINNER ANNOUNCED TOMORROW, FRIDAY

My favorite costume for Halloween was the year I dressed up as a witch when I was about 10 years old. My next door neighbor had this really cool with outfit that had a dress and cafe with lots of flowing layers. I had a black angora cat as a pet and I took her to the community Halloween party. I won first place in my category and Blackie was good as gold the whole night. She stayed in my arms the whole night and let people pet her and all and at the very end of the night she jumped out of my arms and ran all the way across the gym and I had to scramble to get her! Thanks for the opportunity to share a happy memory and to win your cool blog candy! Elaine

When I was little my mother made me into a television out of a box of course and wall papered it. It even had an antenna. I guess my age is showing. Ha!

hey Kim! My fav costume was when I dressed my dd up like an old woman! she wore a gray wig and stumbled around in heels! too cute cuz she won the best costume prize at a huge party we went to! :)

Congrats - that's fabulous!

As for halloween costumes, it's hard to pick a favorite - I always have so much fun making them! This will be my first year with a boy to dress, after 7+ years with just girls so that should be fun!

I will share my most memorable from when I was a kid - my dad went as the big bad wolf and my mom, brother, and myself went as the three little pigs. I remember I hated the costume because my mom had sewn bottle nipples onto the piggy costumes ;-)

I wore my favorite Halloween costume five years ago when I dressed as a clown (complete with multi-colored wig and a clown face), jumped in my car and drove the 20 minutes to visit my great-nephews to deliver them candy. They were 5 and 2 at the time and didn't recognize me at first! What a hoot!!!

Congrats on so many of your things being published. I'm going to head out to get the mag as soon as my DD finishes breakfast.

My favorite Halloween costume has to be a ladybug but wouldn't you know neither one of my girls wants to be one.

Thanks for the opportunity to wish an awesome gift!

My favorite halloween costume is anything that my 3 little ones are in, but a few years ago my middle son was a cowboy and wore his daddy's leather chaps and vest from when he was little. It was so cute hat, chaps, vest, and boots. Last year we had to do a costume change.....at school my oldest was alice in wonderland, for pictures a pirate princess, and to trick or treat she was alice again. My youngest was Shrek....so cute!!

My favorite costume when I was a kid was a Gypsy. I got to wear tons of Mom's makeup and jewelry, and long skirts with lots of scarves. Mom and Dad liked it because it was free!

Love your cards! So many great items to "case". My fav Halloween costume has to be when my neighbor dressed as a man in a shower! He had on plain shorts, flip flops and a shower cap carrying a back brush. He rigged up a hula hoop with a rod that came down and went around his waist covered by a towel. Hung a clear shower curtain on the hula hoop and it was marvelous!! I took so many photos! I have never forgotten that outfit!

Congrats on all your publications! And thanks for sharing your talent with all of us!

My favorite costume was at a neighborhood party. A guy came dressed up as a guy sitting in an outhouse. It was too amazing and too funny to fully give it justice without a picture.

Corrine Ann said...

My favorite Halloween costume was the one I made for my husband for a party and I dressed him as Mr. Clean. He sure looked like him but didn't win the prize. The second favorite was the time we went to a party as Laurel and Hardy. No prize there either but we had fun.
Congrats on your card publications!
Thanks for a chance to win.

: :pveed reading today, but then I do everyday. You bring a bit of sunsine into my life. My favorite Halloween Costume is just about anything that my Daughter has put my now, just turned 3 year old Grandson in. Last year he was a Fireman, and went to a real Firehouse! I love taking pictures of him every year, and giving him his little "goodie" bag, that "Nana" made. Keep up the great work, can't wait to get my hands on the Mag. to read all about you and the others. Until tomorrow...

My favorite halloween costume was a playing card, I think I was an Ace. It was so easy and so cute :)

KellyRae said...

My favorite halloween costume is a toss-up between being a bubble bath (dozens of pink balloons pinned to my pink dress and me wearing a showercap, and holding a bath brush)) or being a 'one-night stand' (in which I was a bedside night stand-I was wearing a lampshade because of course I was the lamp but having an alarm clock, reading glasses, a book, and false teeth in a cup on the nightstand too). Thanks so much for the chance to win your blog candy. That limited edition pumpkin nestie looks awesome.

My favorite Halloween costume was last year my little "gal" was a butterfly, so precious! Thanks for the chance....hey if I should be so lucky to "win"....I will not have computer access until Tuesday after Labor Day...how will I survive??

Oh - my favorite Halloween costume was when I was a little girl. It was just a store bought Felix the Cat costume. However, I had just been given a little kitten from my Aunt and I loved her. Plus, it was one of the few costumes in my trick or treat years that wasn't a hand me down. I think I would still wear it this year if only it would fit!!

Hi Kimberly! Oh, this just brings back a long-forgotten memory. . . .of me dressing up as a hobo when I was in the 6th grade. Ragged pants and shirt but the best part was my mom smeared my cheeks and jaw area with vaseline and then put coffee grounds all over the vaseline so that I looked like an old hobo with stubble on his face! :-) Love that creative Mom of mine! Thanks for the chance to win. . ..looks like such fun!

Nicky Hsu said...

Congratulations Kimberly!! I can’t wait to get the Holiday card issue. My favorite costume was the Witch that I dress up for school kids. I hand-made EVERYTHING. I love the hat the most.

My favorite Halloween costume was when my very conservative husband dressed up as a "punk rocker". My teenage niece came over and put an orange rinse in his hair and spiked it. She made a nose ring out of aluminum foil and let him a pair of her boyfriends boots. Absolutely hilarious.

Kimberly,
My favorite costume was the year when my sister helped me dress up as Pippi Longstocking. I had striped socks, straw hat and braids that stuck straight out to the side due to the wires we wove through them. Such a fun time.
I was a happy kid.

When my son was 10, I made him a Star Trek uniform from a sewing pattern. Wreathed in smiles, he marched through the school halls in the Halloween parade, looking for all the world like a crew member of the Starship Enterprise.

My favorite Hallowe'en costume? Hmm...I think when my husband and I went as Autumn and Winter. : )

Hi Kimberly,

My favorite Halloween costume was for my daughter when she was 5, I did not have the money to purchase the "New" Disney jasmine costumes so I handmade hers. We lived on a Military Base and they had a costume contest and she won 1st place. My daughter is now almost 24 years old and I still have that costume. Hugs Terre

My favorite halloween costume was my 1 year olds lady bug. She looked absolutely adorable in it!!

My favorite costume was one I made for my younger son years ago.He watched this Canadian TV show...The Friendly Giant(we live near Detroit). The Giant wore a tunic type outfit with a sash belt and carried a song flute. I made him one just like Friendly's.Erik wore that proudly on Halloween and for weeks beyond. He just lived in it and taught himself the tune also.
The memory still brings a smile to my heart!

I recall my childhood costume using whatever clothing my Mom had to create a mismatched outfit and then make-up to be some kind of hobo type persona. Loved those days of making do.

it must be such a thrill to be published! but, no one can get published if they don't send in the project! anyway, i went to work at my insurance company as a doctor...complete with a stethoscope, "blood" and hemostats pinned to the front of the scrubs. fun!

My favorite costume was on my son's first halloween. He was a bumblebee and absolutely hated the thing. He screamed bloody murder, but I thought he was terribly adorable and made him keep it on until I was done photographing him. The small consolation was he did get to trick or treat at a couple of homes and get some sweet treats :)

Karen said...

Oh Kimberly, you are so cute! And so famous! wooooooo hoooooooo
My favorite costume I ever wore was when I wore pink pants and a pink shirt and a black hat. I added a label "Pepto Bismol". hee hee hee I got a lot of laughs with that one.

My favorite Halloween costume was a custume I made for my daughter. She was the first girl in a family of 6 boys. I made a Little Red Ridinghood costume with a red cape and little basket for the goodies. She's 17 now and I still can picture her in her little outfit. I will make sure to buy Holiday Cards magazine if I can find it. Thanks, Cathy Weber

Congrats on all the published items in the new mag! I noticed your name quite a few times in the last PCM too:) I love this Christmas card you created! It's a perfect balance of polka dots, dsp, delicate lace and beautiful holly leaves!! Gorgeous!
My most memorable costume was a clown suit I made from old sheets and material scraps. I even made shoe covers as well as a big ruffled collar. Worn with a mask, big red wig, and gloves, it was impossible to tell if it was M or F. MY DH wore it to the neighbors, they were clueless. The best of all was when my neighbor wore it back to her house and her own DH didn't know who she was! LOL Good stuff there :)

Your card is beautiful.
I think my favorite costumes are either the caveman with a furry wrap that went over one shoulder and was stitched on both sides with matching furry slippers and a paper mache club that my son dressed up in one year when he was small or the chimney sweep with a black cardboard hat nearly as tall as he was and a black long sleeve tshirt and black pants and smudges on his face, in another year. Both costumes I made.

My favorite Halloween costume was the year I made togas for my husband and me and we dressed as Cleopatra and Mark Antony. We had all the accessories including head gear and scepters. I think I enjoyed wearing my toga more than my husband...he was such a good sport to dress up with me. I don't think the 4 beers before the party hurt either...lol

I'll always love Halloween, not matter how old I get!

My favorite halloween costume is going to be for this year... I will be approx 8 months pregnant, and I saw an adorable picture where you paint your baby belly to look like humpty dumpty... and then you just create a wall(box) that gets worn around my waist... then add some arms & legs... it looks way adorable.. I can't wait :) thanks for all your paper=crafting inspiration!
